Just not for me. I get the artistry, the solos are sick, production dialed in. Can't quite get past the vocals and the subject matter I guess. I'm all for agressive music, i listen to a ton of it. It's just that this specific album is seemingly all sex lust and violence towards women as objects, which is a turnoff for me personally and doesn't make any of these an anthem for me. had no idea about their history and the loss of the lead singer
Not a big cock rock fan, but liked the blues influence. Maybe being a little harsh because I've gotten a few 70s-80s metal bands in a row. Drums here are insane. Pretty wild for a debut album.
This one is so deeply tied to my childhood. My dad played it all the time. It has a real cinematic feel (duh), and in general I'm just a huge sucker for concept albums.
Incredible songwriting and harmony

New to me. Absolutely divine. Very ahead of its time.
Incredible. Never write off a ska band I guess! Amazing to hear the influences on so many bands I care about. Completely unknown to me, had to listen on Youtube because it wasnt on Spotify.
Amazing. Feels like it really has a finger on the pulse of the time. Fun to hear a ton of these songs in context.
Still trying to get into jazz, but this was really incredible
Want to like it, but it feels insanely dated to my ears.
Amazing. I had no idea Scholz was such a badass. Love the idea of creating the perfect rock band, one "with crystal-clear vocals and bone-crunching guitars"
So much more punk than I realized.
Wanted to like this one more
Honestly, an album that can no longer be made, but an important and brave one in my opinion. Looking over reviews from other people, I'm sad to see so many people dismiss it outright because of its lyrics and subject matter. Randy writes in character. A fact that seems to be challenging for many here. It's strange to me that we can separate artist and role so easily when we watch a film (no one is getting angry at Fassbender for his role as a slave-owner in 12 Years a Slave), but we seem to have difficulty making this same separation when it comes to music. Stories deserve to be told, and no one does it better in music that Randy. He drags American skeletons out of the closet and into the daylight. That discomfort you feel? He's directly pointing out how strange it is that you don't feel it every day, because if you looked, it's all around you.
Maybe I'm just overdosing on 70s rock, or maybe live albums don't really do it for me, but I thought this album was just fine. Some individual tracks are incredible and I found a few new ones to love, but it doesn't come together as an album for me. Insane talent though!
Undeniably beautiful and moving. I wanted to hate, but I left enchanted.
Tried to judge it independently of the my expectations of the bad, but I didn't really get what this one had to say. Didn't enjoy it musically either.
