Fred Neil by Fred Neil
May 27 2025

After my first listen I thought, yeah, this is pretty good. Not too bad. Maybe should have dropped 1 or 2 songs towards the end. But, It kept drawing me back and now I've heard this album at least once a day this week. Just a really good chilled out acoustic album with some great tracks that you find yourself singing to in your head if not along to with the music while you're listening. This is exactly why I wanted to try this random album a day thing. Finding gems like this. Not perfect, but a great folk album and my favourite this week for sure. I even had to track down a physical copy for my collection I liked it that much. Great album👌

Mothership Connection by Parliament
May 28 2025

Yeah this is freakin cool as ice, straight from the get go there is some serious groove here👌 I feel it's definitely an album to listen to out loud rather than through headphones though. So give it a go at least once. Turn the bass up, turn the volume up. I really liked this. Can't say I've ever listened to a funk album before either. Some great songs on this one for sure, featuring the legendary track 'Give up the funk' which most of us would know or at least would recognise. If you hear it you'll know it. An album I'll come back for a listen from time to time for sure. Groovy baby.

May 29 2025

The unmistakable voice of Aretha Franklin. This is very very good. It's amazing that, as powerful as her voice is, you can still put this on and relax while listening. Great album. Great artist.

Ace of Spades by Motörhead
May 30 2025

Not only one of the greatest albums ever written, but one of the greatest rock n roll bands of all time also. This album is a beginning to end head banging session of riffs, solo's and a vocal style so undeniably Lemmy. Pour a drink, light a smoke and enjoy some of the hardest hitting rock n roll imaginable.

Jun 02 2025

It took me 3 attempts to listen to this album in it's entirety. Now that I have, knowing I never have to again makes me happy. At times I feel like she's just yelling at me, other times it's like I'm listening to this on an old walkman that has batteries that are going flat and the tempo just randomly changes. The song 'poverty train' saves me mid album listen, but otherwise I just can't get my head around this one. It gets zero jazz hands from me

Jun 03 2025

This is one of those bands who's name you've heard a million times but never their music. Musically this is good but the singing and lyrics do absolutely nothing for me. Still worth a listen.

Rain Dogs by Tom Waits
Jun 04 2025

Ooooooo I do like this. This is a goodun. I've been meaning to check Tom Waits out properly for too long now. This is my sort of jam. I love this old school Jazz/blues funeral sound. Buckle up for this one though, It's 19 tracks. It does a really good job of keeping you interested and listening though. I don't mean its long, most songs are 3 minutes long tops, but it jumps from one song to the next pretty quick. I've always enjoyed this style of music so to me this was a pretty damn good album. Love the vocals. Love the music. Definitely adding this to my collection.

Let Love Rule by Lenny Kravitz
Jun 05 2025

So this is the debut Lenny album. I was looking forward to this one. It's just a laid back rock album really. It didn't hit as hard as I thought it would but still pretty good. I guess the catchier songs came on later albums. Some cool guitar work here. Still worth a listen.

Metal Box by Public Image Ltd.
Jun 06 2025

Well at least it has guitar in it🤷‍♂️ I was pretty excited to hear this, knowing that it was some of John lydons post Sex Pistols work. I knew it was different but for me, this is too different. I was determined to sit through it, so now I've done so, I doubt t I'll ever be back for a listen. I understand at the time this was quite a landmark album/band for the post punk genre, but this I can't get in to. I appreciate it for what it is, but it's not for me.

Reign In Blood by Slayer
Jun 09 2025

This has been voted one of the greatest metal albums of all time so many times it feels almost clichè. But it really is that good. From begining to end, a metal masterpiece. It hits hard from the opening track, Angel of death, right through song after song of some of thrash metals greatest riffs, through to the haunting opening of Rain in blood. An album most metal bands have never came close to equalling.

Repeater by Fugazi
Jun 10 2025

This is one of those bands I grew up knowing existed but never gave them the time day. I suppose I never really thought this would be my kind of music but the fact is, this is quite good. I can see how these guys have been a big influence on the post hardcore genre itself. This would have been amazing live in it's day too. Some cool melodies and even cooler riffs here. Kinda want a skateboard now.

Blood Sugar Sex Magik by Red Hot Chili Peppers
Jun 11 2025

Ah yes. Blood Sugar Sex Magik. The album that put dynamite under TRHCP and blew them up onto the world stage. The album with all my fave tacks and a sound so undeniably Chilli peppers. This really is quite good, but I kind of feel funked out by the end for some reason. Just a me problem really.

21 by Adele
Jun 12 2025

I knew this day would come. The day I that I would finally listen to THAT Adele album. I got 5 songs in and had already come to the conclusion that all the hype, all the talk, all the fuss was for good reason. I totally get it now. This is an amazing album. All the early hits are here, but it's the songs in between those that show off just how brilliant and versatile here voice is. Yes it's a 'pop' album so to speak, but it's also a blues album, a soul album, a great album. I have no idea what her later albums are like, but this was totally worth the hype. Solid.

Surf's Up by The Beach Boys
Jun 13 2025

Yeah mad. Beach boys

Caetano Veloso by Caetano Veloso
Jun 16 2025

I knew this day would come. I guess that's what listening to 1001 albums is about. Some stuff will stick, some stuff won't. I didn't particularly think this was bad, just not my bag. I actually have heard the first track somewhere before. I'm sure if your Brazilian this is a classic album. At least give it a listen once.

Bongo Rock by Incredible Bongo Band
Jun 17 2025

So bongo, bongo, bongo, I don't want to leave the Congo, oh no no no no no... No reference to this album, I just like fallout... I thought I'd hate this, but I didn't. Some cool moments on here. In a Gaddafi da Vida never gets old no matter the version😂 Give it a go at least once.

Live At Leeds by The Who
Jun 18 2025

I've been sleeping on The Who way to long. This is absolutely bangin!👌 At times you forget this is actually a live recording because of how tight and great the band sound in this. Definitely going to check out more of their music for sure.

Songs From The Big Chair by Tears For Fears
Jun 19 2025

Oh so this is Tears for Fears. To me this is one of those bands that you've heard but didn't know you had. I recognised a bunch of these songs but it's the ones in between that I wasn't to fussed on. Still a solid listen if you dig your 80s pop synth/rock.

Parallel Lines by Blondie
Jun 20 2025

How good is Blondie! Banging record.

Jun 23 2025

Yeah I like this. This is my kind of jam these days. Good balance of easy listening folk style music with a few rock style songs thrown in. Lyrics are as good as the music, well written. Definitely have a listen. I'll be adding this to my physical collection.

Fear and Whiskey by Mekons
Jun 24 2025

This album seemed to get better the further in I got. I'm determined to listen to each album all the way through at least once and by the end of this, I still just couldn't get into it. No idea what earlier albums sound like but this is apparently a departure from their earlier sound. It is what it is but not my kind of jam

Pacific Ocean Blue by Dennis Wilson
Jun 25 2025

Give me this over the beach boys any day. There's some crazy good songs on this album, well written and performed. Really enjoy the vocal style.

Illinois by Sufjan Stevens
Jun 26 2025

There's a lot going on in this album. Lots of tracks. I will be honest, I may never intentionally put this album on again anytime soon but I certainly didn't hate it. In fact it's pretty good. Just not something I think I'd listen to over and over. Give it a go.

Jun 27 2025

Without a doubt, one of the singular most important country music albums of all time. Some of the most well known songs of the genre appear on this album. Not a skippable song on this one I feel. Also, who doesn't love to sing along to big iron while wandering the Mojave wasteland of New Vegas

This Is Fats Domino by Fats Domino
Jun 30 2025

After a long day at work, I come home, I grab a beer, I walk into my little workshop where I repair guitars, and i put something like this on while i tinker away. I really enjoyed this. I swear I was born too late sometimes😆 Every song just feels like it is meant to be there and the album feels just the right length. None of the songs are overly catchy, but none seem boring or skippable. I just felt so.... relaxed.

69 Love Songs by The Magnetic Fields
Jul 01 2025

Never heard of them. There are a bunch of songs on here that I quite like, well, the melody at least, but in general I couldn't quite get into it. Maybe I'm just old. 69 songs is a great effort and It's by no means a bad album but just not for me.

Crosby, Stills & Nash by Crosby, Stills & Nash
Jul 02 2025

The fact that this is the album with Helplessly Hoping on it meant that I knew it was going to be good. Was not disappointed. Great tunes all the way through.

...The Dandy Warhols Come Down by The Dandy Warhols
Jul 03 2025

Good. A little sleepy This is one of those albums I've been meaning to listen to for years. It's a pretty chill album and a little too sleepy at times for me. Not if you were the last junkie on earth was a big fave of mine when I was younger. It's a pretty good album but not something I old listen to over again very I often. times.

Treasure by Cocteau Twins
Aug 19 2025

What is this? Music for ghosts? It's actually kinda cool.

Aug 25 2025

Mammoth album. This is as close as it gets to perfect👌

Trout Mask Replica by Captain Beefheart & His Magic Band
Aug 26 2025

This is what my brain sounds like on Friday nights after a long week of work, a bottle of wine and a joint that is starting to kick in... beautiful chaos

...Baby One More Time by Britney Spears
Aug 27 2025

Reminds me of vanilla deodorant, lip gloss, poor make up and ex girlfriends. I'm a lover of all different types of music, but I find it difficult saying this is something you need to hear. It's by no means terrible, it's polished, it's pop, it's written to make money. Catchy tunes that are 3 minute hooks to people who just like music as entertainment, not for the effort and skill in it's writing.

Master Of Puppets by Metallica
Aug 29 2025

Many regard this as one of the greatest heavy metal albums of all time for good reason. An absolute masterpiece.
