Crime Of The Century
SupertrampOf it's time not sure if they wanted to be a prog band or more pop. Some good songs on it even the ones that reminded me of genesis

So many good songs on it and a masterpiece of the country / rock genre.
One of the best sounding and produced albums of all time it's the non singles that really shine on this album. Great album to listen to in the dark when relaxing; love it
Very Britpop, lot of filler between some good songs. Of it's time
Perfect early 80s poprock. Enjoyed it more then I thought I would.
Sonically beautiful, but not making any connection otherwise. I could have this as background music all day or when relaxing and I still wouldn't be able to name or sing a song.
Not usually my kind of music but so many tracks and samples that have been the background of TV and movies for these last 20+ years. Good chill out album
A classic album one long prayer in my mind and done in such a soulful way. Got to listen to it in the order it was designed.
Couldn't get into this album, more a collection of sounds rather than songs. Can see why it was called groundbreaking but not for me
Not what I was expecting I had preconceived ideas about the band but this album was not those. A right mixture of songs and instrumentals. Different and intriguing and will make me listen to more of their output.
It sounds as if it's the same song. New wave has not really done anything for me. Although rock lobster is still a banging track.
Loved this album, 3 top musicians but for once not trying to out do each other but just to combine to play some great music. Loved the last track, definitely before the ego's took hold
Great collection of hip-hop, r&b, soul and show tunes on this album didn't know what to expect but it was an interesting listen.
Have so much history with this album. First rush album I heard and been a big fan since then. Not listened to it from start to finish for many a year but side 1 is a brilliant blend of story and musicianship. Side 2 is more of a mixed bag but set the tone for the rest of their career. Not everyone's cup of tea but for me this is a builders tea with 2 sugars and a packet of chocolate digestives to go with it.
Probably was considered more new wave when released but it's a pop album of its' time. Edwyn Collins is not the best vocalist ever but it fits the music style and is a good example of early 80's British music
Album that was played to death when I was a young'un. Revising it after probably 35 years it immediately took me back to why it was such an attraction. Cinematic storytelling, great production, songs that grab you. This is probably going to go back on rotation.
Loved the rawness of the album and the showcasing of Dr Dre samples. Does get a bit repetitive in terms of message but the energy never drops. Express yourself is a tune though
Not my usual listening but it is well produced and above the norm for a lot of the dance tracks of that time.
Unique voice and great production but it doesn't grab you as it should. Will need to relisten to this in the future but at the moment I didn't rate it
Remember hammering this album when it came out, travelling to work but wishing I was somewhere warm. A precursor for many more Ibiza dance oriented outfits but this is a really good album. Not as bass heavy or led as other earlier New order albums but some really good toe tapping songs. For the nostalgia alone this earns it a good rating
A country album, each s one a story about, lost love, losing love or getting rid of love. Not really my thing but she has a great voice
Great rock album.
Foundations of a lot of music in the following decades. Still very listenable and some classic tracks.
Some of it doesn't sound as if it was released in 1985. No surprise that one of the members went on to produce some classic grunge albums. Worth a listen but not one of the tracks stood out or made it into another playlist. Never would have heard of them without this and probably wouldn't have missed them.
Possibly the first heavy rock blues record or certainly the one that spawned a whole genre. Having said that it is all a bit samey with the odd stand out track. Again great musicianship and hoping too see more of them in the future list.
Heard of the grateful dead but never really listened to them. This album it's somewhere between Crosby, Stills and Nash and The Eagles. Enjoyed it but again all the tracks seem to slightly blur into one. Very pleasant background music and will try and listen to some more of the dead
Tried a couple of times to listen to it but apart from the known songs nothing else jumps out
Some good songs but going for the quirky song rather than an easier more melodic approach. Can see the influence they had on nirvana though. Not sure what to make of it.
When they started to become a stellar band. The l singles are great songs but the rest of the album is underwhelming. Not as good imho as yellow
May have been groundbreaking in 1979 but nothing stands out as innovative. Disappointing.
Listening critically rather than as a fan I can see how the more upbeat melody songs stand out on this album. Johnny Marr guitars and Andy Rourks bass lines are all to the fore. Some of the slower downbeat songs are not as strong (although I know it's over is a classic) and do go on. However another of my favourite albums.
Great background music, Latin beats very summery, nice.
Some great classic songs, great voice and wonderful arrangements.
A new take on indie pop rock, sang with a proper accents and telling the stories of growing up in city. Raw and in your face.
Can see why it gets the readings but nothing special for me
Lyrics obviously not the byrds strong point in this one but you can see this influencing a lot of music going forward.
Good early punk rock album for me, raw and energetic.
Great blend of music and lyrics with a fantastic production and some killer songs
Interesting laid back go hip, great beasts.
Mixed bag from a tropical bridge album. Some very similar songs interspersed with some brilliant songs
Sounds modern same recent than it's 1970 release date. Good start to the album but loses it's easy towards the last couple of tracks.
He's just a generic country folk singer without the charm of Cash nor the lyrics of a Dylan or a Guthrie.
Generic Indie pop from the 90's, its ok but nothing that can be described as ground breaking.
Another generic indie album from the early 2000's. Another one that doesn't deserve the hype around it
Interesting background music
Not music that I can really get into, music for a club but not for listening to
Some really good songs on this made all more visceral by the events around it's release. Definitely a final album but not maudling and typical Bowie continue to progress musically. Interesting
A surprisingly beautiful album. Unique sounds mix of soul folk and indie. Worth another listen
A good solid REM album.
Thrash metal. Not when it's as generic as this
They another generic indie album, nothing innovative and have probably skipped their songs on a shine album
Good modern indie pop album.
Not the best smiths album. However the guitar work from Marr is sublime. Hints of disco, classical and 60's Beatles throughout. Couple of real bangers in this album though
Definite mix of influences on this one giving a fairly laid-back feel. Torches of Ska, e ok ectronica, late 60's vibe, easy listening. Would stick this on in the background but not really be paying attention to it.
Modern funk, not groundbreaking for me but will done if you like that shirt of thing.
Great blues record, if a bit patchy. Some really good blues and early rock songs but also some fillers that would have been good played live but don't come across well on record
Nothing experimental about this jazz album. Laid back ready listening
Not as good as some of his later albums. Bit of a mixed bag.
Suprsingly enjoyable album, very upbeat with some decent songs.
