The WhoAs a musical, it's not good. As an album, it's really bad.
As a musical, it's not good. As an album, it's really bad.
Intentionally weird. Annoying vocals. Didn't like them then. Still don't.
+1 for groundbreaking.
+1 for nostalgia bangers.
It was fine.
Pretty boring overall, and as an album it was disjointed and carries a lot of skippable tracks.
Not his best album, and that says more about his best albums than it does this album.
As a musical, it's not good. As an album, it's really bad.
Thematically solid.
Boring.
I enjoy industrial metal and found this album mostly boring, as I did when it was released in the boom of that genre.
Never heard anything besides Pet Sounds. I was pretty blown away to hear the direct influence on bands like The Pixies and Weezer. Really great album, prompts me to listen to their entire catalog.
Never heard of him, but recognized a few songs. Bizarre album.
Intentionally weird. Annoying vocals. Didn't like them then. Still don't.
Kind of a run of the mill late 80s album.
Pretty pedestrian punk album. +1 for trailblazing.
An album that is more important than it is good. +1 for exposure of a talent like Ali Farka TourΓ©. Some songs are just jams with too much space, and too long by half. Others are great. Most are saturated in the 90s obsession with chorus effects on guitar. He has better albums.
Mostly good. It pushes boundaries without being experimental. The songwriting still remains familiar and accessible for the time period, and I can hear its influence on bands I grew up with in the following decade. For a 10 song album that runs an hour. There's too many duds. But I do want to hear more from their catalog and will do so for the songs that were really good.
Nein.
It's not my favorite Zep album, but it ain't something I ever put down. The best tracks are legendary Jimmy Page or JPJ songwriting.
Very 60s, very English.
Joe Perry best work, probably Aerosmiths best album.
Mostly boring.
One of the best metal albums ever.
+1 for popularizing funk and classic bangers. But there's a lot of theatrics that waste space on this album.
A trailblazing album for generations of post-punk acts. Thematically consistent, and oke of a kind (even from Joy Division).
It's a beautiful album, perhaps buried among other piano pop songwriting in the late 90s. That's a shame if listeners not familiar with Fiona Apple missed this one.
This is an over-produced pop-punk album and I've always loved it.
Thoroughly unenjoyable. The album has no identity. Stevie isn't even featured until the fifth song. I wouldn't recommend this album to even fans of Fleetwood Mac.
Exceptional. And anyone reading this who hasn't made it to a Newport Jazz Festival, if this is your thing, definitely go.
Eternal. Fantastic vibe and songwriting.
Genre defying, and silly to the point of annoying. Still, there are really great guitar riffs buried in here. Not a total waste of time.
Boring.
Musically inspiring. Wonderful lyrics. Timeless.
Haven't heard of this band. The album was fine, but didn't push me to discover more about their catalog.
I grew up with this album. Rap was getting very big, and this album is a good representation of that time. But I wouldn't recommend someone who wants to hear Beastie Boys for the first time start hear. In retrospect, many of their albums are better than this one. Many other albums of the era are better than this one too.
Not for me. All I could think was this is a KMFDM demo tape without distortion. So +1 for that.
Deep Purple in Rock is fun. They're all over the place in every song, but in a very consistent way throughout the album. There's so much SoCal vibe on this which is quite a feat for a band out of London.
Really fantastic songwriting and even better guitar playing. If Crosby, Stills & Nash is the only exposure someone has to Stephen Stills, I definitely recommend hearing the fully electric approach he has on Manassas.
To my ears this is a perfect blend of jazz and funk. Highly recommend Fela.
Despite the stuff they're known for being on the back half of the album, I enjoyed the first half much more.
This is metal. Holds up over decades.
Not a fan of Morrissey, or even the Smiths. But this was a pretty upbeat version of both, and I like it.
Absolutely terrible. I'm only giving 2/5 because the drummer and percussion honestly is fantastic. But, 35-40% of this album isn't even music.
I've never heard of this artist. I very much enjoyed this and will listen to more of his catalog. In particular, for a folk album in the 2000s, when a lot of artists were coming forth in the acoustic, alternative bluegrass, whatever you call it genres, I wish this hadn't been lost on me.
This album is just not funky enough for me. They have better albums.
Really great, and eternal classic new wave.
I begrudgingly like this. Every track I was ready to write off, another band trying to sound like their favorite rockers. I can't place what made this much more endearing. Recommended for early 90s hair metal fans.
This album surprised me on how it still captivates. It's a time capsule of the mid-90s references, but musically and a really great production still last. This is an album that must be heard for anyone remotely interested in 90s hip-hop.
I have no idea who this is, or even what era it comes from. I really enjoyed the lyrics being so crass. This is like something Robbie Williams would do.
Don't start here if you've never listened to Black Sabbath. These are almost ideas of better songs from later albums. It's fine, but not a stand out.
This is just so bland and boring and overproduced.
A great representation of the era without being boring. Van Morrison is a unique assortment of instrumentation and styles, but with the production techniques that keep it in the Classic Rock sound I grew up with.
Not the Beck album I'd recommend to a newcomer. But once you're into Beck, this is a great vibe once and a while.
Nothing super special. A good mix of soul and jazz.
I don't like Neil Young.
Wasn't really expecting to like this so much, but it's just a really great album of folk songwriting. Chord progressions are interesting. Words are full enunciated, almost like ASMR. Vocal harmonies are so well blended. These guys are masters. I can't decide if the parts of the album that aren't music are worth docking a star. I guess if I'm deliberating, it's fine. They blend into the songs well enough, and contextually.
It was fine. I liked it. Not interesting enough to check out her other stuff anytime soon.
