Despite this album being so far from my style, I really enjoyed how cinematic and hypnotic each song felt. Overall a very nocturnal soundtrack, somehow incohesive yet tied together, as if it were an anthology of different character's experiences of the same night in the city. However, I don't think the inclusion of the live final track adds anything, in fact I feel it takes away from the general feel. Although this isn't an album I see myself reaching for again and again, there are a handful of tracks I would play and recommend to friends.
I want to be there, in that very room, tipsy, dancing and laughing with my nearest and dearest, fuck it, even my furthest and farthest. This may be one of my favourite live albums, so immersive, the crowd, Cooke’s laughing, it’s so clear he loved his job. The pure joy in that room is unmatched, electric and beautifully infectious, so removed from the world around them.
the police have some fantastic songs… unfortunately with the exception of message in a bottle, none of them are on this album
perfect slasher movie soundtrack
gosh the people who don't like specific music because it's popular are so dull. This album is fun, cooky and popular for a reason. Although I wouldn't say this is my fave Queen album, she's a unique masterpiece to say the least.
Quality background music
Ha! get it.... like surfs UP
This album had me one minute then lost me the next - Big fan of the songs with the small town but something's not quite right vibe, not so much on the spooky scary skeleton songs.
you wait around, look around and wander around. yes we get it - Unfortunately this album is a little tooooo consistent for me, as in I'd struggle to pick them apart in a line up. I did like the music but the lyrics just did nothing for me.
i'd like to personally thank Elvis Costello for re-enforcing my argument that men don't need to be able to sing to be musicians. Below mid, I can't say it's bad but I can't see myself ever replaying this album. I did quite like man out of time but no other real stand outs for me. Wish I could rate this a 1.75
I can appreciate this but it's not for me
only problem with this album is that i was stuck in the office listening to it instead of on a beach
their pronunciation really scratches my brain 3.5*
90s alt rock in a nutshell (not that I was there) I enjoyed this quite a lot, the only reason why I'm not rating this a 5 is down to the likelihood of me relistening to this entire album
i was expecting to like this... i liked the dreams i had when it sent me to sleep
i knew this wouldn't be for me, i swear i tried but no it's not for me

this album makes me feel like a little ant sick of being stepped on by evil humans and after decades of tyranny my colony and I are preparing for the rise against humans. 2.5 (rating a 3 for the nostalgia of antmusic)
