What the shitting fuck was that?!
Very, very good jazz. Miles Davis is one of the best.
Felt like I was being indoctrinated into the military. There is definitely a mastery of the instruments by band members, but did I enjoy actually listening to it? Not really. Fave part was in Jagerspiel when the dudes are going "will they pickle me pickle me pickle me, will they pickle me pickle me pickle me"
Fuckin banger of an album. These guys cooked. Straight off the bat, the first song Stand! is great. I noticed a lot of their songs go crazy at the end, which I always love. The funk is real. Sorta weird that spotify puts some tracks twice despite being identical, but that's fine. Sex Machine goes crazy (although I think kevin showed me it before so I might be biased), they got the grapefruit method bass and I'm all here for it. I Want To Take You Higher also stood out. I'm only not rating it a 5 because I don't think this is the kind of thing I'll be listening to over and over again like some of my favourite albums. The 5 is reserved for those next-level SSS tier albums that are beyond great.
Aretha Franklin's voice definitely carried this album. Easily the best part. The piano and brass were quite good, too, but nothing mind-blowing. Fave song: Drown In My Own Tears I thought this song was a fuckin masterpiece and have added it to my playlists immediately. That song alone bumped it up from a 3 to a 4 for me. Honorable Mentions: Save Me, and A Change Is Going To Come
Pretty good, not my favourite album ever but I can see why people would love it. The self-titled Purple Rain is probably my favourite of the tracks.
Vibes vibes vibes vibes VIBES VIBES VIBES VIBES VIBES VIBESVIBESVIBESVIBESVIBES!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Solid album but nothing special.
I like the brevity of the album. 28 minutes was a good amount of time for the simple tunes to sustain my interest. Best part of the album was definitely the lyrics. Very poetic, and pleasing to the ear. My fave song was The Dangling Conversation, the singing was great on that one. Fave lyric was from A Simple Desultory Philippic, "Been Phil Spectored, resurrected" crazy Hollywood lore pull in a S&G song. Sometimes I'll think where is this going, only to be surprised in the end of the song with something really good. This is not typically my kind of music, but I can see why it's so revered.
Incredible. Nothing in this was something I expected from a rap album, it was all over the place tonally, but Tricky was cooking like crazy with this one. Black Steel, Hell Is Around The Corner, and Aftermath are all amazing. Honestly there isn't a bad song on this album. Also, Abbaon Fat Tracks has hilarious lyrics.
eh, the instruments are good, but mans needs to lay off the vibrato. His voice was grating for me. Sounded like a theatre kid. Next is good, though.
Pretty good. Favourite song: The Beast Ready or Not, Zealots, and Killing Me Softly are great, too. I'm not a crazy fan of the super long sections where the band is talking normally. It makes it hard to listen to the music casually.
Absolute fucking classic. One of the best albums ever. So sad that Amy Winehouse died young, imagine the bangers she would have made. Favourite song: Back To Black Honorable Mentions: Every other song
I actually quite liked the album, but not sure why it's on a 1001 albums of all time list. There are many albums I'd put above this one. Fave song: The Architect Honorable mentions: Ravenspoint, H>A>K, and Modern Kosmology Ok but for real why does the ending literally sound like a wet fart (I mean like it like literally sounds like someone farting into a speaker)
Wow, I loved this! Right up my alley. Super solid indie rock album with... is that Blues influence? Towards the end of the album, I notice a more southern sound which is kinda neat. Fave song: Pressure Point Honorable Mentions: Zuton Fever, You Will You Won't, Havana Gang Brawl, and Long Time Coming
I mean it's Queen. Fave song: The March Of The Black Queen Honorable Mentions: Father To Son, White Queen, and Nevermore
Very, very good jazz. Miles Davis is one of the best.
Mid. Fave song: Spanish Dancer
Awesome album. Loved it. Almost every song built to something cool and they were just really great songs. Fave song: Miles From Nowhere Honorable Mentions: Wild World, Father and Son, and Where Do the Children Play?
Legendary. Fave song: Killing In The Name Honorable Mentions: Bullet In The Head, Know Your Enemy
Not really my thing. Fave song: Chest Fever
Ok so I was actually gonna give this a low 2, was not vibing, but then the second half kicked in. The second half is very good, bumped it all the way to a high 3. I like how they just get super fuckin weird with it. Fave song: Listen to the Music Honorable Mentions: Summer Breeze, Sunshine
Nostalgia goes hard. Was nice to listen to this. Fave song: Writer In The Dark
Holy fucking shit this is good. Was not expecting to like this album as much as I did. Fave song: China Girl (oh my god this song in and of itself makes the album a 5 it's so good)
There were a few genuinely good songs in here. Fave song: Hot Burrito #1
Pretty good actually. Enjoyed listening to almost all the songs. Fave song: I'm Not Your Stepping Stone
CAUSE IM MR BRIIIIIGHTSIDE
Mind numbingly happy but undeniably good. Fave song: Graceland
One of the worse Kinks albums. Still, not terrible. Fave Song: Autumn Almanac
Very good Fave song: A Day At The Races
Nice vibe to chill to, and really funny lyrics. Fave Song: Them Changes
Metal AF. Rip Ozzie. Fave Song: Changes Honorable Mentions: Wheels of Confusion, Supernaut, Snowblind, Under the Sun
Got everything I love about punk! Fave song: Violet Honorable Mentions: Doll Parts, Jennifer's Body, She Walks On Me
Album was good but nothing holds a candle to the masterpiece title song. Fave song: You know which one Honorable Mentions: Wasted Time, Victim of Love
I do NOT know about this one, chief. There are some genuinely good moments in this album, but for the most part... mehhhhh... I don't know. Not my thing. Fave song: These Days
FUCK YEAH BAD BRAINS YEAHHH LETS GO HARDCORE MUSIC FUCK YEAHHHHHHHH BITCH WOOOOOO!!!!!!!!
So weird, so good. I love it. Those few instrumental tracks near the end were *chefs kiss* Fave song: Heroes Honorable Mentions: Joe the Lion, Blackout, V-2 Schneider, Moss Garden
Surprisingly really good. Throughout, the tracks were interesting and cool. Fave song: Rhythm Nation Honorable mention: livin' in a world
Amazing rock. Some real classics on here. Not a bad song on the album. Fave song: Walk This Way Honorable mentions: Sweet Emotion, Round And Round
Quite good. Liked most of the songs. Fave song: Howlin' For You Honorable mentions: Tighten Up, The Only One
really good, solid album. Fave song: Every Breath You Take Honorable mentions: synchronicity 1 and 2
Started off strong but was too long and too much of the same. Really thought id like this more than I did
Absolutely giga ass. This deserves to be on interpols least wanted list. The synths sound like sonic the hedgehog if he was suffering from pancreatic cancer. The voice is stupid as fuck. But every once in a while... it sounds exactly as ass as the rest of the album. This is the music equivalent of being spit on by a hobo with neon hair. I would rather die slowly of radiation poisoning than listen to this abomination again.
Solid album, sort of wish the songs were divided into shorter chunks cause some parts are a bit slow but really get going later on in the song. Fave song: Black Sabbath
Way better than I thought itd be. Some songs were genuinely really good. Fave song: Gotta Get Up Honorable mention: Coconut (what a weird fuckin song)
Almost gave this a 2 but the last song was fire. Fave song: Make It Right
Super solid album. Absolute vibes. Fave song: The World is a Ghetto Honorable mention: City, Country, City
Enjoyable little album.
If Scott 2 was good. Fave song: In Pursuit of Happiness
Whole album's a vibe. Not particularly memorable but enjoyable.
Just okay. Low 3. Not really my kind of music. Fave song: Ramble Tamble Honorable mention: Round the Bend
High 4, close to being a 5 but not quite. Most of the album was terrific, but the last 3 songs were kinda mid and tonally different than the rest of the album. It also made the album longer than it needed to be, and man that was a long album. Fave song: In My Time of Dying Honorable Mention: Kashmir
Total Drama Island core, in a good way. Also what in the fuck was Moog Raga. That shit threw me so off guard. Also I don't like the flexing at the end of the album where they say how awesome they are for all the instruments they use. Like shut the fuck up. But other than that I enjoyed listening. Fave song: Wasn't Born to Follow Honorable Mention: Goin' Back
What the shitting fuck was that?!
Ok the lyrics were fire, but there wasn't much to go off of instrument-wise. Gave me the same feeling I had with the Simon and Garfunkel album. Fave song: Masters of War
Extremely mid. None of the songs stood out to me.
Half the songs are pretty good, the other half are fucking awesome. Fave song: Voodoo Dolly Honorable Mention: Spellbound
Good but not amazing, besides Bitter Sweet Symphony, which is a certified banger. Fave song: Bitter Sweet Symphony Honorable mentions: Drugs Don't Work, Catching The Butterfly
Normie mid.
Pretty good, standard rock. Fave song: roadhouse blues
Very good, high 3. First song was the best one.
If sex was a music genre. I got pregnant just by listening to this album. Fave song: I've Got You Under My Skin Honorable mention: We'll Be Together Again
