Aug 13 2025

Large vocal range and range of instruments. Some jazz and musical vibes. Enjoyed the upbeat Lucky and upbeat sections of Woman’s Blues. Not that accessible for easy listening and not my favourite style.

Dookie by Green Day
Aug 14 2025

Great angsty youth album. Driving guitar, drums that pop, and iconic lyrics.First few songs feel like fill though I do love that drum sound. That run in the middle is incredible. Welcome to Paradise makes me want to jump. The reflective FOD is a nice change of pace.

Dire Straits by Dire Straits
Aug 16 2025

This album would be great from Sultans of Swing alone. The other songs hold their own, though none cross the line into favourites. Atmospheric, want to listen to on good headphones. Great guitars.

Raising Hell by Run-D.M.C.
Aug 17 2025

I’m sure it was revolutionary at the time but not the kind of hip hop or even old school hip hop I feel like listening to now. Some fun drum fills but lyrics were shouty.

Hot Rats by Frank Zappa
Aug 18 2025

Mostly instrumental jazzy-rock. Great sounds. Songs 2&3 in particular

Vol. 4 by Black Sabbath
Aug 19 2025

Supernaut was fun, Changes was okay. The rest sounded decent but not that memorable.

Third by Soft Machine
Aug 21 2025

Probably better if you’re on drugs.

Clandestino by Manu Chao
Aug 22 2025

Better than I expected, grew on me. Didn’t like the title track or Tijuana but liked the bongo one and a few others. Huge variety in music in this one, every song different.

Birth Of The Cool by Miles Davis
Aug 23 2025

Still partial to Kind of Blue but this is good, should listen to again.

GI by Germs
Aug 25 2025

Didn’t get through the whole thing. Weird in a not particularly good way.

Let's Get It On by Marvin Gaye
Aug 26 2025

Inoffensive and pleasant though not something I’d go back to often

Liquid Swords by GZA
Aug 27 2025

This was fun. 4th chamber and Swordsman had great flow.

Bat Out Of Hell by Meat Loaf
Aug 30 2025

2 out of 5 ain’t bad. Had some Italian restaurant vibes but not as good

Ananda Shankar by Ananda Shankar
Sep 01 2025

Took a bit to get into but Sagar slaps! Metamorphosis was good too.

Liege And Lief by Fairport Convention
Sep 03 2025

Pretty vocals and some good instrumental parts but not something I could really get into for an hour.

Club Classics Vol. One by Soul II Soul
Sep 05 2025

Nice background dance music. Didn’t like Back to Life as much as its popularity would suggest. African Dance was groovy

Surf's Up by The Beach Boys
Sep 06 2025

Liked this more than I expected. Listened through to Pet Sounds after Brian Wilson died and couldn’t get into it. This was more Neil Young than barbershop quartet. Felt ahead of its time.

Disraeli Gears by Cream
Sep 07 2025

A couple really good songs but back half felt weak

Slanted And Enchanted by Pavement
Sep 10 2025

Not for me. Some better Pavement songs autoplayed afterwards.

Safe As Milk by Captain Beefheart & His Magic Band
Sep 12 2025

Different and some nice bluesy parts. Probably not something I’ll come back to though.

Oar by Alexander 'Skip' Spence
Sep 14 2025

Categorizing this as weird folk. Another one that’s probably better on drugs. Interesting and not necessarily bad but not gonna listen to it often.

Out Of The Blue by Electric Light Orchestra
Sep 16 2025

Turn to Stone and Mr Bluesky I like. The rest is closer to filler.

Dig Your Own Hole by The Chemical Brothers
Sep 17 2025

I thought this was gonna be a 1 star at first but then I got into the groove. Nice

Metal Box by Public Image Ltd.
Sep 18 2025

Not my kinda noise

Smash by The Offspring
Sep 19 2025

4.5 stars. Middle section slaps. Fun stop-start guitar riffs and some ska influence. Better driving fast than slow.

The Genius Of Ray Charles by Ray Charles
Sep 20 2025

Solid, though the first track set high expectations it didn’t quite maintain throughout.

I'm Your Man by Leonard Cohen
Sep 22 2025

Not your granddad’s Cohen. 80s Cohen is a skip for me.

Tracy Chapman by Tracy Chapman
Sep 25 2025

Can’t believe I thought she was a one hit wonder. This whole album is great with emotions swinging between defiance and desperation. Revolution and Mountains are new favourites.

Goo by Sonic Youth
Sep 26 2025

Not bad but not memorable.

High Violet by The National
Oct 10 2025

Immersive, probably really good if you’re really into music world or live in lemon world. A bit inaccessible to me though. The Ohio song slightly catchier

Steve McQueen by Prefab Sprout
Oct 12 2025

The best and worst of the 80s in one album. Really liked Appetite. Some of the back half dragged on

Dusty In Memphis by Dusty Springfield
Oct 15 2025

Son of a Preacher Man revives this a bit
