1001 Albums Summary

Large vocal range and range of instruments. Some jazz and musical vibes. Enjoyed the upbeat Lucky and upbeat sections of Woman’s Blues. Not that accessible for easy listening and not my favourite style.

Great angsty youth album. Driving guitar, drums that pop, and iconic lyrics.First few songs feel like fill though I do love that drum sound. That run in the middle is incredible. Welcome to Paradise makes me want to jump. The reflective FOD is a nice change of pace.

Cross between The Who and the Beatles B-sides. Liked the title track, didn’t like the cat song. Not bad.

This album would be great from Sultans of Swing alone. The other songs hold their own, though none cross the line into favourites. Atmospheric, want to listen to on good headphones. Great guitars.

I’m sure it was revolutionary at the time but not the kind of hip hop or even old school hip hop I feel like listening to now. Some fun drum fills but lyrics were shouty.

Mostly instrumental jazzy-rock. Great sounds. Songs 2&3 in particular

Supernaut was fun, Changes was okay. The rest sounded decent but not that memorable.

Probably better if you’re on drugs.

Better than I expected, grew on me. Didn’t like the title track or Tijuana but liked the bongo one and a few others. Huge variety in music in this one, every song different.

Still partial to Kind of Blue but this is good, should listen to again.

Layla is good, the rest is meh

Didn’t get through the whole thing. Weird in a not particularly good way.

Took a bit to get into but Sagar slaps! Metamorphosis was good too.

Nice background dance music. Didn’t like Back to Life as much as its popularity would suggest. African Dance was groovy

Liked this more than I expected. Listened through to Pet Sounds after Brian Wilson died and couldn’t get into it. This was more Neil Young than barbershop quartet. Felt ahead of its time.

A couple really good songs but back half felt weak

Intro had me ready for Mary Chapin Carpenter. This fell short.

4.5 stars. Middle section slaps. Fun stop-start guitar riffs and some ska influence. Better driving fast than slow.

Solid, though the first track set high expectations it didn’t quite maintain throughout.

Can’t believe I thought she was a one hit wonder. This whole album is great with emotions swinging between defiance and desperation. Revolution and Mountains are new favourites.

Real weird and not super listenable, but fun

Son of a Preacher Man revives this a bit
