1001 Albums Summary

This is probably biased because I’m not a Johnny Cash fan in general, but not a great first album to be generated. Not one of these covers is better than the original version. Sorry, just not my preference.

Great if you love Blitzkrieg Bop. I appreciated that all of the songs were short and uptempo. Did it get repetitive? Sure. Not my favorite, but I can appreciate what Ramones did for punk music.

Aside from London Calling (the track itself, not the album) I haven’t heard much else from The Clash somehow. This was great.

I was feeling particularly melancholy today, a result of a rainy commute home and lingering existential crisis from New Year, so this album kind of hit the right spots today when otherwise it wouldn’t really have been my jam.

5th album and 1st artist that I have never heard of before. I didn’t hate it, but I didn’t love it either. Kind of “meh” but nothing specifically to say in either direction.

Blues isn’t really my thing but I can appreciate BB King and what he did for the genre. Plus it was a short enough album and the crowd added energy so it was easy to get through and enjoy.

The singles/hits (which I have of course heard before) were catchy, but the rest of the album was nothing special. Not awful, just meh.

Short, upbeat, and catchy. I have heard Just What I Needed before and wasn’t super pumped when this album popped up, but ended up being pleasantly surprised.

Probably would have never heard this album if not for this project… what a vibe.

I don’t know, something about most of these songs stressed me the f out.

Maybe I just don’t get it?

About what I expected going into it only having heard Proud Mary before.

His voice is grating. The harmonica is grating. This album was grating.

She has a good voice and the album had a nice, calming sound overall, but I was pretty bored otherwise.

This did not need to be so long.

Not awful. Not amazing. Okay enough and being brought back by Stranger Things. I can appreciate it for what it is.

I had never heard of this band before and I’m not sure what I was expecting but it wasn’t necessarily this. Some pleasant, some not so pleasant.

Exactly what I was expecting based on the cover and my limited experience with Eric Clapton.

Pros and cons. Biggest con being the unnecessary length. I got bored after a while. Still love Hey Ya, though.

I don’t know enough about jazz to give this a proper review, but it was a nice enough vibe on a Sunday morning.

Is everything going to be this boring? It wasn’t awful, but not great either.

I may not have enjoyed this as much on a different day, but I was really vibing with it for some reason.

The distinctive sound of The Smiths. I don’t hate it, but I don’t love it. The lyric “I’ve come to wish you an unhappy birthday, cause you’re evil…” did make me chuckle.

She can sing well but the songs were terrible. Just stick to Christmas.

Started out strong and then…. Not so much.

I’m not usually a fan of live albums, but this was a great vibe today.

I was not necessarily excited for this album but I enjoyed it more than I thought I would.

Very reminiscent of Rocky Horror and not in a good way. Just not my taste.

I guess I understand why it’s on the list, but just too slow/boring/experimental to be my thing.

I promised myself when I started this 34 albums ago that I would listen to each album in full as part of the project…. But apparently sometimes I just can’t. Only giving it 2 because HooDoo VooDoo was okay.

Oh goody. More 80s Brit pop or whatever this is.

Boring but in the right setting maybe it wouldn’t be so bad. Just tough to listen to a full album of this.

I understand the “they’re just shouting” reviews. They certainly aren’t singing. But I can appreciate this for what it is.

Ugh, it pained me to listen to Kanye but I forced myself to at least skim through. Hate to admit that some of this actually had a catchy beat. I could do without the random tracks of people speaking.

Not my genre but I guess I was just in the right mood for this today.

Boring soft rock that can be played in the background at a store or restaurant but not actually enjoyed.

Groovy, but not sure how much I really enjoyed it.

Some of the background music was catchy enough, fine to have on in the background while working. But I probably won’t listen to it again.

I had never heard of this band before today and based on the description / other reviews, I wasn’t sure what to expect. I kind of loved it though? I’ve been trying not to overuse the word “vibe”, but it certainly is a vibe!

What is happening?

I almost feel bad giving this a low score, so maybe I’ll listen again at some point in the future and feel differently, but this album just wasn’t for me at this time.

The first album I’ve already listened to in full that’s popped up on this list. Undoubtedly amazing voice but it does get repetitive after so many songs.

Definitely 90s alt-rock. For better or worse.

Fine if you like the song “Cars”. Like mostly every other album I’ve had generated so far, okay for background music while working but I probably won’t listen to it again.

Not my usual genre but I can appreciate Missy as a female rapper. And Work It is always a good time.

Pretty much as expected based on my knowledge of “Relax”.

Beginning and end were good, the middle dragged some. Benny and the Jets is an all time banger.

I get it. Accident. Paraplegic. Awful circumstances and he rose above to finish creating the album anyway. I cannot stand his voice and out of tune singing.

Automatic 5 from me.

Good if you like/aren’t sick of hearing Sweet Child O’ Mine.

I honestly enjoyed this. It was just so long.
