Live At The Star Club, Hamburg by Jerry Lee Lewis

It was fine. Ya know, it’s funny. I didn’t know anything about this artist, but as soon as I started listening, I got some bad vibes. And then I read his wiki and it was confirmed that he was a weirdo. And I have a feeling that like Elvis, he as a white man profited off the creation of black people.

Brothers by The Black Keys
Jan 05 2026

3.75/5 Love the clear influence of blues, soul, and rock. Classic riffs. Production maintains a nice level of grunge and rasp without getting muddy. Is Unknown Brother automatically a Christmas song because it features sleigh bells? Didn’t feel any personal connection to it though, nor did anything still out as particularly exceptional.

Blood On The Tracks by Bob Dylan

Doolittle by Pixies

Effortlessly cool. Your favorite band’s favorite band type beat. The shifts from punk to surf to anywhere else feel natural. Monkey Gone to Heaven is probably THE song of the record, but I am a bit partial to Debaser and There Goes My Gun for a little easier of a listen.

Jan 09 2026

I was in high school from 2012-2016 so obviously AM by the Arctic Monkeys was a foundational album for me. They had their signature sound from the start though. A little less commercially catchy, but just as strong. I’ve always loved the production on Alex Turner’s distinct vocals. Not sure how to describe it except to say that it sounds like they were recorded in voice notes without sounding shitty. It’s at least one aspect that led to them being a cornerstone of the indie sleaze scene.

Back To Black by Amy Winehouse
Jan 12 2026

I’ve seen complaints recently that albums are getting shorter, but this is an excellent example of a perfectly concise, iconic record. Timeless sound in a modern setting. Listening reminds me of what a great we lost, wondering what she would have gone on to create.

Unknown Pleasures by Joy Division
Jan 13 2026

One of those albums that I wouldn’t have been able to appreciate a few years ago because of the vocals. I can now see how cool and foundational it is though.

GI by Germs

Fine. Didn’t really hit for me.

Arular by M.I.A.
Jan 15 2026

In so many ways, seems like a clear precursor to Charli xcx. Really innovative and danceable beats. Playful but understatedly meaty lyrics.

British Steel by Judas Priest
Jan 16 2026

Not my thing. Sounds like Jack Black in School of Rock, but I’d rather listen to Jack.

The Köln Concert by Keith Jarrett
Jan 19 2026

Beautiful jazz improv. The live recording is so full of life.

Nilsson Schmilsson by Harry Nilsson
Jan 20 2026

Lime in the Coconut has never really been my vibe

...The Dandy Warhols Come Down by The Dandy Warhols
Jan 21 2026

Cool, drone-y grunge. Easy listening imo. Just didn’t shine enough to fall in love. It’s like a 3.5

Live At The Regal by B.B. King
Jan 26 2026

I have not historically been a live album lover but god this is ELECTRIC. The energy that was in that room in 1964 is preserved eternally and it is undeniable. The first track of Every Day I Have the Blues is transformed from its lyrics of heartache to a prayer and a promise. Every day I’ve got this genre of music that transcends time and space and circumstance. It’s a lifeline and you feel the weighty importance of a Black man getting to sing in a room full of people.

Skylarking by XTC
Jan 28 2026

I mean I love new wave and basically all of the genres that they straddle so I have no complaints

Jan 29 2026

An all-timer concept/story-telling album. The class discussion adds so much character. The only downside is that makes it a touch less listenable, to throw on aux. Perfect features. I kinda prefer the extended version with the cover of Can’t Take My Eyes Off of You.

Live At The Star Club, Hamburg by Jerry Lee Lewis

Songs From The Big Chair by Tears For Fears
Feb 05 2026

Head Over Heels is one of my favorite songs of all time, but really it’s a no skips album. Highly used in soundtracks for a reason.

Talking Book by Stevie Wonder
Feb 06 2026

Stevie has such a unique relationship to melody, harmonies, groove. It feels like a gift to witness.

Hybrid Theory by Linkin Park
Feb 10 2026

It’s not awful but nu metal is just not my thing. Just feeling like aggressively whiney or something.

Third by Soft Machine
Feb 11 2026

First track was a bit much for someone not on psychedelics, but I think if they made some Fantasia style visuals I could vibe with it. Second and fourth tracks I was into. Third track, the vocals bothered me too much. I’d give it like a 3.5 for listenability.

Lust For Life by Iggy Pop
Feb 13 2026

One of those albums that I didn’t realize was the influence for so many iconic songs.

Damaged by Black Flag
Feb 18 2026
Kollaps by Einstürzende Neubauten
Feb 19 2026

Nahhhh sorry this is a little too creative for me

The Low End Theory by A Tribe Called Quest
Feb 23 2026

Evident how influential it has been to the genre

Feb 26 2026

Hideous album art. Reminiscent of a lot of my 80s favorites like Tears for Fears and Talking Heads.

Gorillaz by Gorillaz
Mar 02 2026

The concept of Gorillaz as a group is very interesting to me. Makes me feel a little bit like a boomer lol. Lots of genre bending and blending. A lot of the tracks start off very cool and I’m into it, but most drag on to a point that I’m annoyed and ready to skip to the next.

Mar 04 2026

Really surprising that they weren’t equally famous as The Beatles. So so similar. I guess it’s that touch of edginess that makes them just a touch more obscure.

Music in Exile by Songhoy Blues
Mar 06 2026

Glad this was brought to my attention. Really cool. Into the desert blues.

May 04 2026

The singles are SO iconic and of that specific time period. But the rest of the album is a little bit of a snooze.

1989 by Taylor Swift
May 21 2026

Say what you want about Taylor but this is a perfect pop album. The second half is slept on. This Love has an all-timer bridge.
