Hunky Dory by David Bowie
Jan 05 2026

excellent lyricism, love how experimental some tracks are. e.g. andy warhol, wish the whole album had that vibe, though most instrumentals feel relatively common and "safe". not bowie's best by any means.

Boston by Boston
Jan 07 2026

one of the greatest rock albums of all time. god damn

Bitches Brew by Miles Davis
Jan 08 2026

experimental jazz experience that's for sure way ahead of its time. if you're gonna listen to this, set aside some time to properly get lost in the music. each track really is a journey here. very cool, thanks miles

Surf's Up by The Beach Boys
Jan 09 2026

boring and predictable lyricism. weird, but not for the sake of communicating anything of substance, just for the sake of being weird. idk man, not great, but i wouldn't say it's unlistenable or anything. just kinda dull.

3 Feet High and Rising by De La Soul
Jan 10 2026

it's evident they had a lot of fun making this, really shows in the final product. fantastic use of sampling techniques. overall, it's a few of semi-memorable tracks sandwiched in between a lot of filler. wouldn't expect or ask for more than that out of this album, it simply does what it needs to do.

Clandestino by Manu Chao
Jan 11 2026

this is more a case of this not exactly being my type of music rather than there being anything wrong with the music itself. it'd probably be a 3-star if i was into this and/or understood the lyrics

Jan 12 2026

wish i could give this a 2.5. lots of interesting ideas in here but most feel like they fall flat, at least to my taste. it's radiohead if radiohead was mid

Born To Run by Bruce Springsteen
Jan 13 2026

yeah bruce

Vauxhall And I by Morrissey
Jan 14 2026

minus points for the jd vance-esque stare on the cover art. and also for being morrissey in general. music's alright i guess, albeit whiny

Pieces Of The Sky by Emmylou Harris
Jan 16 2026

"The overall song selection was varied and showed early on how eclectic Harris's musical tastes were." who is any of this eclectic to...? i fail to see how this stands out at all among other country albums, even for its time, but maybe i'm missing something. great voice though

Live! by Fela Kuti
Jan 17 2026

hell yeah

Dummy by Portishead
Jan 19 2026

excellent

Here Are the Sonics by The Sonics
Jan 22 2026

abrasive, in a bad way. bland, maybe not for its time, but at least to modern ears. that said, recording, mixing, and mastering as a garage rock band in the mid-1960s was likely no easy task, especially if you're just a group of musicians working on your debut album with no prior knowledge and experience on how to do all those thi... wait, they had two producers on this album? _and_ a sound engineer? surely it shouldn't sound THIS bad then??? come on dated and ultimately forgettable.

Pet Sounds by The Beach Boys
Jan 24 2026

very niceys :)

Brothers by The Black Keys
Jan 26 2026
S.F. Sorrow by The Pretty Things
Jan 30 2026

stereo sound was invented specifically so that the mixing engineer on this record could twiddle knobs to his hearts desire good music though

Kollaps by Einstürzende Neubauten
Feb 02 2026

i like to think that i "get" this kind of music that said, this sounds pretty bad

Sound Affects by The Jam
Feb 05 2026

they should've called the book 1001 Studio Albums From English Rock Bands You Must Hear Before You Die i guess the music's good but like, yeah, toss it in the pile of all the other 3 outta 5 star albums on this list that sound exactly like this

Let It Bleed by The Rolling Stones
Feb 10 2026

a 2.5, to be clear

Pearl by Janis Joplin
Feb 15 2026
OK by Talvin Singh
Feb 16 2026
Getz/Gilberto by Stan Getz
Feb 18 2026

i get that it's meant to be minimal but it just comes off as kinda boring. the sax playing is definitely the highlight here, but that's it. could really benefit from more percussion to add texture to the sound (a snare played with brush drumsticks would elevate this album 10x)

Harvest by Neil Young
Feb 22 2026
Your Arsenal by Morrissey
Mar 01 2026

how am i like 50 albums into this list yet this is the THIRD morrissey album i'm being served. no more. i refuse

Dig Your Own Hole by The Chemical Brothers
Mar 02 2026

some tracks are a bit mid but the ones that aren't are certified Bangers. Good shit

Hybrid Theory by Linkin Park
Mar 17 2026

genuinely a great album, production is spot-on. don't let the internet irony police stop you from appreciating this for what it is

Either Or by Elliott Smith
Mar 19 2026

aggressively boring

Sunshine Superman by Donovan
Mar 20 2026

they really just let anyone be a singer songwriter back then huh

Tom Petty & The Heartbreakers by Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers
Mar 21 2026

the most "we're going to start a band just to try to get laid" ass shit i've ever heard

McCartney by Paul McCartney
Mar 25 2026

is this meant to sound like a collection of unfinished/scrapped works? that's kind of how it comes across to me

Gentlemen by The Afghan Whigs
Apr 08 2026

solid

Vol. 4 by Black Sabbath
