Fairly simple musically, nothing stands out. I'd say ... fine ... not great, not bad, just fine. Did recognize the 'old man sitting by the side of the road' song.
Reminds me a bit of no doubt - curious if Elvis C was an influence on them. Great bass lines.
Really like this - I can hear what’s leading to later Kanye. The second half of the album seems to drop off but 'Last Call' is a great ending to the album.
I don't even *have* to listen. Know this one well. It's gonna be five stars.
I feel like this is what Bob Dylan should be.
Love it - Sly is a genius. Everyday people and a few others were familiar. Loved the jam on Sex Machine.
Was interested to hear this because I had largely missed it when it came out - indie rock wasn't my thing. I definitely feel like they're throwing the kitchen sink at this. Heavy metal drummer is fun. Overall I like this but don't love it. I'd give it a 3.5 if there were half stars.
I think this just isn't my thing. Can't say there's anything wrong with it, just doesn't do much for me. I think my favorite moment was starting the album with a TIE fighter sound. I couldn't finish it.
Fun and definitely seems to point to future Queen music. I like Seven Seas of Rhye a lot. Pleasant but a ways to go until their later peak.
Seems like rock/blues to me - I'm not super into it but get what they're trying to do. I don't love his voice. There are a few fun songs.
I'm not the biggest punk guy - to me this all sounds the same.
I'm enjoying it - nothing really jumps out as bad or good to me but like their sound a lot.
Lol .. saw another review saying this was good for middle aged suburban dads who want to build some Irish heritage even though their ancestors have been in the US for 150 years. I feel attacked.
That said - I really like this album, well constructed lyrics and love the punk/Irish music fusion of it.
I feel like if I said make a classic rock album it would sound something like this. Smoke on the Water is huge, but overall a fun listen.
I really like this - hadn't listened to much marley before. Great feel, like the lyrics a lot too.
They have nice voices but honestly can't get into the genre - the subject and the music itself aren't my thing. It was a nice, quick listen though
Sounds like a standard 90s rock album to me. The standout track is 'Of Course'
I'm not really a country guy - this sounds well put together and Nanci Griffith occasionally sounds like she's been checking out some Joni Mitchell. But overall not my thing.
Like this - definitely hear things that are gonna be great in to pimp a butterfly. I'll never look at the eiffel tower the same way again.
Thought there were some interesting lines - not something that jumped out at me but also wasn't bad.
Feels like 90s rock.
These 60s/70s singer songwriter songs don't do much for me. I found it pleasant, and even enjoyed the hobo blues. But nothing really stood out.
Know it, love Desmond. This album is surprisingly adventurous for how big of a hit it was.
Don't love the lyrics, the music sounds good but it makes sense that a lot of it is probably Bowie. Honestly would rather listen to a Bowie album but nothing is wrong with this one.
Would rate this a 2.5 if I had half stars but round up to 3 for Bowie's presence.
Just feels very meh. The guitar work is very busy but the music doesn’t really hit me.
I had an ex who really liked Starlight but won't hold that against the album. I hear a bunch of Radiohead influence here. It's alright, not sure I'd listen again but I liked it.
Really like this! Hadn't heard of the artist before but the album strikes me as soul with touches of Stevie Wonder, Jimi Hendrix, Bob Marley, and Sly Stone. Will definitely come back to this one in the future.
I get that Elvis was a cultural phenomenon. But as music this doesn't really impress me much. He's not doing anything better than Ray Charles or Little RIchard had already done better. Really think we need to re-evaluate Elvis's significance. Could have been worse - could have been a Dylan album. Really debating between 1 and 2 stars.
This seems like Pat Boone level appropriation to me. That being said - it's well produced and nice to listen to.
Really like how stripped down this album is. I'm not the biggest Springsteen fan but he seems authentic in a way that a lot of musicians are not. Breaking this down to guitar, voice, and harmonica really makes it seem more spontaneous.
Great album from Michael even if it doesn't quite stack up to Thriller and Off The Wall. I love the guest appearances from Siedah Garrett and Stevie Wonder. Definitely some of the songs are a bit of a drag on the album as a whole - thinking of Speed Demon and Liberian Girl.
Well sung and well produced. I'm not the biggest fan of this genre - it honestly sounds too slick but I can appreciate the craft that went into this.
Wow ... this was unexpected but welcome. The other reviews are right that it's a long album, but it's interesting. I hear some things that suggest vocal cross-pollination with Freddie Mercury to me. Mr. Brightside is the only one I'd known before but overall it's a good listen even if it tends towards background music at points.
Lol, I lived through the 90s. I didn't even like Green Day and I feel like this was the soundtrack of high school. Good for nostalgia value and feels like well crafted pop rock.
Lol ... bittersweet symphony brings back weird memories of college. But also my first thought on seeing this was 'oh no, another britpop album'. Beyond Bittersweet Symphony it sounds pretty generic. Wow, the awared for completely unnecessary hidden track goes to them.
I like the groove - especially the drummer. Not the biggest punk guy but this is good (for me) for that genre.
This is pretty close to a perfect album. From the beginning track to the end it's so well performed and composed. Really love Marvin Gaye's first real social statement. I knew it was five stars when it popped up but will definitely take the chance to listen again.
Interesting comparing this to Sgt. Peppers era Beatles.
Catchy, not my favorite but didn’t feel like wasted time
Outkast is always great - I think this is slightly below the speakerboxx/love below level, but has great songs like Mrs. Jackson, Bombs Over Baghdad, and So Fresh So Clean
Another day, another brit rock album. This fine ... but it could have been from any number of brit rock bands. And this is a compilation? Yuck.
Honestly liked this better than I expected - punk isn't my genre. I liked the irony of covering Sonny and Cher and the music seemed pretty well played.
I've always associated this as one work with Kid A so it's interesting to listen on its own. Morning Bell is a beautiful song ... overall I prefer Kid A slightly but this is still a great album.
