I mean, I have no idea what I've been listening to, but it's not bad? Didn't listen to all of the bonus tracks, as it takes to album to over two hours and I just don't have that kind of patience currently. I probably won't be listening again, but at least it was decent enough.
Before going into this I knew Aretha Franklin had a good voice but damn. This was great - loved every track, great mixture of blues and amazing vocals.
Not as polished as Urban Hymns, but a solid album nonetheless. Not really in the best place while listening, but it seemed to compliment where I was well.
Strong start, bit of a slog around the middle, very strong end. Great voice and guitar, but very prog-y at times.
Really enjoyed this one, solid blues rock album.
Decent enough as background listening, but not particularly exciting. "I stole your car" was probably the highlight for me.
A very quick album to get through, reasonably simple punk rock but kept me mostly interested.
Genre defining album. Although it's aged a bit, it's still reasonably exciting listening. Unsure as to whether it's interesting enough to listen to again in the future.
Properly enjoyed this album. Grungey feeling at times, and always a good level of rock music with strong vocals. Highlight was probably "This Mess We're In" with Thom Yorke or "This Is Love". Will probably listen again, and will have a look to see what else PJ Harvey has done.
Unrelated to my thoughts on the rest of the album, but "Faron Young" instantly made me think that Prefab Sprout had lifted the riff from Dr. Feelgood's "Roxette". Enjoyed "Bonny", less fond of the rest though. The style of the album seems to change with every song, so while I'm sort of trying to like this album, the lack of consistency is a bit frustrating.
I wasn't expecting to love this album so much. Properly enjoyed it from beginning to end, and will definitely be adding this to my regular listening. I can see why this album made it so high in the UK album charts, tune after tune from the get-go.
Sort of went by without me really noticing.
As chaotic as the Sex Pistols were trying to be, it's all a lot more musical than I was expecting and clearly has it's roots in Rhythm and Blues. Aside from some homophobia that hasn't aged well, the rest of the album flows pretty well, and I enjoyed pretty much all of it.
Not the most interesting album in the world, kind of felt like an album of Beatles tracks that didn't make the cut, but I enjoyed it enough for 3/5
Aside from not understanding the language, it's pretty good blues.
Good sleezy album all the way through, not really my genre, but still a good album.
I went into this feeling a bit sceptical having seen the rest of the group rate it pretty badly; as it turned out, very much my jam. Ended up thoroughly enjoying this album, the transition from energetic to somewhat lethargic while remaining organised chaos was great. Will definitely listen to more Talking Heads in the future, and probably give the album another listen reasonably soon. Not "perfect" enough for 5/5, but a solid 4 for sure.
I've always had it in my head that AC/DC basically just write the same song over and over again, but I ended up really enjoying the album from start to finish. Musical highlight of my weekend.
I've listened to and enjoyed this album before. Kashmir is probably my all-time favourite song so that was an obvious highlight. I think most of the tracks are very well put together, with exciting, dynamic drumming and some amazing riffs. It's long, and at times is just plain old blues rock, but I still think the album is worthy of 5 stars.
I get that this was a big album at the time, and a big deal for Eminem, but there are other hip hop albums from around the same time that I think are better. It's fine, I sort of enjoyed it, but not that much. 2 edgy 4 me maybe.
Country music isn't really my thing, but compared to some albums I've listened to recently, this was alright.
The difficulty here was deciding between 1 and 2 stars. Really not my thing.
Was a little bit unsure about what I was in for at the start of the first track, but ended up enjoying it enough. Not amazing, but not bad either.
Decent album but not particularly memorable tracks. Doesn't sound as refined as Celebrity Skin.
Yeah Leonard, your poetry is great and all, but can you make it more 80's? - Say no more. Opens very synthy, followed by a few less memorable rambly tracks. "Take This Waltz" sounds very Roger Waters-esque and is probably the highlight of the album for me. Can't say I'm convinced by the backup singers. Overall an unoffensive album, decent enough background noise.
I had no idea what genre I was listening to at the start of the first track, but overall a pretty decent story driven album. The 6th Sense was the highlight for me.
Vocals like Cher, but better music in the background. Actually really enjoyed this, good music to work to.
Better than I was expecting, made for unoffensive background listening but I probably won't give it another listen
I think I enjoyed this, but it kind of passed by while I was concentrating, so it's difficult to tell.
Short album of pretty decent covers. I wasn't expecting to like this going into it, but Rod won me over with his smooth vocals like every woman over 70.
Weird and wonderful. Pretty hooked the entire time, will listen again and explore more Talking Heads for sure.
Not my usual style of music, but she does have a great voice. "One More Dance" was really weird, but she did a nice version of "House of the Rising Sun"
First track was just musical anxiety, 1/5 Rest of the album was decent enough, 3/5
Thought the riff from the first track was familiar; turns out it was recently sampled for "the ground below" by Run the Jewels. Enjoyed the album at the start, but grew bored as time went on, was thinking this was going to be 4/5 after the first few tracks but it slipped a bit.
Halcyon + On + On was the only track I knew coming into this album, and happily the rest of it was pretty solid too.
This album is famed for changing alternative music, and I can see why. Enjoyed this album from start to finish, it sounded well mixed, my only issue is I don't remember much about the last few tracks as they seemed less distinctive than the rest. Very torn between 4 and 5 stars, as I really enjoyed the album, but it isn't perfect. I'll probably round up from 4.5 here, as I preferred it to the albums I've given 4 stars to.
I went into this with high hopes as I'd heard good things about LCD Soundsystem, but didn't end up enjoying it much at all. Most of this album was reasonably forgettable background noise, but there were a few more jarring moments which made it difficult to concentrate on work and I ended up just wishing the album would finish sooner. I remember liking one track, but as I'm writing this during the last track it feels like it was ages ago.
Pretty high energy and engaging all the way through the first disc. I've enjoyed this a lot more than I thought I would do; especially impressive given it's Jamiroquai's first album.
I mean, I have no idea what I've been listening to, but it's not bad? Didn't listen to all of the bonus tracks, as it takes to album to over two hours and I just don't have that kind of patience currently. I probably won't be listening again, but at least it was decent enough.
Unsure on this one. I liked it enough for 3/5, but not for much more. Most of the tracks were reasonably relaxing, though not particularly memorable, with the exception of Pale Blue Eyes. Cool hearing Lou Reed's voice from when he was younger, I liked his collab with Gorillaz for Plastic Beach.
Loved every second of this. Such a great stage presence and an amazing sound. I've listened to this album before, but it had been a while.
I mean, it was alright. I've been struggling through a ridiculously long install process while listening to this, so maybe the activity corrupted the music, but I didn't enjoy this as much as I thought I would. Might give another listen at some point when I'm in a better place.
Really not my thing, though I'm not sure I'm in the best headspace for listening to new music today. None of this album was memorable for me, sorry Janet.
Really not my thing, I've heard of Dinosaur Jr. before and went in with high hopes - they were quickly and efficiently dashed.
Some decent tracks, but overall lacking anything special.
Ending up liking this more than I thought I would. Very Daria feeling sound.
Not particularly fond of Neil Young's music. Just didn't really find it all that interesting
Really not my thing, miserable album about love doesn't seem to do it for me in this style.
Similar to the last Common album in this generator, his storytelling is amazing. I enjoyed this album more than Like Water For Chocolate - it feels more refined. Really enjoyed this, will be listening to more Common in the future.
Before going into this I knew Aretha Franklin had a good voice but damn. This was great - loved every track, great mixture of blues and amazing vocals.
Listened in the background and it was fine, but nothing particularly special to me.
Bit of a guilty pleasure, enjoyed the album. It's Only Natural, Fall At Your Feet, Weather With You are all amazing and there's a load of quality tracks in between. The hidden track caught me a little off guard mind.
Enjoyed this more than I was expecting to. Good pace and interesting songs throughout.
It's basically just a 38 minute jam session. I know Miles Davis is a fantastic trumpeter, but this is just long and noodley.
Really odd album this one. I'd heard Jackie before and assumed all the songs would be pretty much the same - I was half right. Baritone voice singing songs written by other people, but Next was a really weird and chilling track.
Very ramble-y, but ended up enjoying it a lot more than I thought I would. Wonderfully nonsensical storytelling.
Aside from The Beautiful People, I'd not heard any of this album before, and I'm not going to be jumping to hear it again.
Not as polished as Urban Hymns, but a solid album nonetheless. Not really in the best place while listening, but it seemed to compliment where I was well.
Strong start, and it kept up decent level throughout. It's interesting that this was a punk rock band around the same time as the Sex Pistols, as the sound is much more refined and melodic. Would probably listen again.
Better than I expected. Ended up enjoying this a reasonable amount, though I probably won't be itching to listen to it again any time soon.
Erm, not really my thing. I'm sure it's a good album for those who enjoy System of a Down, but I didn't find it the most enjoyable.
This was a bit of a weird one; I know it's a very highly rated album, but the gangster rap where everyone's verses are about how hard they are and how they'll shot whoever don't generally appeal. Express Yourself stood out as not fitting in with the rest of the album at all, with Dre rapping about how he doesn't smoke weed because it messes with your head, and how wannabe gangsters rap about stuff they've never experienced before. It all felt a bit surreal and in complete contrast to everything else.
I've associated Def Leppard with being stripper music for a while, and kind of assumed it was all just middle of the road AOR. However, I properly enjoyed this album. It's a but dated and probably pretty sexist, but the tracks are all decent and well written. Enjoyed it more than I thought I would.
Hey Tom, how many different genres do you think we can get away with on one album? The only consistent part of this album is how many tabs he must have smoked to maintain a voice like that.
I knew the title track, but the rest of the album was new to me. I enjoy his theatrical style, but the rest of the album isn't all that memorable.
A few well known tracks on this album. Ended up enjoying it a lot more than I thought I would.
Decent enough album, very chill. Highlight of the album was the slightly less chilled out Frontier Psychiatrist.
A bit bland tbh, nothing really stood out as particularly memorable and it all just kind of merged into one lump.
Eh, sort of enjoyed this, but again not wonderfully memorable.
