Golden Hour
Kacey MusgravesIt was ok, didnt grab me
It was ok, didnt grab me
Good harmonies, but nothing making me want to relisten
I tried to like it but there wasnt anything here for me. i can hear some similarities to new order and other bands of the time but nothing grabs me.
Interesting, quite a bit of variety. Some really punky discordant stuff, some mellow. Could see as an influence to grunge and alternative bands like smashing pumpkins
It has a few head bobbing hits, but some real slow boring ones near the end. im still learning how to rate. 1 is obviously garbage, 2 is something i can take from it, 3 is some good hits and replays (could make it through twice), 4 is good, like has songs i will listen to outside this challenge, and 5 is rare but like nearly if not all songs are either great or connect to me in some way. with that in mind … between 2 and 3, so 3.
If you told me Dr Dre, Ice Cube, and Easy E were in a band, id think 5 stars. That being said, it rocks but im not sure how much replay id give it. Im a tough critic, 3 or 4 … out of the rest ive graded thus far, i didnt need to skip many, maybe one, so 4
I wish i could grade it and move on, love this album, 5 stars for sure!
Just terrible, the only song i like is the one from the fight club ost. Mostly just annoying like listening to drunk siblings do karoeke
Im not trying to make it a theme (grading just things i already love a 5), but come on, this album is killer. I really do hope to find some hidden gems and things that inspire me, but this curb stomps the pixies. After listening again, still rocks but very glad Corey sang more on following albums. they improved with timd
I tried, i did, even though i cant stand country music. i hear the mix of beatles-eske with country. cant get into it
Its kind of difficult to judge this one as I didnt grow up with it or listen to it as an album. walk this way and sweet emotion are obvious hits but the rest dont even sound like they belong on the same album. very tough to grade, if i can give the beatles a 2, then i can with this too.
I was in a calm mood, so this was clicking some. Its a bit country-ish with the steel guitar and twang, but much better than the regular old country. im thinking a 2-3. pleasant surprise. I may give it another listen
Something i have not heard from an artist i havent heard of. It wasnt bad, i didnt really skip around. It didnt grab me either. I dont know how to rate, 2. no hits for me
Pretty damn good, cant beat harmonies like that. It could be a five and probably should be, but a high 4
Not my favorite Prince album, but didnt skip around much either. He is clearly an amazing musician, but doing … 2
Interesting, not really clickin’ though, drums are cool, very lively. Not for me
What to say, … it would take a few more listens, but its much like crosby still nash and young. great talent, i know they are loved, not hitting that bar.
Its Jimi. I have not listened to an album of his from beginning to end, only greatest hits. While i cant say anything new stood out, it was consistant and didnt need to skip around. solid 3
Really? Purple Rain. One of my favorite albums of all time. 5 stars, next.
Actually ok, considering its really country. its the voice, it is that god aweful country style, this doesnt have the twang and make me feel like im listening to an uneducated redneck telling me how he fell in love with the most beautiful beer, but chose to fuck his truck. made it through without skipping much. i dont see myself listening to it more than once, but ‘good on ya. at least a 2
Im trying to take it for what it is. The point of doing this for all genres is to give it a chance. Its old country blues with a single guy singing and playing guitar. topics include whatever and i mean whatever. a song about bed bugs… still better than the twang but wont relisten … 1 to 2
I have heard this one is good. Im not a big Green day fan but can see why its popular.
Unexpected selection and pretty solid. I gave it a few listens and particularly like the bass lines compared to ‘dont you forget about me’ solid 3
Seems pretty solid, background music is good and raps sound ok. Didnt have to skip around much. 2
I have heard of Lana Del Ray but knew nothing about her. Her high pitch and airy vocals were mostly pleasing and the music was ok for being folky. I dont see myself listening to more, but it was ok.
I listened to about half of it, got too busy.
Interesting album, its pretty good. I dont know if he has a female sing on some of his songs but if not his falsetto is amazing. his tone reminds me of Roy Orbison in the lower register.
I can somewhat appreciate some of the works that was put into it, but its just abrasive. Its like if you take synth wave, mix it with whatever samples you can find, mangle it all up and add a dance beat to it. 1 star
I have heard some Cohen on a soundtrack once. It was ok. The album has some nice ambiance in some songs but his singing style is kinda repetitive as its more like talking.
It was ok, didnt grab me
It was ok, tried to give it a chance because my dad was a fan. 2*
Didnt grab me, early punk. It was ok
It sounded ok, didnt listen to it intently, more as background
Its been good enough to just let it freeflow on into other motown stuff. Maybe im just in that kind of mood. im gonna break tradition and go with 3, even though i cant name a hit
Was ok
Im losing my review steam, it was ok
Not really in a christmas mode, couldnt get into it
Couldnt get into it
Meh, its ok, no real hits
This album and band was unavoidable in the 90s with like 5 singles released off of it. its pretty solid, but overall cant give it a 5, so i will go with a 4
Not really for me, but gotta give em a point for combining styles
Its Aretha man, solid stuff. Its not my normal genre but deserves a 4. Love me some motown stuff every once in awhile
Hmmm, not terrible but see myself listening to it again. The vocal style is kinda obnoxius. 2
Didnt grab me at all but didnt have to stop or skip around either
It was ok. basic industrial boom like prodigy but also reminded me of weird bjork stuff in the way of random song building and samples
Couldnt get past two songs
Just terrible, not my thing. I like rap but there isnt even interesting samples
Its Frank, its good.
Nothing really grabbed me. Ace of Spades is always good but didnt come away with any other hits.
Just terrible, i dont know how to describe it, lounge music mixed with showtunes?
Reminds me if the band Berlin was smoking with Jefferson Airplane but in a future decade. It was ok
Very discordant and obnoxious. Would be better without the screamy lead singer
Who knew the Strokes were out in 1978? To me it sounds like they owe alot to this band for their sound. That and the Ramones. Solid surprise -
Not my thing, ok though
Quality album
A couple of hits, easy to play though
Im not a jazz guy but this actually good
Their covers and original Strychnine is good. 2
Some cool bass grooves. A bit much in the mix though, started to get headache
Good but short.
Reminded me of Rhcp some.
I know its unfair cause im already a fan, but 5
For mariachi music, its ok.
My favorite Ministry album, very solid with hits.
Sounds like if the Cure grew up in a happier family lol
Good and chill
It reminded me Peter Gabriel. Didnt have to skip tracks, so to me it was ok
