This is what straight men listen to, huh?
Ugh so fucking beautiful, I’m a Nick Cave stan now.
Not the easiest Björk listening experience, I’m more partial to her more accessible stuff from Post. But it’s beautiful nonetheless. Oceania and triumph of a heart are my favorite. 3.5/5
It was hard to listen at times.
Great instrumentation, interesting chord progressions, unique songwriting.
Nice but boring at times.
Not the kind of music I usually listen to but I liked it. Interesting and captivating sounds. 3.5/5
This is what straight men listen to, huh?
Meh
Nice music. Some songs more interesting than others though.
Nice listening experience. Hate to say I didn’t grow up listening to hip hop, but I’m eager to hear more from this era.
Enjoyed the sampling on this album.
Nice listening, although I don’t see myself coming back to this.
Guitar was really good. Preferred the instrumental tracks over the songs with his voice. Finches and Alice’s Wonderland were my favorite. 3.5/5
Interesting for sure. The 90s vibe is good, but the lead singer sounds like Justin Roiland though so
Yea! Wish I had someone to dance with do this album.
It’s kinda nice but it got boring very quickly
Great instrumentals.
Musically the album sticks to one style, sometimes leaves me wanting for a bit of variety, but she does that style so well. Ex Factor, Doo Wop, the title track, and Can’t Take My Eyes Off of You are my favorites. Queen.
Body count was a nice surprise, sonically.
First few tracks were nice and interesting. Kinda became a more quick though. Great instrumentals though.
Very rare moments we’re enjoyable. Some of the singing and lyrics are kinda funny. Mostly this album hurt my ears. Literally. I’m not trying to make a joke. My ears starting ringing as I listened to this.
Ngl I’m just not into Nirvana music for the most part. I do like Heart-Shaped Box and All Apologies but I already heard these songs before.
Felt orchestral throughout which I really liked.
First track sounded familiar. Good music.
Beautiful is the word that comes for mind.
Great late 80s music.
A pianist. A vocalist. The song Four Women is impactful. Looking forward to hearing more of her music.
It reminded me of that Pere Ubu album in the way that there's sounds clashing. Although I liked this one more. A lot of the music was pleasing to hear, even amidst all that chaotic noise.
Not for me, but the guitar on this album is insane.
It was a chore listening through the whole album. Lead's vocals are kinda nice though.
You know what, I actually appreciated the musicality of the album. I suppose I’m a little more open-minded after hearing this album when it comes to heavy or death metal. But it’s still a no for me.
Some interesting moments but meh
I liked it a lot. Kinda wanna give it a 4 but I’ll stick with a 3.
It’s fun and mesmerizing. First half was stronger than second half. Track 2 is soo good.
Too flamboyant.
Leonard makes church, gospel music. Idk why but that’s what comes to mind. But, like unorthodox. His lyrics, guitar, even his voice is really beautiful on this album. I like the moments with the female background singers too. My favorites were Suzanne and Master Song. Great album, but I wished I liked it more.
Nice chill and groovy record.
Beautiful
Cool sounds.
Hmmm well I liked the fist couple of songs. Like the stile but the songs themselves got a bit boring as the album went on.
Meh, another boring rock album.
So halfway through the I thought to myself “this is kinda bonkers.”
Funky!
Loved the lyrics in Spanish. Really like this kind of euro music
pretty good hip hop music
Reminded me a lot of Solange's music which I like.
It's fine. The last track was the most interesting. 2.5/5.
Instrumentals were nice, but the lyrics? Choices.
Good instrumentation coming from the Taylor Swift cover artist.
Eh. The bluesy style was nice but the songs themselves were meh
I loooove the Prettiest Star. And love the piano in Lady Grinning Soul. I think I should relisten. For now I’m gonna have to give it a 3. Great musical choices and definitely more interesting than most of the boring dad rock music we’ve gotten recently.
I was looking forward to this. It’s ok. Kinda repetitive stylistically speaking.
Ugh so fucking beautiful, I’m a Nick Cave stan now.
Love her voice and tone. Not the biggest fan of the album though. Stand outs are What’s Love Got to Do With It and the Bowie cover.
Middle school me would probably like this a bit more. Kinda sounds like a punk rock parody that would appear on Bob’s Burgers.
Changes was my favorite.
Great 80s album.
Love the song There She Goes. The rest of the album is ok.
Very pretty
interesting to hear Make you feel my love from the original songwriter. Good production.
What a lovely surprise, I loooooove this album. Love the jazz elements. Bowie’s vocals are raw. The instruments are all perfect. The title track, Tis a Pitty, Lazarus, Sue, and Dollar Days are all highlights (so basically the whole album is a highlight lol), but my absolute favorite is the closing track I Can’t Give Everything Away.
Probably the best post punk album we’ve heard from the list yet. Very interesting musically, I think the vocals are great. It’s jarring quite a lot though. Love the moments where the piano is just atonal af.
It’s ok. Cool sounds. Voice and certain sounds get boring and annoying at times though. 2.5/5
It’s fine… another rock album. Did nearly every song need a call and response vocals though? That was annoying as hell.
It’s good, but the track Jungleland wow a masterpiece. Everything else is ok.
Ok this is really good and funny. Makes me wish I could jam with piano like that.
I’m giving this a 1 cause I’m tired of this list giving us this type of music over and over and over again and I’m in a bad mood today and I’d rather listen to the next album on the list which is Joan Armatrading which I haven’t heard but I already know it’s better than this sorry not sorry.
I really liked this album! Great voice and good instrumentals, liked certain parts of strings. A bit samey though but that’s ok.
Loved it!
Very noisy. Some of the noise am actually sounded nice though.
Had me dancing a bit on my own in my room.
Really good funk soul record
Not the easiest Björk listening experience, I’m more partial to her more accessible stuff from Post. But it’s beautiful nonetheless. Oceania and triumph of a heart are my favorite. 3.5/5
Not my cup of tea, but my favorite track was What Happened To You?
Cool sounds, not really engaged with the album though.
Yeehaw 🤠
Good music
Ugh I love this. Little Simz is so talented. And I love the production too, Inflo is so talented (loved his production on Adele’s 30 too).
A crooner. Good music for a Saturday morning.
I thought it was beautiful.
Way too many WOAAAZVXBZHHHHS!!!! for my liking.
First part was just like all the other rock albums. But a few songs in the middle were pretty good, I really liked them. Then the last part of the album was again, just like all the other rock albums.
It was fine I guess. Guitar was nice. Boring album overall
Pretty good
A lot of good songs, but I can only like it so much with a boring voice like Beck’s. 2.5/5
Good swing music. Final track was my favorite.
Great usage of sampling. So pretty.
I liked the string arrangements.
It’s whatever
It’s ok. More of a background music album than something I’d actively listen to. The opening track is pretty interesting but everything after is pretty standard for it’s genre I think.
Very interesting. I like some of Trent’s film score work like Gone Girl and Soul but I didn’t know if I was gonna like NIN. I knew Hurt and Closer. This album is more captivating than the average dad rock album we get recommended every now and then.
Hmmm some songs are pretty interesting but others are not. 2.5/5
Electric Feel brings me back to 2010 when I first heard the song. The rest of the album is new to me. Pretty good.
