The Age Of The Understatement
The Last Shadow PuppetsA down the middle offering. Neither liked or disliked it.
A down the middle offering. Neither liked or disliked it.
Perfect indie rock. Like a roadtrip of punchy, catchy songs. Love it.
A classic from the end of the 90s. Sombre and melancholy at times. This is one for a cold winter's night, wrapped up in front of the fire. Such a brilliant album that I listened to a lot, back in 1999.
Not a band that was on my radar at the time. Always liked their album art though. Well worth a listen to.
Showing its age sadly. Was half decent when it was released.
Not my cup of tea.
A collection of belter classics and a few album fillers imho.
Preferred the love below tracks.
Country and cringe rap fusion. Not my cup of tea.
Didn't realise how bluesy BS were at the start. You can see how they fit into the heavy rock family foundations.
Exactly what you'd expect from heavy rock royalty. Grinding guitars...mental drumming...and Lemmy making your ears bleed.
Packed with disco hits and classics, if you love disco and MJ, you'll love this album.
The first couple of tracks are really dated and could be mistaken for a 70s film boogie style soundtrack. From asylum onwards, there are some great songs that I'd listen to again.
A mixed bag of great tracks and album fillers. Sticks to the RHCP formula to keep the fans happy.
A couple of classics mixed in with some dated fillers.
Dated, Ibiza chill out style, elevator music. A 'no' from me.
Talking Heads/Echo and the Bunnymen style, electro pop. I really liked a few tracks...and had to skip a few as they were too repetitive and purposely out of key. A mixed bag.
A collection of bizarre instrumental tracks, reminiscent of a relaxation CD you'd buy at a garden centre. A no from me.
Crisp Failth no More/Placebo esque rock.
A great album. Refreshing folk/acoustic style with great lyrics and vocals...obvs with the odd Billy Bragg style you'd expect.
This genre is not something I really listen to. Mr Wendell is the stand out track and it's pretty easy listening.
Such an unusual album. An album that slides across lots of sounds and samples. The Clash's, 'Straight to hell' is used brilliantly in 'Paper Planes' and there's notes of the Pixies and New Order in this album too.
A mellow and good quality easy listening album. Crazy that it's 50 years old, as the production quality belies its age.
Some well crafted songs, but I can't fully connect with LC as it feels like he's holding back as he sings/talk sings.
Exactly what you'd expect. Rock and roll with a psychedelic twist. Worth a listen.
Starts off with the brilliant 'Seven nation army' and maintains the momentum for a lot of the album. Gets a bit samey to the end, but is well worth listening to.
An on brand Springsteen offering. Solid and steady as always.
A band that is new to me. The sound is pretty fresh and current and this album is a must listen, if you like the synth/drum undie sound.
A new band for me. Really enjoyed this album. Got an Arcade Fire vibe about it.
Not listened to this album for a long time. 'It's my life' and 'Life's what you make it' are the stand out tracks.
Not a fan. Completely bored me.
Hip hop executed badly. Poor effort.
An all time classic. A true album to listen to before you die.
Alternative, jazz, folk vibe.
A chilled easy listening album. Worth a listen.
Standard, easy listening chewing gum pop from the consistent PSB.
A groundbreaking album that's still a good listen.
Hum drum rap offer. Repetitive chorus line. Pretty boring.
Punk album. And not a particularly good punk album.
A band ahead of their time. I really enjoyed this album.
A folk/soul hybrid. Singing and spoken word delivery make for an unusual album.
Like taking a trip back to the 60s.
Could not find this album on Spotify. Other tracks by her are not my cup of tea.
If you like thrash metal, you'll love this album. It's tight and rocks your pants off.
Typical 60s bluesy pop.
Always liked the way Tori plied her trade. Interesting lyrics played on a piano.
The soundtrack of a Mediterranean meal. I'm sure I'd love it on holiday in Cuba.
Early Floyd vibe...but even weirder.
A classic for Mr S. Solid and on point.
Veers from tribal dance pop, to Siouxie and the banshees-esque drum machine tracks. Liked it.
It's Tricky and Walk this Way are the stand out tracks.
An example of pop talent that's good whether you're a fan or not.
Such a great album. Bluesy with incredible vocals.
Busker...it sounds like a busker.
A melancholy version of Madonna. Couple of great tracks.
Reminded of me with Bob Dylan in singing style. Lyrically naive though. A BIG NO from me.
Mellow and soulful offering. Slightly bluesy vocals.
A typical Willie Nelson album. Melodic and straight down the middle vocals and lyrics.
Musically, I quite liked it. Vocally, boring and a bit meh!
Some genre busting tracks and incredible vocals. It gets a bit samey in parts, but the good points certainly outweigh the album fillers.
Billy Bragg doing what he does best.
2 min country ditties. Nope.
In offensive pop rock that's easy to listen to.
Bang average rap record.
Why is this even on the list? Garden centre relaxation tape fodder.
Not a particular Clapton fan, but this is good.
Nope. Just no.
Another solid Doors album.
A couple of dated tracks, but the classics hold this album up.
Quite funky. Worth a listen
Such a fantastic album and a must listen to.
Led Zeppelin, doing Led Zeppelin.
Bluesy style country music. Unusual and well worth a listen.
Like a funky, sometimes folky remix of Anthony and the Johnsons.
Great to revisit this album. Couple of stand out tracks too.
Slightly dated
Baba O'Reilly kicks off a decent album.
Contains No Woman No Cry. 👍
Dreadful. Lasted 4 songs.
As good today as it was when it was released. A classic.
What I expect the music in a nursing home to sound like.
Another dreadful album being offered to me. Not even a genre classic
Funky little number. Liked it.
Great, blast from the past.
A soul funk treat.
Another generic r&b offering. Yawn
Such a fun and interesting album. Well worth a listen.
Thumping bass lines and thrash guitar riffs, I'm guessing inspired the Pixies.
Cover versions...in German...performed in heavy rock. 😆
Not sure on this one. Syd Barrett wild spin offs...or a bit weird. 🤔
Another 1001 bang average recommendation. 🤦♂️
Iconic and mellow.
Great to listen to in full.
A less kitch offering from ABBA.
Musically variant with gruff voiced French lyrics.
Thrashy punk, with a sound that sounds almost current.
Slow, almost sombre indie. Really liked this album.
👍
👍
Willie Nelson...again...
Punk indie. Mad but ok tbf.
A great album from such an under appreciated band.
