1001 Albums Summary

Good, but a little too slow for my tastes. Wanted more uptempo stuff like the opening track.

Supernaut is God tier Sabbath. Wheels of Confusion and Changes are good, bordering on great. The rest is good, but altogether not as satisfying a listen as Masters of Reality.

I'd never really given Roxy Music a chance and knew little about them. This album, with that in mind, comes as quite a pleasant surprise. While the songs often jump off the rails and lose cohesion, they are a continual feed of ear candy and dynamic shift. The second half of this album is definitely less cohesive and satifsying, but overall, what a debut album. I'll be listening to a lot more Roxy Music, that's for sure.

This was kinda boring. Some cool sounds and ideas, and I like "Soul Auctioneer," but it just sorta droned on. I should probably listen closer.

New believer over here. Swift can craft one helluva pop song and deliver it with crystal clarity, lyrical concreteness and a good dose of fun. I have no concept of Taylor Swift as a public persona, and neither am I at all interested in that. But her songs ring with melodic flawlessness and, to quote Jake Peralta, she makes you feel things

IN THE BEGINNING, THERE WAS BEATS.

I'm warming up to 80s synth pop, but I'm still not quite there. This album didn't hurt the cause at all, tho. It's clear there's craft and ability here, but still can't quite get past the tools.

Holy crap there's way more ripping guitar in this album than I would have expected, if I expected any. This is one of the ballsiest albums I've ever heard, so much force and electricity, tempered by sweetness and fortitude. And that voice. Damn.

Hard to listen to, but not impossible, and once you open your mind to what's going on, there's plenty to get from this album. It set a bar for how we gauge outsider music in the rock era and you can hear this album in all kinds of things that want to diverge from the usual.

Great sound, but not a whole lot going on otherwise. Good album for fitting a low-key vibe but, man, I already have a ton of that in my life.

I just don't have the patience for songs about books and poems and little shops in New York like I used to.

It takes a while to become immune to Geddy Lee's voice. I'm not there yet.

One of favorite complete listens. Such a great album.

Many of these songs are rudderless and lack melodic dynamic. I mean, just sing a dang chorus. But the overall sound is wonderful, and Morrissey just keeps pouring on intriguing lyrics to where you can't help but be pulled into each song. Quite a band.

How have I never heard of this guy?

Nothing like anything else I've ever heard from the Beach Boys, and not in a bad way, either.

Wow, surprisingly fresh and lush for an older electronic recording. Lots of texture.

What a nice listen for a low key Friday afternoon. Really enjoyed hearing some Sinatra outside of his hits. Lovely record.
