The AssociatesThis pick was so 80s it hurt me a little bit… I wasn’t a huge fan but I could see my mom jamming out to this!

So groovy! Fav track was definitely Back at the Chicken Shack but all of them were winners

Great story telling in this one, although not quite my taste. Still enjoyed some easy listening though
I wasn’t sure what to expect with this one so I was surprised to say the least. Praise You is obviously a classic… not sure that I liked the rest of the album enough to give this one a 4.
My first 5 star album of this challenge! Janis is obviously a legend. My favorite songs were Piece of My Heart and Turtle Blues
Nothing super flashy hear! While I didn’t hate it, it wasn’t something I would actively seek to listen to
Here comes your man was definitely my favorite, but I had at the very least heard that tune before. Good album but some of the songs felt a little out of place
It’s a good album but I didn’t feel like it had a lot of continuity throughout… besides them just singing about nonsense… also Revolution 9 should be deemed cruel and unusual punishment
Big sad boy hours 😩 just wasn’t my cup of tea
Fun listen, the jazz transitions were a welcome surprise!
Solid 3... these dudes yelling at me just didn't really resonate. clearly influenced the genre. can hear their sound utilized in Green Day, Weezer, arctic monkeys etc...
Rock of ages!! 😎 fun listen but all the songs sound the same in my head.
hey is this the guy from toy story???
Epic tunes while still super catchy. Felt like I was listening to an orchestra play Pink Floyd. Pretty fun stuff, 5 star whynot?
I’ve got my spine 🩻I’ve got my orange crush 🍊
Nothing specific sticks out, not opposed to the album tho. Mid
First punk album that I enjoyed on this list!
I have a distinct memory of sitting in my mom’s minivan listening to the Police in the early 2000s. When listening to King if Pain, I would intentionally substitute “King of Pain” with “King of Spain 🇪🇸” and it drove my brother absolutely bonkers. I still think about that anytime I hear this song. Love it
So many cryptic lyrics. I’m sure there is a deeper message here but it was a little too much. The music did compensate enough for it…
Hey Ya! And Roses are obvious classics but there’s a ton of misses/unnecessary skits in this one
Fun listen, I can see myself putting this on for a smooth dinner party vibe!
Fun/quick little listen
Hell yeah not my favorite Stevie album but still a good one 👍🏻
classic
Meh really didn’t do much for me. The samples were strange and it felt quite disjointed at times
Dang these guys are all horned up. definitely some classics on here but there wasn't a lot that I would listen to again
Trex noises
I’ve tried listening to this one twice, it’s just not my thing.
Proud Mary proud
Was putting this album off for a while and i immediately regretted that. Very good
Finally got to tackle this one, having been readded to Spotify! Liked the southern twang in 'California'. Some of the songs ran together/lacked a distinct sound. Overall would not mind listening to this again but will probably not actively seek it out. 3/5
Interesting to listen to but not something I will necessarily seek out again!
Listened to this one all weekend! Super cool introduction to dance/electronica. Felt like Jason Bourne at some moments 😎🔫
Really enjoyed this one, Supertramp has such an iconic sound! Ended up listening to more of their discography after this one
Meh wasn’t a huge fan, felt like they were trying to be Lou reed but with less catchy tunes
Dark work with intricate rhymes, can’t help that all 90s hip hop has the same vibe
Ugh felt like I was in a Boscov’s for 45 minutes
Queen Carole
take it or leave it really. not unpleasant but I will not seek out to listen again
Just don’t really like Bob Dylan… too whiney
Interesting collection of sounds 🤔
WOOOOOO BBAAABBBY!!!
I’m an alligator
Endless funk. Fun to learn more about the certified legend that is Snoop D O doubleG.
Psychedelic rock gone 💩
Didn’t like this or the radio show
Obviously some classics on here but I just do not love 80s guitars… they’re just a little too much. Maybe I’m just a child idk
french horn on the title track is euphoric
Didn't really enjoy the listen. Most of the samples just didn't feel like they fit to me. Feel like there are better Tupac albums.
Classic! Really love Candle in the Wind, Goodbye Yellow Brick Road, and Saturday Nights Alright for Fightin 🤜
like nails on a chalkboard
Really enjoyed this one but my enjoyment was slightly clouded by having recently watched the Priscilla biopic. Elvis seemed like a kinda scummy dude who loved to gaslight. Despite that, this album is a certified banger. Enter age-old discussion of "separation of art from artist, yada, yada, yada..." Still really liked this album and would listen again. 5/5 in my book.
Not an unpleasant album by any means. I did feel like I was in a classic sleuthing movie at times. That is not a terrible vibe but its not one I seek out very often. 3.5/5
unlike anything that I have listened to thus far. enjoyed the dream pop vibe and their fantastical lyrics. Long instrumental departures were usually fun as well. I can easily see their influence on bands like M83 and Beach House. favorite track was Are You a Hypnotist?? 4/5
This actually felt really bland. Would’ve been rated even lower if it didn’t have Under the Bridge on it. Idk. The plays on nursery rhymes, the obsession with Flea, it felt cheesy.
Insane how many of these songs have survived the 30 years between release and today. Still quite relevant! Favorite tune is You Oughta Know. My girlfriend and I love to make fun of the song Hand in my Pocket. She always changes the lyrics to something more ridiculous like \"'Cause I've got one hand in my pocket And the other one is... committing tax fraud\" its so cheesy, I love her. Album is 4/5
Ehhh I wasn’t sold. While I do like Daft Punk, I am not a huge fan of House music. Da Funk is incredible but the rest of it kinda left me bored. 2.5/5
probably my favorite album from the 80s that I have listened to as part of this project. We got the beat! 3.5/5
No idea why this was included
really sad lyrics over top some really triumphant and uplifting melodies. big fan of lou reed in general.
Felt kinda like an Elvis impersonator… the lyrics were a little annoying but the supporting musicians sounded incredible.
Fun album! Couple classics on here but nothing particularly earth shattering.
I played saxophone in elementary/middle school so whenever I listen to jazz my ear naturally gravitates towards the saxes. Hard for it not to whenever you have Sonny Rollins on the record too. Really enjoyed this listen, I had heard of Thelonious Monk before but I did not know much about him.
First listen from a more recent decade lol. kinda whiney at times but I was a fan of a couple of the tunes. Favorite track was Anyone's Ghost.
loved the title track but by the end of the record, I was pretty over it lol.
beginning of the album dragged at times but man what a hell of a way to end it. House Burning Down -> Watchtower -> Voodoo Child (reprise) goes crazy
ehhhh not displeasing to the ear but nothing really stuck. the lead singers voice was somewhat annoying. 2.5/5
Some classics on here but I have heard them so many times that I got a little annoyed by the end.
Favorite songs were Ain't No Way and (You Make Me Feel Like) A Natural Woman. Really fun to listen to the latter versus Carole King's version (also on this list) 4/5
Wonderfully consistent in theme and sound. I am not sure why some of the tracks made the final cut (looking at you, Jungle). Nonetheless, ELO's masterfully triumphant strings are enough to yank you out of whatever shitty mood you might be in. Overall, this receives a Blue Smiley Face :)
meeeeeehhhhhhh.
