The very best of the 90’s. The first album I ever stole from my older sister.
Weirdest genre ever. El Paso is a bop though.
Makes me want to smoke all the funk.
So many recognizable songs but never heard of this guy.
Summer 2000, Leah’s Camry, high school anthems. 20 years later, pretty offensive, this album would not get made today…hah. Em will always be a 5/5 for me though.
Like why though?
A real toe tapper.
🧡
So much more my vibe than anything Bey does. Wish she’d put more out.
Had this on repeat when it first came out. Still excellent road trip music.
Feels very NPR, All Things Considered. Meh.
Nope, not for me.
Like them a lot but outside of a few songs this missed the mark for me. They have better.
I always felt like Michael Stipe is a really serious person who doesn’t let loose often. But he really says some shit in his songs.
Love their sound. Not my favorite album from them but still groovy AF.
Like The Smiths but not as good and way moodier.
Bennie & the Jets is about as good as it gets. Iconic album cover.
There She Goes was on so many soundtracks. Would have loved this in the 90’s but doesn’t really hold up outside of that decade.
I’ve always disliked them but I gave it a fair listen. It’s musically sound but still feels as douchey as ever. Made me drive aggressively.
Jazzy, bluesy, pop, emo…I mean she was 18, it’s impressive. Billie Eilish should thank her.
I usually love Tom Waits. This was a bit too experimental for me.
I honestly didn’t know they’d been together since the 90’s. EDM is not my vibe but they are the best of this genre.
Back to back greats on this one. Essential 90’s.
Would have probably loved during my Elliot Smith phase.
Mostly anything Robert Plant touches is incredible. Ramble On is sublime.
A refreshing change of genre. So good.
Never heard of them but the beats are decent, lyrics good.
I wasn’t ready for another Tom Waits album so soon.
I wasn’t ready for another Nick Cave album so soon either.
I could probably listen to them sing a phone book. So calm, so peaceful. Not my favorite album from them but loved America.
Perfect for a rainy day because it’s pretty sad and slow. Not my favorite from them.
I’ve never gone this far back with the Stones. It’s cute.
She’s very passionate but a lot of the songs just didn’t speak to me.
Iconic album cover. Great guitar. Some I love, some are too experimental for my taste, I can see why they could never hit mainstream.
There are about 50 better Country albums I’ve been hoping would pop up. But I’ll take it. Needed a a change in genre.
They have never been on my radar but wow I really, really liked this album. Prime indie rock. Made me a fan.
Starts off with such an epically, wonderful, 5/5 song and then just ok for an hour.
I don’t know what she decided but I would have never left Al after hearing this album. More of this please.
Nope.
Take the vocals out and I’d like it more.
I didn’t hate it.
I needed this.
Funky. Love.
Never not in the mood for Stevie. Also…velvet kaftan, braids, the beach, my dream aesthetic.
🤘🏽
Love the 80’s-ness of this. They’ve done some cringe stuff but Steven’s voice is undeniable.
Beep Me 911 transported me back to 8th grade. Missy, Aaliyah, Timbaland mastered the Rap/R&B combination. Still great.
Mr. Mojo Risin. So good.
Two metal albums back to back was tough.
In Your Eyes is one of my favorite songs of all time, it’s too bad it was tacked on at the end of a mediocre album like an afterthought. Also have a distinct memory of Josh having Sledgehammer as his ring back tone for a long time 😆.
Same Kate. Unexpected. Delightful. Maybe just needed a vibe change.
This was all over the place musically. A lot of it sounded like Grateful Dead but then there was soft rock, bluegrass, psychedelic, funk, gospel. Felt like Stephen was trying to prove something.
Cover or original, he never missed. I need Sam Cooke on this list soon though!
This is my least favorite FM album 😬. And I’m a hardcore fan. Albert that story doesn’t surprise me. Lindsey feels unhinged, the whole band feels like they’re trying so hard to be something they’re not.
Unpopular opinion - I cannot get into Beyoncé's music. The lyrics are corny and no matter what style is included - rap, hip hop, soul, r&b - its all mediocre.
Love below was better, it just was. Weird that it was a double album but you can really see how different the two are. Senior year of HS, takes me back.
Suspicious Minds, Kentucky Rain…can’t deny the voice was still there even though his personal life was in flames.
Disarm alone is a 5.
