I wasn’t looking forward to this album when I saw it pop up, but boy was I wrong! Soul (is it really,apple?) hasn’t been a genre I’ve really enjoyed much before, and I’m not sure what Kiwanuka does is really Soul but I like it. Bluesy, Jazzy, r&b, 70s groove? His music is smooth, but there is an edge and a drive in some of it than I would expect with this type of music. His voice is smooth and the music is haunting at times. This is one that sent me on a dive to find more of his music and more about him. This album and all of his albums will be in my rotation now!

They are one of the greatest bands of all time for a reason. So much talent represented in this band. Many of the songs were familiar, although this is the first time I’ve listened to the album start to finish. Seems a good representation of what I know about them. Poppy British rock that stands the test of time with catchy tunes and lyrics. It’s art for sure.

This was a mixed bag for me. On one hand it’s obvious she has a great voice, but on other hand I felt like she was trying to hard to prove it for half the album. A few solid songs which saves me from giving it 2 stars. Plus she had a hand in writing most of the songs which is impressive compared to many others in the pop genre.
