Hunky Dory
David Bowiearguably where Bowie reached his full potential. an eclectic mix that isn't incoherent, kind of like a Beatles album
arguably where Bowie reached his full potential. an eclectic mix that isn't incoherent, kind of like a Beatles album
Reminds me of the Singles soundtrack from the 90's (because they were on it). Sounds like Bleach by Nirvana, also on Sub Pop. Although this sounds heavier somehow. I feel like I've heard Touch Me I'm Sick in a commercial recently. Maybe for Skyrizi or some other drug.
lots of good grooves on this album. the beginning of funk rock. reminds me of early RHCP and Living Colour.
Violator and Songs of Faith and Devotion are when Depeche Mode reached their peak. There are a couple of good songs on this album but most of them are nothing special.
I don't understand the appeal of the Verve. This album consists of 1 overplayed 90's hit and a bunch of songs that sound like Oasis or Better than Ezra.
This may have been big in the UK but didn't translate very well here in the US other than Tainted Love. Sounds too cheesy and clubby for my taste. There are lot better British bands than this rubbish.
i couldn't find this album on Amazon or Spotify so I listened to Let Us Play instead. sounds like good background music or something to listen to with headphones, lots of stuff going on. i also didn't realize that they run the label Ninja Tune. their label has similar artists if you're into this kind of thing.
I didn't realize KD Lang started out as country. Sounds like Patsy Cline which makes sense since it was her producer. This is the kind of country I like. Not something I'd usually listen to but not terrible either. Better than her AC stuff later on.
some jazz sounds fresh and innovative but this just sounds like a lot of other jazz.
classic prog rock! Long Distance Runaround is Yes at their best.
Dark lyrics, good production. I like the blues songs on it. Haven't really dove into Neil's catalog other than Harvest and his greatest hits so it's cool to listen to something else by him.
i like piano, has some catchy tunes
How can you have any pudding if you don’t eat yer meat?
love Sigur Ros, ( ) is my favorite album by them but I can see why this one made the list.
Yeah, it's overwhelming, but what else can we do? Get jobs in offices and wake up for the morning commute?
Suburban white boy rap. The second half with Bodycount is better. Definitely not as good as Snoop, Dre, Tupac, etc. but not too terrible.
basically a continuation of Kid A, so much so that they recently released both of them together. Pyramid Song and Knives Out are excellent standouts. A logical next step from OK Computer although some wanted more rock like Pablo Honey.
Hadn't heard them before. I like the electronic vibe to it. Sounds different than other generic BritPop
Classic! some fillers on here but the good songs are bangers that make you nod your head.
not usually in my rotation but I love Ella's voice
sounds like beat poetry over bad beats. the rhymes don't really match with the music.
love this album. more straight forward rock than their other material. Can do without The Murder Mystery though. REM does a great cover of Pale Blue Eyes.
love this band. Hong Kong Garden is fire.
I like this kind of music, Good vibe. My wife enjoyed listening to it during dinner so bonus points for that.
probably my favorite Bob album. One of if not the best songwriter ever. You either like his voice or hate it.
One of my favorite albums from the 70's! Love listening to this on vinyl. Glad it made it on the list.
Being Boring is right. sounds like a poor man's New Order.
some catchy songs but most of the time I have no idea what he's saying. just sounds like a bunch of mumbling.
love that the production doesn't drown out her voice.
Love this band, usually in the rotation. This album has most of their “hits” and is a good album to start with
I tried, couldn't make it past 2 or 3 songs. sounds like awful drum and bass with R&B lyrics over it. Vocals aren't too terrible but the background is painful.
Each song is a different mood. Experimental without being too out there.
Aerosmith at their peak! Alicia Silverstone and Liv Tyler music videos are cool and all but this is their best era.
the Gorillaz are fun. I usually listen to Demon Days but this album has some great songs on it (Clint Eastwood, 19-2000). There is some filler on this one and songs that aren't that great (M1 A1 I usually skip).
a Rolling Stones classic full of drug references, what could be better?
most electronic music is annoying and pretentious to me. Orbital is one of the few that I like. I have mostly heard their songs on soundtracks but I dig all of this except for the last song.
some interesting music on here. One of those bands that I imagine would be better live, especially watching Iggy smear steaks, blood or peanut butter on himself. This album sounds like they're trying to capture the live experience instead of creating polished studio versions which I can respect.
the "fathers of grunge", not as popular as Nirvana and others. Most of it is good but got a little too much for me by the end of it.
pretty much a perfect album from start to finish. When Doves Cry is my favorite Prince song. also, Darling Nikki was responsible for the creation of the parental advisory sticker.
not as cohesive and catchy as good kid, m.a.a.d city but there's no denying Kendrick's talent and why this is critically acclaimed.
not my favorite Dinosaur Jr. album, it gets to be a little much at the end for me. Fun fact, I remember my dad hearing me listening to Freak Scene when I was in middle school and he took the CD away from me when he heard the cursing.
i somehow made it through because the arrangements were decent. That voice though, sounded like nails on a chalkboard.
the 1st two songs are 2 of the best soul songs ever. and Dr. Dre sampled the second track. knocking off 1 star because the last 2 songs are meh.
back to form with Frusciante after One Hot Minute was disappointing. This album has a little bit of everything from their usual punk/funk to pop songs.
classic album, all over the place musically but still fits together. loves songs and social/political songs also. plenty of hits on this one
arguably where Bowie reached his full potential. an eclectic mix that isn't incoherent, kind of like a Beatles album
this is the best Duran Duran album, has most of the hits on it. The Chauffeur is their most underrated song, it's a banger.
the definitive industrial music group along with Nine Inch Nails. don't usually listen to this type of music but I can appreciate it's influence and handle it in doses. the highlight is Jesus Built My Hotrod.
this album still sounds fresh today. love the blend of jazz with funk, soul and hip hop. one of my favorite jazz artists.
Bob with a full backing band, sounds more rock n' roll and bluesy than just the folk he released before.
one of those albums where I've heard some of the songs before but never knew who they were by. I like it, my kind of chill music
country is my least favorite genre of music. if I had to listen to country this would be it. although it doesn't sound timeless it's not as awful as modern country.
My favorite Radiohead album. Great as a whole and not a bad song on it
Come on, man. I had a rough night and I hate the f***in' Eagles, man! This album is meh, their last decent album although I prefer the previous ones that sounded a bit more country. Hotel California is one of the most overplayed songs ever. It's all downhill from there.
hands down Neil's best album. my favorite of his songs are on here, Old Man, Heart of Gold and The Needle and the Damage Done are all classics.
a one hit wonder that's mostly clips from Tarantino movies. it's catchy but not enough to carry a whole album.
kind of dark compared to other Summer of Love releases. some of it sounds like something Vampire Weekend would release today.
some of it's catchy and fun, some of it sounds like generic British pop
some of the best harmonizing ever. I usually go for Deja Vu when I listen to them but this album is solid as well.
True Americana that's timeless.
I miss 90's hip hop. Timbaland made several artists great including Missy. The hits and first half are good but the second half kind of tails off a bit.
some of the melodies are cool, a little noisy in places. okay for background music I guess?
love the Go-Go's although they sound kind of cheesy these days. Belinda Carlisle is always fun and carries the vocals well.
One of my favorite Bob Marley albums. Several classics!
the peak of Curtis' solo career for better or worse. pure funk and blaxpoitation music.
I already listened to Want One, I don't Want Two. He has a good voice, sometimes a little over the top.
i like Blur, my ex girlfriend was obsessed with them back in the day. some of their stuff starts sounding the same after a while.
Sounds ahead of its time, good tunes. And Dave Grohl played with them!
their last album together. one went on to have a successful solo career, the other did not.
This is The Beach Boys at their best.
The first half kind of sounds like a watered down Public Enemy, not really a bad thing. Like the message.
The kind of electronic music I usually listen to. Never listened to one of their albums before, I used to listen to their anthology
my favorite Led Zeppelin album. although it's a lengthy double album a lot of their best songs are on here.
nobody compares to the rock of Axl and Slash at their peak.
British punk that has fun lyrics instead of the political ones at the time
I like Blur, Damon Albarn is a great musician. I like his later stuff more like the Gorillaz but this is some catchy stuff
when Coldplay was good before they got all electronic. their 2nd album is their best but this has great tunes athough Yellow has become a little annoying with how played it was at the time.
one of my favorite singers from middle school/high school. i've seen her twice in concert (once with Nickel Creek). this is her best album by far.
I remember my old boss at the record store I worked at loved this band. pretty good, i dig it.
Neil Young still rocks in 1990.
not the usual R&B I listen to, it's okay. not something i'd listen to regularly
classic, Pink Floyd's best album
not bad for a major label debut. arguably the weakest of their peak era. there are great songs on here but you can tell they are changing from underground band to something more commercially successful. some songs sound like a continuation of Document while others foreshadow their sound on Out of Time (ie using mandolin and other instruments that you hear prevalently on Out of Time).
has a nice flow to it. Common is a top 10 MC in my opinion.
it's okay, not the best Neil Young album. some good lyrics about a couple of his friends dying from heroin overdoses.
kinda generic, didn't sound like it aged well. I even forget what thei hit song was.
the first song became popular because of Stranger Things. The rest sounds like a dated 80's album.
arguably their best and most popular album. probably the Beatles at their peak
this kind of music makes my head hurt, ok for low level background music i suppose. I was never into the rave scene.
One of my favorite artists to listen to on vinyl. This album and their debut are the best.
never really got into Nick Cave's catalog. I like his voice and that each disc of this album is different but still good.
probably the first REM album I was exposed to thanks to MTV. They got their first 2 commercial hits. Last album on IRS before they signed to Warner Brothers.
Adele is at her best when it's just her and a piano. It's like they couldn't decide if they wanted to do that or have a lot of production behind her so they did both. the overly produced ones drown out her voice.
some good songs, sounds kind of generic. Nouvelle Vague did a great cover of Teenage Kicks though
can't go wrong with Jimi
one of the most important and best jazz albums.
love Massive Attack, their music is catchy and fun and also introduced me to Tricky
before Queen became who they really were. more prog rock and less poppy arena rock that would make them famous.
it may be no Hysteria and it may be cheesy but it has Photograph. Foolin' and Rock of Ages!
some of the songs sound good. sometimes his voice sounds like the lead singer of the National
one of the most infuential alternative bands. God Smack is awful, just like the band that named themselves after that song. Untitled is weak too, rest of the album is solid.
this makes my head hurt, what even is this?
But when I woke up this mornin' Could've sworn it was judgment day The sky was all purple There were people runnin' everywhere Tryin' to run from the destruction You know I didn't even care
American Pie was a fluke of a hit. The rest is kind of boring folk music.
ultimate dad rock. i love it, although i also listened to classic rock in high school
cheesy
