Hybrid Theory by Linkin Park

relisten. if you didn't grow up with an older sibling in the 00s you probably don't get it. i feel like every time i listen to this album it's better than i remembered

Mar 11 2024

relisten. liked it better than the first time id ever listened to it (circa 2017). the opening song is incredible but it feels like it promises an incredible album that never comes and then it just goes down from there. still a solid, coherent album with a pleasant 90s vibe. might even go back to it sometimes.

Mar 12 2024

first in entirety listen. very cool and funky. the late 80s/early 90s old school hip-hop is my favourite.

Murmur by R.E.M.
Mar 13 2024

first listen. typical REM album, pleasant to the ear but absolutely nothing stands out and leaves you wising it was heavier or there was more going on.

Mar 14 2024

relisten. the best Elton John album and one of the absolute best albums of the 70s or even of all time. not a single skip for all the 75 minutes. so beautiful, nostalgic and catchy. sounds like a good memory, old friend or a sunny day.

Lust For Life by Iggy Pop
Mar 15 2024

relisten. not many albums make me wanna get up and dance the way this one does. the title is literally spot on.

Back To Black by Amy Winehouse
Mar 18 2024

relisten. very solid album, many great songs but at the end of the day not really my cup of tea.

Graceland by Paul Simon

With The Beatles by Beatles
Apr 02 2024

Fuzzy Logic by Super Furry Animals
Apr 04 2024

first listen. i cant believe i had never heard of this band before but im obsessed!!!! this album sounds like something engineered to be exactly my taste. another proof that music peaked in the 90s.

Sister by Sonic Youth
Apr 05 2024

relisten. i just love Sonic Youth.

Surrealistic Pillow by Jefferson Airplane
Apr 09 2024

relisten. one of the greatest and probably most underrated albums of the entire 60s. so many absolute bangers. still cant believe they put she has funny cars, somebody to love, today, white rabbit and plastic fantastic lover on the same album.

You Are The Quarry by Morrissey
Apr 10 2024

first listen. ive been refusing to listen to Morrissey's solo music for like 10 years now and apparently I was right to do so. Cant believe how cringe the lyrics are. This album in general is so much worse than i expected it to be and i already expected it to be bad. It got better in the second half but after that beginning it was really hard to get into it.

first listen

The Yes Album by Yes
May 03 2024

first listen. hated it couldn't even go through the whole thing

Blur by Blur
May 06 2024

relisten. my 2nd favourite album of my favourite band of all time. i love everything Blur has done but this record and 13 (1999) changed my life and music taste forever. its the epitome of the late 90s music and everything ive ever wanted from an album. i also appreciate how balanced and diverse it is with fun tracks like On Your Own, moody tracks like Beetlebum, devastating tracks like Strange News from Another Star and the experimental tracks on which they really let their imagination flow like Essex Dogs and Death of a Party. i also think this was the first time they implemented that spooky sound (Theme from Retro, Death of a Party) that they later perfected on 13 and Damon carried over to Gorillaz (which was always my favourite part of Gorillaz early projects). long story short: amazing album that influenced even more amazing music

Getz/Gilberto by Stan Getz

All Things Must Pass by George Harrison
May 09 2024

relisten. breathtakingly beautiful, masterful, inspirational, nostalgic, haunting. full of love and at the same time full of sorrow. makes me feel a lot of things. i thought about reaching for this album lately but was afraid it would just make me feel worse. turns out it's exactly what I needed.

Iron Maiden by Iron Maiden
May 10 2024

relisten. probably unpopular opinion but its one of my favorite Iron Maiden albums and one that i return to the most often i think. Remember Tomorrow is such a great song.

Pet Sounds by The Beach Boys
May 13 2024

relisten. basically a flawless album.

Slippery When Wet by Bon Jovi
May 14 2024

first listen in entirety. im not gonna go out of my way to put on and listen to Bon Jovi but this was quite good. Not really my thing but great for the radio.

May 27 2024

relisten. this album perfectly captures the coming of age experience. it meat to me a lot when i was a teenagers saying goodbye to my childhood and it means a lot to me now that im still new to being an independent adult and miss my carefree years. the music and lyrics cover everything related to growing up and leaving home. the nostalgia, the desire to experience new things and decide for yourself, the freedom, the fear of what the future might bring, not wanting to come back but remembering when you're from, not recognizing the place you once called home anymore, the community, the loneliness. I absolutely love the way they introduced some post apocalyptic themes to it all because they fit the concept of the album perfectly. The last line of Future Reflections that also happens to be the last line of the album hold a special place in my heart. "There's a sea outside my door and one day I'll appreciate the rush of blood and the washed out beat of the shore and remember what it felt like to be alone." MGMT is a very important band to me. I think all of their other albums are as worth giving a listen as this one. Even though they are all completely different, i could never mistake them for anything else. They truly mastered their own unique sound and know exactly what to do with it without repeating themselves.

Live! by Fela Kuti
May 28 2024
Locust Abortion Technician by Butthole Surfers
May 29 2024

The ArchAndroid by Janelle Monáe
Jun 03 2024

first listen. Not my cup of tea.

Jun 04 2024

relisten. not to come out as an Oasis fan but I do love this album a lot. it truly captures the 90s britpop spirit to the fullest. its one of those records that make me nostalgic for something ive never experienced, places ive never been to and people ive never met. I still think Oasis used to make the same song over and over again but that one time it really worked.

first listen. Or not. I'm not listening to that.

25 by Adele
Jun 20 2024

first listen in entirety. But I felt like I knew all the songs already anyway. It's good, very solid and enjoyable. Not sure if I'll ever come back to it tho.

System Of A Down by System Of A Down
Jun 21 2024
