Van HalenPanama is pretty sick, played that song about hots for the teacher on guitar hero, very hard!
Panama is pretty sick, played that song about hots for the teacher on guitar hero, very hard!
Was listening to the start of the Album in the shower but I remember it being mid and fuck me did I not like that Paul McCartney song. Meat is MJ's 3 best songs back to back to back Thriller, Beat it (off?) and Billie Jean. That last one is about being a deadbeat dad and praying to god he can Millie Rock on daytime court TV. Rest of the Album is whatever. Overall what he did to those kids was bad 3/5
Back Jack do it again this Back Jack do it again this Man Shut the fuck up. (Great song) I will only raise time i will raise a drink to royalty is when all those pedos in Buckingham are taken to jail. Midnite Cruiser is definitely about soliciting men at a truck stop. Kinda zoned out to the rest of it but all sounds pretty good 4/5
Gothboy shit right here. Not bad but fuck me are all these lyrics depressing. Does feel like I'm just listening to the same kinda song over and over again. Great voice, don't makem like they used to i guess. 2/5.
Message in a bottle is a song about a woman posting on insta and getting a hundred billion men washed up in her Dm's. Good song. Rest of the album was whatever, first half was alright but after walking on the moon it falls off. WHITE BOY REGGAE 2/5
Fun album, not something I'd go outta my way to listen to. Solid background music or something you'd hear on the radio. 3/5
One of those albums you gotta listen to and not just toss on in the background. And I gotta say its a good one, Kinda sad too but also happy and some moments, this emotional roller-coaster hit me something different given I found out a friend of mine passed too. So overall this came at the right time for me. 4/5
One of those ones you'd put on if you want background music from a particular period, just goes on and on at spme points but its not bad 3/5
Honestly this shit rocks HARD, You give love a bad name, Livin'on a prayer, WANTED (wanteeeed) dead or alive, all fucking banger classics. Never listen to the whole album and honestly there wasn't a song I was like eh, all were pretty solid. Overall some great bangers on here and would happily listen to the whole album again, even if it is just for a few songs. 4/5.
Holy shit this SUCKS. This is worse than the Police by FAR at least the white boy reggae had some charm to it. This is just a fucking an English dude having a moan about everything like holy fuck. Nails on a blackboard bad, I thought am I over reacting? And listened to about half of it again before I gave up. Wish I stood firm on my gut feeling because I will not get back the 20 minutes I spent on the re-listen let alone the original listen. Refugee looking mother fuckers on the album cover are fleeing the fucking ravaged war zone that is this fucking album. I would rather listen to a FULL friendlyjordies podcast ep than this again it is that fucking bad. Truly ass, 1/5 (I miss Bon Jovi already).
I can't hear burger king crown and not think of that one guy on the flight, fun album no real notes it was a good listen but I would not go out of my way to listen to it. To make up the word count here is a summary of the Rwandan Genocide for no reason: On 6 April 1994, the deaths of the Presidents of Burundi and Rwanda in a plane crash caused by a rocket attack, ignited several weeks of intense and systematic massacres. The killings - more than one million people are estimated to have perished - shocked the international community and were clearly acts of genocide. An estimated 150,000 to 250,000 women were also raped. Members of the presidential guard started killing Tutsi civilians in a section of Kigali near the airport. Less than half an hour after the plane crash, roadblocks manned by Hutu militiamen often assisted by gendarmerie (paramilitary police) or military personnel were set up to identify Tutsis. 7 April On 7 April, Radio Television Libres Des Mille Collines (RTLM) aired a broadcast attributing the plane crash to the RPF and a contingent of UN soldiers, as well as incitements to eliminate the "Tutsi cockroach". Later that day the Prime Minister, Agathe Uwilingiyimana and 10 Belgian peacekeepers assigned to protect her were brutally murdered by Rwandan government soldiers in an attack on her home. Other moderate Hutu leaders were similarly assassinated. After the massacre of its troops, Belgium withdrew the rest of its force. 21 April On 21 April, after other countries asked to withdraw troops, the UNAMIR force reduced from an initial 2,165 to 270. If the absence of a resolute commitment to reconciliation by some of the Rwandan parties was one problem, the tragedy was compounded by the faltering response of the international community. The capacity of the United Nations to reduce human suffering in Rwanda was severely constrained by the unwillingness of Member States to respond to the changed circumstances in Rwanda by strengthening UNAMIR’s mandate and contributing additional troops. 22 June On June 22, the Security Council authorized French-led forces to mount a humanitarian mission. The mission, called Operation Turquoise, saved hundreds of civilians in South West Rwanda, but is also said to have allowed soldiers, officials and militiamen involved in the genocide to flee Rwanda through the areas under their control. In other areas, killings continued until 4 July 1994 when the RPF took military control of the entire territory of Rwanda.
BIG FAN finally some good ass soul. The voice and the ability this woman has to make yah feel is great. I enjoyed most of the songs on this album but even the ones i wasn't head over heels for i still didn't mind because Aretha was singing it. 4/5.
I was gona song by song on this album but didn't have the time. But gotta say this album really surprised me, the instrumentals are diverse and cross things like brass, strings and guitar really well and sounds almost Latin at some points. The more i listen to this album the more i liked it and will probably put this in rotation, really impressive. The vocals are fine but the lyrics come off like an early attempt at trip rock or something. 4/5
Right so really tried with this one, didn't hate it but idk the vocals were fine and instrumentals were ok but man some of the songs just felt shitty to listen to. Like it just uncomfortable like someone made like an ok song but then added some harsh vocals and instrumentals here and there. Not great, not for me. 2/5.
So this one was fun. I enjoyed it, wasn't my go to in terms of taste and kinda had this annoying bit to it idk how to describe, You know how with some of the other albums they've had this like mixing that just feels off? It has it hear but its not shit? Hard one this, didn't hate it, wouldn't go out of my way to listen to it but didn't mind having to listen to it. 3/5.
First off; Is that a motherfucking big mouth reference!? Look overall this was fine, sure there are some stinkers like the skankly song. Rest are not too bad, knew a couple songs from here and there, like the instrumentals more than the voice thats for sure but I don't hate this. Tbh when i saw Marko preping to get crucified for his love of these guys i was like damn they must truly suck ass. But Its fine so idk. Didn't really stand out to me on a deeper level either was just 80s synth rock kinda beat which i don't mind but think i have heard better from the genre. 3/5
Really liked it but not my favourite MJ album. That said this one is by no means bad and goes hard on a few songs, better BELIEVE I'm howling Man in the mirror ASKING HIM TO CHANGE HIS WAYS. Great time. 4/5.
HANGING OUT MY WINDOW WITH MY MAGNUM. Wow a lot of N words, ain't these guys latinx? Is that a mother fucking Scooby-doo reference? All that aside I wouldn't say this is my favourite rap album and kind of surprised it is here in this list. That said there is something special about Cypress Hill, sure the content of the songs ain't too deep but when you here these MF's start rapping you can tell right away that its Cypress Hill. No one out here sounding like these guys that's for damn sure. 3/5.
Man this Album is something else, the instrumentals paint this vivid picture of the blues in so many different shades. Smooth to listen and just fun, I can take any song out of this album and 100% enjoy it no matter the season or mood. Never heard of this album or really J. L. Hooker, top song of his I could find was Boom Boom which is the only one I've heard before. But man did this album fucking rock. Really enjoyed this one and honestly I can not think of any other rating to give it than 5/5 and it is well earned.
Look if I had to pick an album that covered that 50s safe music, the kind where you would go to the dance with your mom from the past or whatever happened in back to the future. Anyway just kinda mid, might have gone hard at the time but given this came out in 1960, better music was on the way in anyway so would have sounded old by then too. 2/5.
Oriental Girls. Look gotta be real I liked it but not for any deep reason, music is fun and the rap is not bad I think they have better albums. Short review on this one but I liked it. 3/5
Yeah so Radiohead, I don't mind some of their songs but i enjoy them in a vacuum and not all together in an album. It didn't help that i didn't really like any of these songs on this album either tbh. Gonna go with a 2/5 on this one, i like some of their other music but not this album.
We got Gorillaz at home. This isn't amazing gonna be honest, i like the artist, did some good stuff with Blur and Gorillaz but this feels like something he put together during a lull between The Fall and Plastic Beach. Overall just felt bored listening to this one. 2/5.
This one was I think the first album that doesn't feel like you're traditional album. Closer to a set from a comedian that was recorded, in this case none of the jokes were landing. THAT SAID I really liked this, felt like I was in a smoky bar listening to this guy sing about his week, In terms of music itself it fit the tone, little Jazzy but mostly Blues kinda vibe, it fit well. Tom does a good job pulling me in and making me feel like I am there soaking up his stories in a bar full of people, staff running drinks around and listening to his story about not wanting a wife because she won't let him go fishing with the fellas. 4/5
What shits me about this album is that because this is in the list it means we miss out on hundreds of other albums that are better than this generic crap. The only impact this album has produced is all the people that crashed their cars into oncoming traffic at 110km an hour because doing that is quicker than shutting off the fucking car stereo. Like dexies I can't get my time back from listening to this album, fucked up. Crazy frog has had a greater impact on peoples lives than this album. I only know "There she goes" from the hit movie parent trap (1998) and that's it. Fuck the guy that thought this warranted a place on this list, only saving grace is that this was not a Friday album so I don't have to worry about listening to this over the weekend. 1/5
Bro blaxploitation music goes crazy hard god DAMN. Let a man HUSTLE on these hard streets, fuckin Nixon behind all this. "But Curtis Mayfield I sell drugs to the community!" OK all that aside I loved this fucking album, every song on this album was amazing, whatever you got going on this album will cure it. Funky as hell and full of colour. Curtis Mayfield is the a GOAT and this album is easily is best work to use as an example of him. 5/5
Dad rock Central. Really like the Album, somehow not my favourite Deep Purple Album. Gotta say though loved alot of the songs, blasting most of these while driving around feels like the way it was meant to be listened to. Smoking on the water always not be funny and a classic, dishonourable mention to space truckin that one sucked ass. 4/5
A refreshing palette cleanser after alot of blues and dad rock. But refreshing in the sense it's different, not because it's amazing or nothing. Not entirely shit but i don't think I'll be going out of my way to listen to these guys again, didn't really land with me.
Ended up listening to this one on my Odyssey Journey back to my car after leaving it in the city after big sound. Bit chilly and grey and yet some how the ramblings of the first half of this album fit nicely. Didn't understand most of what Bob was saying as jack bot put it "I guess some of the lyrics are cool if you're into that deep poetic stuff". Second half was more generic old rock which ain't really what I imagine when I think about Bob Dylan, I imagine a Gay Jewish man named Adam trying to play guitar to get pussy, but failing and having an asthma attack playing the harmonica. 4/5
Interrogator: Moscow has gone dark. We are out of options. A pre-emptive strike on Russia is prepared. The President WILL authorize. JACK! For the LAST time! WHERE is the NUMBER 5 REVIEW?! Jack: HOW MANY TIMES?! Byron was at Mt Gravatt! We had to Stop Byron! Interrogator: "We"? Jackbot? Jack: We wanted the same thing. The same. Interrogator: We're losing him again. The only thing that keeps me alive, is the thirst for vengeance. They must be stopped, Jack. Marko...Byron...Taylor...ALL SOULD HAVE GIVEN A 1 TO DEXYS MIDNIGHT RUNNERS. Dexys had the worse album and Its criminal it isn't lower on this fucking list. This album was ass but gave me the funny idea about black ops 1 so 2/5.
This one was all over the place for me, first half sounded all the same and once the second half kicked in it got better. Was some song about pedos trying to make love to someone even if they're too young or something. Anyway just more British shit but not flaming hot garbo. Instrumentals were pretty alright but the vocalist was jaring. 2/5
Short review on this one; Very pleasant background music, great stuff for cooking dinner too, taking an elevator and best of all not being fucking British (I think). Really liked it. 4/5.
Fucking loved it, Johnny Cash is all time GOAT and this is one of his most well known performances. You can hear him having funny with it and the crowd isn't over bearing in the songs, and you can tell they loving listening. Boy name Sue is a highlight and definitely the one I knew going in to the album. Love that he got his wife up there even if I wasn't sold on her performance as much, but she ain't no yoko ono. Overall this was a fun time and a GREAT palate cleanser after all the fucking british shit we've gotten over the past week. 4/5.
"My friends! My people! Welcome to the golden age of prosperity for every living Music Evil member! It was your trust that made it possible - your trust in me, El Jackbot!" "Know this, my people: I have nothing but contempt for English music - especially Britpop! When I heavily arm the police force, you will no longer fear the The Charlatans!" "Our efforts are aided by our hater comrades - to each according to their need, from each according to their ability. Equality for all, especially those who hate English music more than the others!" "Our problems are deeply rooted in the arrogance of Byron! When his takes invade our beaches, they are a 4. But when Supergrass knocks upon their door? They are a 1!" "What can you look forward to in years to come? Better Music! Led zeppelin, Jimi Hendrix, more Bob Dylan - the 1001 albums of tomorrow will be built with 5’s!" Actual review, This slaps and I fucking love Latin music. I don't have to understand the what they're saying to do the rump shaker! loved my time with this one. 4/5
OutKast! Kings of the Dirty South, really cut we didn't get any of there other albums lmao. I get that this album has hits like Miss Jackson and So fresh, So clean but the rest was just very veeeery mid. That Anne Frank line will always live in my head rent free too. Overall just sad that we didn't get thier first album or even speakerboxxx/the love below, much more experimental and interesting than this one i gotta be real. 3/5 and honestly would be lower if i didn't know OutKast is better than this. HONOURABLE SHOUT OUT TO B.O.B shit goes hard
Fucking bored the whole time listening to this. Know what isn't boring? Blood Alcohol level of 0.416. 2/5 thats it
Starting off, great album, you can really feel the great energy and mixing in this one. Always had big love for DJ's and particularly the early ones and I can see why this was on the list. Ended up going down the rabbit hole after listening to the opening for not paid enough, the opening was the same sample used for the opening to Candy Shop by 50 cent. So I can pick up that similar sampling has been used before and makes me wonder if this album influenced other albums use of sampling in anyway. 4/5 Loved my time with this one
Look its different I'll give it that, but wasn't for me. It feels like British music but using Japanese as the theme. Opening few songs were fine but the rest were pretty forgettable for me. 2/5
Gonna just open with my rating, 4/5. Not my favourite Kanye West Album but it set the bar by raping through the wire (GOATED BIT OF WORK THAT ONE). That said the thing I did want to focus on is his commentary on how hard it is to be a black man working etc. He correctly points out how fucking shit is having to work so much and still walk away with so little and how big crops/brands make all the money and have all the power. And its so interesting seeing all this commentary early on in Kanye's career, I know he expands on these thoughts too, Diamonds From Sierra Leone and New Slaves. But where did that take him? Yeezes and his other dog shit lines of clothing. People give him shit for being Anti-semetic but I hate this man for just being a fucking sell out. He was arriving at the right points like yeah consumerism is fucked and is holding back black people, then starts selling more shit to them. Clearly Hova from Cockafella records hit him with his black capitalism shit and Mr West ate that shit up. Anyway Fuck Kanye, everything after life of pablo is shit, old stuff is pretty great, including this album.
Mid time with this one, I know the song The Weight from all the 60s playlist I've listened too and always skip it. It is for sure from the era, something about the sound that strikes me as soft Rockish country bullshit, but just not good. This wasn't offensive to listen to but man it was just so boring and fuck it you know what the more I type this out the more I realise I did not enjoy it. 2/5
My question with this album, why is this on the 1001 list? What makes this special? I enjoyed my time with this album, Just what I need, and My Best Friend's Girl were good songs that stick out to me but it didn't feel like a big deal of an album. The only thing it might have influenced was the model on the cover ODing/poisoned. Didn't really feel like a profound album or anything but I could be (and I usually am) wrong. 3/5.
Wow the first song blew me away. I can hear so much influence from this album, Tame Impala, The Gorillaz, Sure there is more but man this sound is just the kinda thing you hear all 2000s onward. Every song on this album stood out to me and I can hear so much passion behind everything that comes out. I can not believe I have never heard of any of these guys before, I loved all of this. 5/5 and I feel confident in that.
https://i.kym-cdn.com/entries/icons/facebook/000/023/846/lisa.jpg This is better than Brit-pop I will say that, but man did this remind me of RadioHead in the Worse ways. The Uuuuuuuuuuhhhhhhaaahhhhhhh shit he would do in the songs just fucking killed me, you know that like humming noise thing he does when he sounds like he is mid shit with reverb mic in his face. There were some bits that were O K not great, like the instrumentals were good, big fan. Thats about it but. 2/5
Like Neil Youngs stuff, gives me hill billy lite vibes. Got some banjo's and shit but he doesn't sound hick i guess, its nice. Ironically On the beach which is definitely more rock than anything was my favourite. Overall, like Neil Young, sings a good tale on most of his songs, including most of this ablum.
First time listening to a whole Soundgarden Album, I enjoyed it, the instrumentals are great but i found alot of the songs kinda blended together. Only exception being Black Hole Sun which may or may not be why thats one of Soundgardens well know songs, because it doesn't sound like the rest of their stuff. Vocals were alright but guitar riffs were the star of the show for me. 3/5
https://youtu.be/R8vPwRfcZAM?si=vXgRi3t7yiafYJvq&t=30 This was the first thing that came to mind when i heard search and destroy. Also this guy sound DESPERATE for pussy on Penetration god damn, like a dog crying like it hasn't been fed. Also i though iggy pop and david bowie were the same person i gotta be real. Anyway, not bad. 3/5
Surprised by the opening to this album, given the only thing i know about Redcliffe's finest is all their disco shit, this was wildly different. I don't know what to even call the genre? Reminds me of the Beetles? Soft rock maybe? Either way this album is genuinely facilitating in terms of its range of sounds and switching up. The vocals were good but not really sucking me in as much as the instrumentals. Has that 60s feel to in terms of sound. Overall really interesting album and definitely something i would not have listened to without this 1001 gen. 4/5
This was painful. I already didn't wanna listen to this just on the grounds of it not really being my kinda music to start with. It's very 80s, painfully so. The instrumentals were fine? Like I said I don't really listen to this genre. But man the star of this shit show, Peter Gabriel, ASS and I like one of his songs but I think that was later work. The lyrics for some of these songs were just fucking weird, song about birds, not giving up and just him singing about waking up and looking at the sun. Just hard to give a shit about something I really didn't wanna listen to in the first place, It did feel like a waste of my time. 1/5.
In another instalment of why is this on the list? Seriously underwhelming just soft boy whining shit. Some of the instrumentals were okay, but I couldn't nail down a theme other than this guy being whiny. That's all I got, my favourite song was Bye because it was the end. 1/5
Love me a bit of metal and Iron Maiden by Iron Maiden is a great switch up from past few albums. Don't have much to say other than the guitar riffs are sick, vocals are very metal and this is the kinda album I would put on for someone that has never listen to any metal. Dishonourable mention to the Song Charlotte the Harlot, can't be calling out my family like that you DOG. 4/5
Alright this funky as hell. As much as it's gun to shit on the French, i loved the blend of North African and French sounds. I WILL NOT pay forward their version of imagine because i hate that song. I did also get some disco vibes and I'm a pretty big fan of that so bonus points. Pretty long album and some of the songs sounds pretty similar so just feels a but stretched out. This is definitely something i wouldn't have listened too without this list and glad i did. Gonna lock in a 4/5 for this one.
I had a good time with this one. It wasn't super special for me, but I enjoyed it nonetheless. These guys reminded me of Refused, or at least the opening song did. Always a sucker for some good-ass guitar riffs, so I'm pretty happy with that album overall since it had a lot of that going on. Keeping it short and sweet, 3/5.
Liked the album well enough but not the best soul/blues we've had. Aretha Franklin remains supreme and that's extra relevant here given she coved Otis' song and made it better. EVEN FUNNIER is Otis singing I can't get no satisfaction: Redding claimed that he did not know the lyrics of the song. "I use a lot of words different than the Stones' version," he noted. "That's because I made them up." Of that session, Steve Cropper said, "...if you ever listened to the record you can hardly understand the lyrics, right? I set down to a record player and copied down what I thought the lyrics were and I handed Otis a piece of paper and before we got through with the cut, he threw the paper on the floor and that was it." Fucking boss. Overall not bad. 3/5.
AUSTRALIA MENTIONED 🇦🇺 🪃 🇦🇺 🪃 🇦🇺 I think i prefer Bob when he's singing slower melancholy kinda stuff. The up beat stuff doesn't hit for me. Short review i gotta catch up, it was alright, but not great. Feeling a 2/5 on this.
