Since rap has never been a genre that I really enjoyed I was hesitant to listen this and then I surprised myself with starting to think that by Ex-factor this might be one of my new favourite albums. Sadly after Doo Wop (That Thing) i found myself being less and less captivated with the songs and really feeling the fact that almost every song on this album is 5 minutes long. Maybe I need to sit with this and give it another listen but for right now a 3 is really the highest I can give this, which hurts since so many people love this album, but it just hasn’t fully clicked for me yet.

Abattoir Blues / The Lyre of Orpheus by Nick Cave & The Bad Seeds
Oct 29 2024

One day I was driving with my dad and he told me to put on “Red Right Hand” and I just remember think “Hey this is the Peaky Blinders theme song” and from that moment wanting to listen to more from Nick Cave & The Bad Seeds but never getting around to it. Luckily this challenge forced my hand. I wasn’t entirely convinced till “Hiding All Away” but from then on I started to fall in love and I just know that I’ve listened to the full album the first two songs are going to gell with me more as well. This is a double album and Side B has to be my favourite with standouts such as Easy Money, Carry Me and O Children. Can’t wait to listen to this again, absolutely stunning.

Rumours by Fleetwood Mac
Oct 30 2024

Is it possible to say anything about this album that hasn’t been said already. It’s considered to be one of the greatest albums of all time for good reason. Favourite tracks: Dreams, Go Your Own Way, The Chain, Gold Rush Woman but like let’s be honest it’s all of them.

Red Headed Stranger by Willie Nelson
Oct 31 2024

I’ve listened to this twice now and I still feel indifferent to it. It’s the kind of album you enjoy once it’s on but not something you’d necessarily specifically pick out to put on. Nelson’s voice is amazing though and I am probably going to listen to a few more of this albums because I feel like I have potential to really love his music if only I find the right album.

Tracy Chapman by Tracy Chapman
Nov 01 2024

I’m in awe with the amount of care that Chapman puts into her songwriting as she tackles such difficult topics with grace and makes it look effortless. Favourite tracks: Fast Car, For My Lover

Foo Fighters by Foo Fighters
Nov 04 2024

My mom is obsessed with the Foo Fighters so I found it funny to realize that she hasn’t listened to this album at all and was only familiar with “This is a call”, I don’t feel like she’s really missing out though. Personally I only really liked “Big me” and “For the Cows” and while each song had parts that I liked, especially “Exhausted”, the parts of the songs that I didn’t like are overpowering, especially that guitar all throughout “Exhausted” which just kind of tortured my ears. The problem that I have with this album is that it feels too messy and could probably have benefited from some refinement and a less is more mindset, I also wouldn’t mind if they stopped hiding Grohl’s voice behind all of the instruments because at certain points he’s really hard to hear.

Heroes by David Bowie
Nov 05 2024

This was a relisten for me but I kind of forgot it existed before the generator picked it. It’s enjoyable to listen to with standouts such as “Heroes”, “Sons of the silent age” and “V-2 Schneider” but not something I’d necessarily put on again. While I like the ambience of this I think there are probably Bowie albums out there that I’d enjoy more.

Illinois by Sufjan Stevens

Eliminator by ZZ Top
Nov 08 2024

This is so annoying because this album starts out so strong with its catchy hooks and instrumentals that managed to itch the right part of my brain, and then those things remained constant throughout the entirety of the album. But not in a way that makes an album cohesive but in a way that all the songs start to sound the same as there’s only some many ways guys can sing about wanting to have sex with girls (and weirdly enough TV dinners). In other words this album starts strong and then plateaus with both the instruments and the lyrics starting to become repetitive, making 45 minutes start to feel longer then it is in actuality.
