Just way too long. You could take the singles out, or half of any of the non-single songs, and it would be easier to digest. But when it comes down to it, the chili peppers are some of the best musicians in the business and songs like Sir Psycho Sexy prove it. The moments where the instrumentals take over, or the few songs that aren’t just consistently loud, are welcome.
Pretty good, 8/10. Good singer songwriter Bruce

Good mix of songs, some good storytelling
8/10 album
It’s hard to find anything to dislike, and it’s an earlier exploration of tonalities that I like in other bands like Radiohead, but overall it was a bit too slow for my tastes. It was good to revisit it.

I bet these songs killed in a live show. The solos are great, songwriting is pretty good, but man does Neil’s voice get weird sometimes.
7/10 because again, it’s just too much
Yeah they kick ass, but I can’t stand Axl’s upper register. The hits are hits for a reason, the other songs are very much worth forgetting unless your coked out of your mind at a rock club.
Pretty damn good, and more theatrical than I expected.
Pretty solid. Gotta love the sound, even if it is a bit one-note. More classics for a good reason.

Muse’s second or third best, but probably the most focused album they’ve released.
What a great album. This is my nostalgia
Gotta love when good musicians just make goofy music. It’s a great sendup of bands like KISS or The Beach Boys.
It sounds like an evolutionary step in music. Boxy 90s hip hop beats, overly repetitive songs that are about twice as long as they need to be, and a paint-by-numbers approach to creating some sort of structure. Praise You is far and away the strongest song, largely due to having lyrics longer than four words. The beats are good, but it’s far too much for an album.
4/10
Ideas are betrayed by the execution and poor singing. Some stuff is cool, but mostly it’s atonal or inharmonious just to grate on the ears. They might be cool live, but this record does a terrible job capturing it.
6/10. I can respect that they’re doing it well, but the vibe isn’t my favorite. Another album let down by weak vocals. Psychedelic, but not weird or narratively strong enough.
Delightful, but honestly too short. I could listen to that for hours.
A classic weirdo album, pretty cohesive in terms of the sounds that Beck used while definitely getting out there at times. Fun stuff but not something I can revisit all the time.
7/10
A less artsy, more melodic Bjork? Who knew?
It starts and ends on the highest notes. I guess I can see the genius, but the melodies and instrumentation weren’t as strong and memorable as I hoped for. Moonchild in particular dragged on.
6/10
Soft rock, fusion, good musicianship and easy to listen to. Kind of lounge-esque at points.
Good songwriting, but a bit one-note towards the end and the recording quality is atrocious
Sounds like underaged drinking in all its glory. It’s just sappy pop songs with guitar dive bombs.
Starts strong but meanders through the middle.
Nice introspective love songs with some very sharp hooks. There are a few songs that are noticeably weaker than the others but no matter what, the vibes are nice and it’s a lovely album
