Janis JoplinGood album. Love the 70s aesthetic. A few standout songs, especially when Joplin vocals gets to be the focus of the song.

This album is definitely something you should listen to before you pass. Truly beautiful and unique. 90s aesthetics but still sounds completely contemporary. You can't beat Buckley's voice and performance.
A nostalgia one for sure. This album was huge and you can thank Morissette's charisma for that. I think the known songs are mostly good, a few better than others. The unknown songs don't shine though. I bet I'd feel differently if I listened to this as a teen like I was supposed to have. In a slightly different world, I'm distantly related to this woman. Which wouldn't be that different for me, but would be funny.
I think this album is more technically and musically impressive than I actually enjoy it. While I like the concept of funk, sometimes I think bands can struggle with creating enough variety or dynamics on a whole album to make it not sound essentially the same from beginning to end.
Lovely. Some of the less famous songs fade into the background, but the whole album sounds great because Bowie sounds great. [(3/5) Previously listened.]
Exemplifies 90s hip hop in how it just samples differently than nowadays and has such infectious energy. Hearing Flava Flav yell "aw yeah" earnestly as part of a song instead of reality TV meme is great. Maybe a little long and without enough dynamics, but this is a great listen. (3/6 new albums so far)
A Joni Mitchell album. No surprises. An enjoyable listen. (3/7)
Not a huge fan of country but if I'm going to listen to it, Dolly Parton from the 70s is likely not a bad choice. Favourite tracks "Traveling Man" and "Early Morning Breeze", tellingly the least country sounding. 3 known / 5 new
Not necessarily my favourite Beyonce. It's just not as memorable as some other albums--only a few real standouts. It's not bad, it's just not as great compared to some of her other albums. (4 known / 5 new)
Not my preference but not crassly or poorly made. (4 known / 6 new)
Fascinating aesthetic but I would never put this on to actually listen to it though. I am confident I've tried listening to this before and couldn't get through it. I did this time, and I don't think I ever will again. I thought I liked 70's folk psychedelic, but this being a classic of the genre makes me reconsider. Truly unique sounding though and maybe it's more foundational than enjoyable. (5 known / 6 new)
Well produced and sounds great. However, country star sings standards isn't really my preference. It is wild to think that a popular country artist could make a well produced cover album in ten days and have it stay on the charts for 10 years and go double platinum. Different ecosystem for music in the 70s and 80s I guess. (5 known . 7 new)
Fantastic. Great early 70s rock. Stewart's vocals are great. (5 known / 8 new)
I suppose this was fine. Could listen to it again but nothing stood out as fantastic. (5 known / 9 new)
Not much to say. Pretty good 90's hip hop. Had heard a lot of the album before but never sat down to listen to the whole thing through. (5 known / 10 new)
Sounded like early metal, early Black Sabbath. Generally good but neither are my favourites. (5 known / 10 new)
I mean, it's rock and roll Elvis. I don't listen to Elvis but this sounds like the Elvis I've heard that's not the ballady stuff which I like even less. He's just not my thing. A few cool musical bits, like the guitar on "Dirty, Dirty Feeling" or maybe the whole real-ass blues feel of "Reconsider Baby." So, like some of these reviews, half is musical appreciation and some of it's simply taste. (6 know/11 new)
Hey it's grunge from the 90s! Alas more Bush and less Pavement. (6 know/12 new)
I wish I could see bands like this today. (6 know/13 new)
Classic. I mean we all know "Jamming", but there's a reason we all know "Jamming". (7 know/13 new)

Lots of good music here. Not always the fan of drum solos longer than normal songs, but I guess he's Ginger Baker and he gets to do that. (8 known/14 new)
Great listen. 101FM is a favourite but the whole album is good. (9 known/14 new)
Good, but not my favourite Beatles. (10 known/14 new)
Not my kind of music but I see how this can be good. Classic country is so much better than contemporary or even Country music from the last 30 years. (10 known/15 new)
Nice classic jazz. Night Train and Jump, Jive, an Wail are the standout numbers here. (10 known/16 new)
Enjoyable but maybe a little long for the lack of variety. I enjoy the hints of British synth influence in the music. (10 known/17 new)
I know people love Pulp, but this didn't click with me. Not much to say about it really. (10 known/18 new)
Who would have thought crossing moody orchestral emo indie rock and with Bruce Springsteen would make for one great indie album. This albums is only surpassed by its follow up as their best work. (11 known/18 new)
Some classic Bowie tracks on here. The lesser known songs didn't hit quite as hard as for me so maybe it's a 4. But it's possible Queen Bitch is good enough to get this to a 5. (12 known/18 new)
Not my thing. I like some of Brian Wilson's stuff but not this early, I suppose. (12 known/19 new)
I'm not sure I like 90's brit-rock. Oh well. (12 known/20 new)
I wasn't into this genre revival or perhaps Ronson's production when it occurred so I didn't listen to this album when it came out. Later I came to appreciate the sound more but never went back to listen to this album because of Winehouse's death. The album however is amazing, due to Ronson's production and because of Winehouse's voice and charisma. Her singing is incredible and her loss a great tragedy (maybe partially Ronson's fault). So now a sad and tragic beautiful album. (12 known/21 new)
Never listened to this one all the way through but it sounds exactly as I'd expect. No my favourite 90's alternative. (12 known/22 new)
I have nothing meaningful to say about this record. (12 known/23 new)
Ah, now here's some 90's alternative that I like. (13 known/23 new)
Rush! Not my classic rock of choice. (13 known/24 new)
Lovely and beautifully made, but I suppose I was a little bored. I prefer my ambient tracks to build and release eventually, like Godspeed! You Black Emperor or Talk Talk. Oh well! (13 known/25 new)
Better than the average brit-pop band. (I see their interesting relation to this genre actually.) I really don't like that one song though. (13 known/26 new)
Lovely. (13 known/27 new)
Not my favourite but not my least favourite 90s grunge. (14 known/27 new)
A classic. (15 known/27 new)
