Listed to the first few songs. Always liked the blues. Wonder if he cut his brother in half
Couldn't get past 2 songs. this is not good
BSS is a classic. Rest of it sounds almost like Coldplay and Guess Who had a love child
Voodoo Child is the most popular, but All Along the Watchtower is my favorite. (Jeff Healy version is slightly superior). Overall great album, no complaints.
That being said, I'm going to be very stingy on giving out 5s
Solid album, U2 isn't really my jam tbh. I enjoyed listening but wouldn't go out of my way to again. 3.5 stars
Not exactly my personal taste per se, but there was some pretty clever lyrics, including the double entendre "It would shock you, the things we did on grass." Overall a very nostalgic vibe for an English group taking advantage of ALLLL the technology at hand in the 80s. Honestly enjoyed it more than I thought it would.
"The soundtrack of the universe." Rush kicks ass. Closest I've been to a 5, but still not quite there
Not bad, not great. Major east coast rap vibes, but a lot of songs started sounding the same tbh. Could have thrown any of them in the soundtrack for NBA Street or GTA Liberty City and been right at home.
More of a spite rating than anything. Probably would have earned a 3, but this is the second U2 album this week, and I wasn't thrilled about it.
Other than Take Me Out being a banger, I was a little disappointed by the rest of the album ngl. 2.8/5
Maybe not the world's greatest album, but this just hit this morning on my way to work. Plus Clint Eastwood is a classic.
Solid rock album. Appreciate that it's not super power ballad stereotypical 80s, but there weren't any songs that really stood out to me. Their "Born to be Wild" cover was weak.
This album is analogous to the 2024 Yankees. 2 absolute monsters and a lot of average at best teammates. It's tricky is a banger and Walk This Way created a new genre of music, but not quite the supporting cast for a 5.
Would like a little more in the way of beats/production besides bass and snares
Honestly only gave this a half ass listen. From what I did hear, it sounded really good. Would definitely listen again, but can unfortunately only give a 3. I feel like if I really sat down and listened it might push a 4. I really like their sound overall.
Knights of Cydonia is hard af on guitar hero. I really liked the riff on assassin.
Fun sounding music. Wish I knew what he was saying. 2.7/5
I've historically disliked Cat Stevens' music, but this didn't grate on my ears like some of his other stuff. 2.2/5
I wanted to like this, but I really did not enjoy this. Every song sounded the same, and it never picked up. The energy never got past about 3/10. Some of the songs were nice, but I was not impressed
I loved this album. The lyrics were so clever from Sadaharu Oh to the Torah and all the satire laced throughout. The production was head an shoulders above any hip hop we've had so far, but knowing what is potentially coming, still not quite a 5.
You gotta pay the troll toll if you want to get to this boys Hot Buttered Soul. You know seven children were created during the recording of this album with how suspiciously long these songs are. Long live Chef! I've listened to him a bit before... If you like this, check out "Good Love 6-9-9-6-9"
Gimme Shelter is a great song, but I felt the rest was pretty average at best. Some songs were fine, others weak, but it felt pretty disjointed imo. You can't always get what you want is not a good song.
This was comically bad. It was so hard to listen to lmao. I just... I have no words
This has potential. If they had dialed the static and guitar feedback down like 70% and unmuffled the singer, the stuff underneath wasn't bad. But as it stands, some of the songs were hard to listen to.
Also, I'm pretty sure Mimi won an album by this band ~30 years ago in a church raffle and had no idea it wasn't religious music.
This is an album Beavis and Butt-Head would love. A lot of the songs sounded fairly similar but I quite enjoyed it. I'm happy we finally got some more hard rock. Was good music to listen to in the gym.
3.8/5
It didn't grate on my ears, but it just wasn't very good. Not a whole lot to say otherwise.
Good album. Was a little underwhelmed by the first couple, but I thought it finished really strong.
3.6/5
This was disappointing. I was excited for some Ray Charles but it was a lot of covers without much behind them in my opinion.
This was pretty rough. I couldn't bear myself to listen to it all.
This wasn't awful, but some of the songs got a little too Bri-ish for me. Definitely not the worst music I've heard, but I didn't love it.
2.7/5
SANDLOT! This was a most pleasant surprise this morning. I actually kinda dig the whole "no words" thing. There was only 1 or 2 songs I felt would actually be better with them.
I gave this three songs to make me interested, and it failed. It felt like I was in a grimy underground European swingers club where everybody is wearing masks. I think that's the vibe they were going for? Not the worst music I've ever heard, but I was not a fan
I'm really starting to question the credibility of whoever wrote this book. We've had a lot of stinkers the last few days. This isn't the worst I've heard, but it's not good.
1.7/5
Wtf. This sucked. Another major dud
Interesting sound, but the guy can't sing for crap.
2.7/5
I hadn't heard of this band before but I really enjoyed this!
Not bad but not great. Sounded like a mix of the Smith's and REM.
I really like this album. Didn't even listen today because I know most of the songs. Probably the closest we've come to me giving out a 5, but I'm holding out for artists I like better than David Bowie. I do really like Prettiest Star on this album though.
Another British punky alt rock group... Pretty sure there's more than this one genre. Not bad but nothing special
This is a fantastic album. CSNY is so iconic for the harmonization, but these guys could really play and shred in some of the harder stuff.
I enjoyed this album, but I probably wouldn't go out of my way to listen to it. It was a nice change of pace from what we've been getting.
Good album that I enjoyed a lot. However, it did not need to be a double album. It felt like there was enough filler songs that this could have either been 2 good albums, or one amazing regular length album.
3.4/5
Kind of weird and super emo. The songs all sounded pretty much the same
This ruled. I love the rockabilly folk genre and I've been waiting for something before 1968. He has a great voice and I love the simplicity of the arrangements.
4.3/5
This is the best rap album we've had so far... By far... I appreciate the social message throughout the album, but it's not super "in your face" or vulgar (a la nwa) but the production is super good and the back and forth style of rapping actually works
Another unimpressive Brit-punk band. Hooray
I did not like this at all. It was all just about her feeling horny and talking about genitals over some uninspiring music.
This was a fun listen. Didn't pay super close attention but it was solid
It was solid workout music. They just start to sound repetitive
Didn't listen completely, but solid songs
This was interesting. Didn't set the world on fire but didn't make blood come out of my ears. Some pretty talented musicians
Solid listen. Heard influence from Beatles and Aerosmith. Just didn't have time to be super thorough
