Purple Rain set the bar too high for me.
Normally with old albums i try to put myself in the mindset of the time of its release to try to contextualize it, and often that makes the listen more interesting. That didn't work for me with this. It's toothless. I'm sure it's a historically important album but i can't see myself ever listening to this again.
I've unwillingly heard about half the songs on this album. I'm not going to purposely listen to the rest of it. I know what's going to happen: a great bass player, some other decent musicians and a horrifically annoying singer are going to make the dumbest decisions imaginable and somehow conclude that this should be recorded and released to the public
More listenable than the Ramones, less interesting than early XTC. Bonus points for leaning into the accent hard
This might be the most Beatles sounding album of any non-Beatles album I've heard
Fuck no, I'm not giving this dipshit my time or the fraction of the penny he'd get in streaming revenue. I've heard that stupid song thousands of times, not gonna see if there are any surprises on the rest of the album. Go shoot guns at woke beer you freak
With a gun to my head I'm forced to choose between Radiohead and Oasis. I beg to pull the trigger.
Can't do it, can't get through this album.
I don't remember the last time a song hit me as hard as Four Women just did. Holy shit.
Knopfler is a wizard
Buddy had an amazing voice but I'm not enjoying how he used it, and don't find the music interesting. I believe I'll be exiled from Montreal for giving this less than 5 stars

What. I can't believe this is on the list.
Better than Radiohead. I hate Radiohead.
I had hoped his old stuff would be more funk than gospel.
Keep looking for that audience, Davey
I'm just happy to be able to put a name to these songs
