Songs just seem to have a guitar riff that repeats infinitely while a few words are spoken over it. Honestly, I was ready for it to be over by song 4, but it did get a bit better towards the second half. I guess I'd classify it as art-punk. I just can't tell if I don't like it, or if I just don't like all of it at once.
7 songs in 42-ish minutes... including a 10 minute song and two more over 7 minutes each.
Probably more like 3.5 stars. I doubt I'll listen to the whole album again, but I wouldn't be opposed to it. Overall vibe is great.
Definitely good songs on here, but many just went on way longer than necessary. It loses at least 1 star just for "The Murder Mystery... beatnick-style nonsense read over noise. That's nine minutes of my life I'll never get back. 😄
Amazing, iconic voice. I just didn't have time to get through the whole album... It's over 3 hours long. But, I could easily see just throwing it on for some atmosphere when doing stuff around the house. It deserves more than that, though.
Solid album. "Maybe Your Baby" went on too long, but other than that, no complaints.
Not bad. "The Weight" is obviously a classic, but I don't have a huge desire to listen to the entire album again.
Interesting. Two songs I'm very familiar with and a bunch of songs that sound familiar. But, I think it's because they just sound like Beck. Another good background album... except when "Where It's At" comes on.
"Blister in the Sun" is the only one I recognized, and now I know why. Some of the songs were interesting or funny, but I wouldn't exactly can them good.
Another one of those albums where I could appreciate the concept, and even the execution, but i was just bored.
Hidden gems mixed among a slew of hits. I would definitely revisit this one.
I like the album's cover art, but the music isn't for me.
Bang a gong, then move along. Nothing else really stuck out... not terrible, though.
Quirky, but in a really cool way.
I mean, of course I'm gonna like this one. Although, I think it's the first time I've actually listened to it in one sitting.
Pretty chill, but maybe too chill. I got bored. Not bad... just not for me.
First time I've listened to the full album. I never realized there's a whole other song that leads directly into Head Over Heels. It's really the three hits that kept me into this one, but the rest is solid, too.
Really well done... I'd just have to be feeling some kind of way to listen to the whole thing again. I think it's probably a 3.5 for me, but it's good enough to round up.
Not terrible. I don't have any desire to listen to it again, but if I were making a movie, I could see using a couple of songs on my soundtrack. "Squares" just has that kind of vibe.
Great album! I can't say I love every song on it individually, but I do love the entire album.
It's not bad. I just never really got Bowie, and I still don't. But, I can definitely see how it would've been cool when it first came out in '72. It's just ok.
Better than I expected. I mean, you can't deny What's Love Got to Do with It and Better Be Good to Me... but there were some other good songs, too. I dug her cover of I Can't Stand the Rain. Probably a 3.5, but I'm rounding down because I know I'll never listen to most of these again.
Production quality was great... everything sounded nice. But, musically it's not for me. I can appreciate it, especially the percussion, but it was just different versions of the same thing for an hour.
Started off pretty strong. About halfway through, the lyrics got kinda cheesy... like if there was a stereotypical 60s hippy band in a sitcom kind of cheesy. But, I didn't hate his vocals... or the music. There's some songs in here that is revisit, but I'm not sure about the entire album. I think it's another 3.5 rounded down.
First time listening to the entire album, and it's damn good. It's higher than a 4, but not quite a 5.
It's filled with songs my grandma would walk around the house singing. For that nostalgia alone, it gets 3 stars. The fact that there all classics gets it a 4th... but the fact that I'll never listen to the entire album again loses it.
I was gonna say it sounds like Gorillaz, only boring. Then, I read it's actually a supergroup fronted by David Albarn of Blur... and Gorillaz. He describes it as a project... not a band. And, that kinda makes everything on the album make more sense. But, it's still not great. "Nature Springs" and "Three Changes" were the only real standouts.
Nah. I know it has it's place, but the only way I could ever see myself listening to it again is if someone slipped me some acid.
Not my favorite Cure album. Probably won't give it another full listen, but not bad.
Pretty good. I'm not dying to hear it from start to finish again, but I could give it another listen.
Copy/ paste notes from previous Kinks album.
I guess this is when she started down the electronic path of music. Not great.
WTF was that? It's only music in the sense that random noises played simultaneously can technically be considered music. But no... absolutely not. 0 stars
Great album. Respect probably gets the most attention, but the title track is outstanding... and then A Change is Gonna Come wraps it all up beautifully. Not a bad song in the bunch.
First song is an undeniable classic. The rest of the album just didn't grab me the same way. Not bad... just nothing else that really stood out.
Not for me. I guess it's technically fine... I was just bored.
Two really good songs and the other 7 are mid at best. I don't need to hear the whole thing again.
This album has it all... in both style and quality. There's punk influence.. reggae... blues... rock, etc. There's classics... hidden gems... and time wasters. Overall, I know I'm coming back to the full album at some point, but I may skip a track here and there.
I didn't think I was going to like this at all, but it's not bad. In fact, it's good for what it is... it's just that what it is isn't my favorite. But, there's definitely good songs on here that I'll revisit... just not the whole album.
Not bad. I won't lie, I sped through most of the songs because I thought it was 2 full disc's of songs... but the second was just demo versions of the first. Anyway... what i heard was pretty good. Again, it's not something I'm going to go back and listen to all the way through, but I also wouldn't rush to skip any of the songs if they popped up on a playlist.
Just a really good album. It's probably a 4.5 because of the 9 minute sing that could've easily been 4 minutes shorter... but I'm still gonna round up. I'd buy this on vinyl.
Musically, it's good... I'm just not interested. Tinseltown in the Rain is with another listen, but nothing else really stood out. I'm gonna ring up my 2.5.
I'm not the biggest Metallica fan in the world, but I've always appreciated them. And this album is just full of bangers. I'd probably give it a 4.5, but it's gotta be rounded up.
The songs are solid, and I dig Rod Stewart. But nothing really jumped out at me until the the last song... the bass tone and funky line was cool. But overall, I don't really see choosing to revisit the entire album. But, if somebody else put it on, I wouldn't have a problem with it. 3.5... rounded down.
There's only 7 tracks that total 36 minutes... but the first 3 are over 20 of those minutes. There's no need for Good Times to be 8 minutes long... and that's the best track on the album.
