i mean, i liked TPAB, i like the lyrical complexity and meaning, but i just cant like the beats. Bitch Don’t Kill My Vibe and Backseat Freestyling had good beats, but it just doesn’t make up for the lack of in the other places
Very nice towards the end. Not really a fan of the beginning. Personally, im into harder music.
"oh wow!
i expected this one to just be filler so there would be 1001, but this one has groove to it. Very mellow, down-to-earth rock. Pretty unique. I like it."
Love “Tiny Dancer”. Loved the piano. Elton John is a classic.
no killer on it that’s worth a five
good synth work, but there just really isn't anything absolutely great on it.
Very, very strange and dark.
used to love this one when i was younger.
oooh thats where it came from
Nothing inherently wrong with it. Doesn't really go hard. Pretty boring, honestly. It is good. I dont like it.
love the sound of an old compressed fender
takes a second to warm up but once its going its going. starts strong then doesnt return until Thriller. Eddie Van Halen on beat it so instant boost.
what a visceral experience. it was honestly a relief that the first song was over. the production was great. 38 minutes feels too short for an album like this. love a good rock opera
songs are entirely too long
...ehh?
I prefer my led to have a polished sound, thanks
Objectively good. I liked it. 3 for good. 0.5 for the first song. 0.5 for the last song (Gravity Falls). -1 for creative differences.
electronica… punk? that can happen?
dont get me wrong, but this album isn’t that great, compared to Pyromania. every song, there’s a different section that goes a little too long that’s just synthesizers going crazy. I love Pyromania, but i just can’t sit still long enough for this one.
"As a person who likes protest music, this is ok. If you're into sample-heavy stuff, you'll like this. The best songs on this one have chuck and flav rapping together (Fight The Power, for instance). Personal fan of Fight The Power. 6/10
Probably in my collection"
its a lot slower, but i still really liked it. very good songs.
very different from what i listen to. i like it.
Dark and strange. Launched the compact disc though
each musician is great in their own right. especially Copeland. i really likes the instrumental part of the album, like Walking on the Moon.
it goes on a little too long, though.
listened to at school. my discman died during song 12 :(
i liked this one. nice acoustic folk. little jazzy
Objectively good. Slightly boring. I want to strangle the bassist for "Sweet Emotion". I liked it.
"1984 wasn’t their best, but its the first Van Halen my dad ever heard. He got that album in 1984 when he was 9 years old. Today, I can still listen to that same record.
uhh since i’ve listened to the rest of their discography, here’s a review of the rest:
Van Halen II: ..eh? everyone says that this one is better than I, but i really just dont see it.
Women And Children First: definitely my favorite. love the acoustic work on it.
Fair Warning: probably the most consistent one. very bass heavy, which i love, but also Michael Anthony tuned to C# for it, so strangle.
Diver Down: WHY are there SO MANY COVERS
5150: good intro album for Sammy Hagar
OU812: most consistent Hagar album. a little too down low to be honest
For Unlawful Carnal Knowledge: i also dont get the hype for this one to be honest. it should be on the list because it was the only VH album to win an award and got them on live television (VMAs).
Balance: This one took a while and was very influenced by Kurt Cobain’s suicide. the band was kind of at the end of their musical ability and you can definitely hear it.
Van Halen III: nope nope nope nope nope nope
A Different Kind Of Truth: Loved to hear Wolfie on this one. they really turned the gain up to 11"
"It’s late at night. your parents think that you’re sleeping. you’ve listened to this one before, but can’t really remember all of it, so you decide to listen again. and every song, there is a different “holy shit this is so good” moment.
lyrics that revel against the Iraq war, media polarization, and the bush administration.
The band really matured with this one, too. They haven’t really gone back to their old sound.
11/10 the best album of the millennium"
Very consistently Queen. Absolutely nothing wrong with this album (except for prophet song). I’m not a fan of Prophet Song. Ultimately, Bohemian Rhapsody.
really the start of punk. i can hear where Green Day even took some of the sound.
very good punk album. strangle tim commerford. praise everybody else. music is a four, lyrics are a 5.
You should rather listen to The Battle of Los Angeles, though. its more consistent and doesn’t have (what im coining) “dead spaces” where its just Tim and no one else, not even Brad.
Evil Empire was their worst of the four, but was still fucking amazing.
in Renegades, they somehow made every fucking song sound like their own writing. 10/10 band. 10/10 lyrics. fuck paul ryan
I think if you hear one you hear them all. classic sample-heavy public enemy.
I very heavily dislike this album. I very much want to like what im listening to, but i disliked almost every song. was literally tortured by it
"It’s 1978. The best guitar playing you’ve ever really heard is Jimmy Paige. You hear about this album and this awesome guitar playing.
As you drop the needle (as was standard for the time), Eddie blasts off."
pretty good. the instrumentals were alright at worst. lets strangle the bassist for tuning so fucking low.
the beats are fresh but overall it really doesn’t deliver like other songs for me. and it sounds really bad when you have an acoustic guitar and synthesized drums in this era. auto tune and that’s it.
ah yes, the “FUCK YEAAHHHH” to “life is pain” pipeline
the album sets up an expectation with “London Calling,” then it doesn’t deliver on that, instead giving songs that sound like a road trip in the rolling hills of Hertsfordshire or something i dont know im not british.
i dont get it. Song 2 and nothing else.
goes on and on. its not like The Suburbs where the songs are all the same. it has variations here in there. gives off slow dance vibes.
Seems to go on with not that much change in the songs. pretty fucking boring.
very very ok. only worth listening to cult of personality.
I’m sorry to all the jazz heads, but this all sounds the same to me. plus, Take Five is waaaaaaaaaayyyyy overplayed for me to still like it. 2/10
Funky. Slight psych rock. i liked it.
Immigrant Song and then blues. Not too boring, not too interesting. very repetitive when the songs sound the same.
each song keeps the album fresh. the Latin beat is nice
fun fact: synth rock has never had a fault
i enjoyed this album. its very good. but i did not like the banjo.
its exactly like The Suburbs. goes on. nothing notable. was bumpin in the first few songs.
Pretty good. Has my favorite Jackson song on it (“Man In The Mirror”). Would say its a four but with the bigger hits on it (“Man In The Mirror,” “Smooth Criminal”) its a 5.
"The best in men's clothing
Call Paul's Boutique, ask for Janice
The number is 718-498-1043
That's Paul's Boutique, and they're in Brooklyn"
nothing that was an absolute killer worth a 5. other than that I like tom petty
Ok so. i gave this one a try after peer pressured by my friends who have a slightly different taste than i. i did not like it. but it’s alright. im just simply not into nu metal.
Dead Kennedys have always been too hardcore for me. the riffs are too dissonant. the vocals too… whatever that is. its just scratchy noise rock to me.
French dance beat. it sounded pretty ok.
wow! very good! huge improvement from I. but then they dropped the ball with III.
