Popular Reviews

Off The Wall by Michael Jackson

great bass sound and funky grooves, the production is immaculate but i feel it sacrifices emotion in favor of accesibility i cant point out specific things about the songs that don't work or that I dont like, however they feel a bit flat and empty mjs delivery is on point gotta givem that

The Man Machine by Kraftwerk

i understand its value as an influence and almost a premonition of the sound in electronic music, techno, synth pop and other derivatives, but as also happens to me with these genres, i cant find any connection with the music itself the songs keep adding and removing layers and playing with patterns and textures; again, i understand that this is the purpose of this work, to sound mechanical and artificial, but it seems to me that these machines are too far removed from the emotionality i expect in music so much repetition ans waiting for small variations makes it tedious to finish and difficult to enjoy, and my rating will reflect that

Ill Communication by Beastie Boys

i dont really fw this, thank god it has instrumental tracks

Tea for the Tillerman by Cat Stevens
Mar 09 2026

mama used to play ts in the car, great folk tunes and some big hits, love the sound maybe a bit monotone

Fulfillingness' First Finale by Stevie Wonder
Mar 10 2026

instantly resonates with a sound i always seem to be looking for, got to dive more into stevie, such great musicianship, loved the sound pallete and the dark minimalistic vibe, every tune has its great moment, just a pleasure to listen to, two seventies records in a row; completely different vibe, both bangers tho

War by U2
Mar 11 2026

not the biggest U2 guy, great dark vibe tho, again cant say this is bad but defo not for me

Beggars Banquet by The Rolling Stones
Mar 12 2026

first album that ive already listened, gonna give it another spin but i know ts good man sympathy for the devil has to be one of the best songs ever, not just just written but performed, those jams in between verses, everyone is in flow state goddamn it might be a bit of a hanging matter mick, subtle foreshadowing as the kids say anyways a banger of an album, these four stars might be a bit higher than the stevie album

Mar 13 2026

shits so short but so powerful, what a voice, great fucking orchestration also, this musics peak, 4 a bit lower than Beggars and Stevie

Frank by Amy Winehouse
Mar 16 2026

dang the lyrics are def something, can tell she was 19 and it was the early century. on the other hand what a voice and what a woman

Brilliant Corners by Thelonious Monk
Mar 17 2026

man, theses cats are swinging, man i know people say this kind of music is a challenge for new listeners and stuff but i find it appealing at first glance, not a boring moment, enjoying all the 'wrong notes' the dissonance the weird trumpet sounds great great i dont have the musical knowledge to describe what is going on but ts slaps cliche here but it sounds like it could be made today, there was a complete silence during one track, i thought it might be a uploading error, but seeing the sonic risks they took from that point on, I'm going to want to believe it was deliberate. i am thinking about giving it five stars but it bothers me to have the near certainty that I wont return to this album except in a context like this

Rio by Duran Duran
Mar 18 2026

idk this one doesnt resonate with me at all im not giving 1 star because it is listenable but i feel complete indifference about it, good bass sound and some synths here and there if i have to say something positive

Ocean Rain by Echo And The Bunnymen
Mar 19 2026

weird and dark, there are a few stand out moments i love when they go unga unga dont think this will end on my rotation but a fun listen

Gasoline Alley by Rod Stewart
Mar 20 2026

skipped one day cause of fathers day i hope i didnt f up anything, listening to this now and then the album for today was expecting something different from what ive heard from rod stewart but so far loving the energy, the band is killing it and rod performs so freaking good front to back high energy tracks very well performed, those drums slap, loved the bluesy vibe

The ArchAndroid by Janelle Monáe
Mar 23 2026

top tier, this funky soul gender bending stuff is where it is at tunes to dance to, to get lost in the bass lines and the little ear candies, the most produced album so far but in a good way, the sound selection is so great, fantastic track after fantastic track you know when something is so good it makes you giggle? this album does it for me kinda weird i cant rate it until monday but i feel this is a 5 star

Led Zeppelin II by Led Zeppelin
Mar 24 2026

listening to rough mix or whatever that means cause youtube cant play an album without messing up the tracks it just feels redundant saying anything about these guys but this is what being locked tf in sounds like, every member is just heaven sent they give everything the song needs, i dont know how to put it to words but no egos just top tier musicians creating something as capable of changing someone's life now as it was fifty years ago i think ive said this before but imma forgive the brits for the cultural appropiation of the blues we are going to let that one slide this walks the thin line between horny and weird as good as we all wish

Purple Rain by Prince
Mar 25 2026

this is a classic that ive never dedicated the time to properly listen to; you see, i say i like movies and I havent seen citizen kane first few tracks are a bit of a weak start but from the beautiful ones it gets wild wild, it was great when the synth and his voice kinda mixed and followed eachother phrasings but from there the masterful guitar playing and vocal performances just steal the focus of attention on the next few songs i feel like the singles are the weakest part of the album they feel like watered down for mass appeal, understandable being a soundtrack for a movie, cash rules, but i think i will find the better prince outside of this project imma go against the waves here because, as a whole, the album didnt do much for me

Are You Experienced by Jimi Hendrix
Mar 26 2026

oh god i miss dropping some acid hate that you have to press save everytime you write something crisp sound, huge drums, underrated vocals and timeless guitar tone, maybe a bit homoheneous, undeniable classic record

Yoshimi Battles The Pink Robots by The Flaming Lips
Mar 27 2026

crazy synth bass wobwobobWOO i love finding stuff that feels like was waiting for me, straight into rotation yoshimi this yoshimi that the main character is the ride cymball

Madman Across The Water by Elton John
Mar 30 2026

these lyrics had me near crying the whole time, im supposed to talk about the music but the lyrics are so powerful here, lovely imagery and characters that wed perfectly with eltons voice and energy it loses weight as it progresses, but there isnt a significant qualitative difference compared to the first tracks, great listen from front to back

Rock 'N Soul by Solomon Burke
Mar 31 2026

great guitar playing on this thing loving the soulish fills but everything else feels like a collection of cliches like they were only allowed to play three jams, dont think rating this the same as elton or so is fair, could be listening to it all day but doesnt feel too inspired, im not a dirty dancing guy so i dont connect to it trough that one song

Signing Off by UB40
Apr 01 2026

yay reagge and politics everyones favorite i was like okay if the musics always gonna be bum tara bum ta lets check the lyrics, for my surprise just as monotone, two songs in they already butchered lean on me, one positive thing about this are the basslines

Heroes to Zeros by The Beta Band
Apr 02 2026

jammy, trippy, funky, great vibes very cool sound desing and glitchy grooves feels like a mix between king gizzard and pink floyd, lots of very enjoyable moments but nothing too memorable

Apr 03 2026

really overlooked guitar playing almost hypnotic rhythm, timeless vocals and delibery mf was like twenty and sounds like hes been trough his third divorce i have always been intimidated by his discog but i feel this is a perfect introduction, i have to pay more attention to the lyrics because thats his strong point but this is the kind of music that inspires you to make music, so minimalistic but so emotional, raw and silly, this is what sounded in my mind when i think of american misic

Apr 06 2026

i can imagine how it shook the world when it came out, but if youre a regular hip-hop listener, it's noticeable how it has aged the flows are somewhat repetitive, and the rhyme schemes aren't very elaborate, although it doesn't seem to emphasize these aspects as much as the message, which may seem angry and over-the-top, but was necessary and the basis of the cultural language for a large part of the following generations on the other hand the beats are still fresh af

Africa Brasil by Jorge Ben Jor
Apr 07 2026

having fun while we learn yay an album that shouldnt feel any more foreign than the rest of anglosaxon music up to now, but it still does; despite living with this language just a few kilometers away, i understand less than I understand in any other english recording these rhythms invite you to move, bringing your hands together at chest level and taking little steps. i find the pauses for explanations amusing. very good vibes, but it feels like the songs dont go anywhere. entertaining from beginning to end

Songs In The Key Of Life by Stevie Wonder
Apr 08 2026

wow, you never know whats going to happen next, from gospel ballads to smooth rnb to funk that makes you make the stank face something more than a collection of songs, it is a statement fueled by the talent of a visionary, ironically, and a great selection of colaborators def going back to this feels like it is more dense than what i can unpack now

Sheet Music by 10cc
Apr 09 2026

caught a dilla sample here hehe solid classic rock that dips the toes in the kind of psydelic kind of prog territory, knows very well when to be goofy, killer lead guitar and vocals

All Things Must Pass by George Harrison
Apr 10 2026

always great to be reminded to give this a few spins george voice comes directly from heaven, hes always been my fav fab, the guitar toan on this is as warm as a hug from your mother on the other hand there are a lot of cuts that maybe shouldnt have made it, im grateful that they exist but do we need backing tracks or first takes of songs already on the album? i get it you dont have to play the 3 discs every time but feels redundant the moog synth gives a strong character to the sound pallete, great contrast with the folky vibe, also great collaborators on the closing tracks jams and an overall massive sound imma be biased with the rating on this one

Fear Of A Black Planet by Public Enemy
Apr 13 2026

rightfully angry and powerful and it is shown on the abrassive production and the straight up lyrics this really manages to paint a stark portrait, as uncomfortable to watch as it is humorous, of the social tensions of the time, trough statements that dont really need for metaphors or embelishments to prove its point over some of the most sample stacked beats ive heard

The Score by Fugees
Apr 14 2026

god this is great, godly deliveries and flows, ad libs and everything every verse is flawless, they make a great symbiosys or however you spell that in english constant fine ass references and sort of pseudo intelectual lyrics that weds perfectly with the funny punch lines the production knows when and how to keep it simple, they let the dynamic range to the vocals the lowest points are actually the covers but still feel this is gonna get a five

Axis: Bold As Love by Jimi Hendrix
Apr 15 2026

second jimi album and he is going up in my vocalist rankings everything i can say feel really redundant, great drums that give a racing track for the supercar that is jimis guitar sound, tape reversed guitar tracks > every other sound the whole album felt like a blink of an eye

Django Django by Django Django
Apr 16 2026

love the instrumentals and the production, it nails the bled between exotic and glitchy with them synths and the percussions, but the lyrics and the vocal performances make the project fall a bit flat for me it shines more when it goes folky rather than jammy, nice discovery tho definetely some tracks that im going back to

Sound Affects by The Jam
Apr 17 2026

great energy post punk, mad bass driven tunes, not the most diverse pallete but the sound they go for is immaculate, kind of ambient kind of weird ear candies, the vocalist sometimes reminds me of damon albarn is that... is that taxman??

Sign 'O' The Times by Prince
Apr 20 2026

pretty horny but really tasteful, great grooves and excellent guitar tone works just as well when it surrenders to funk rhythms as when it stops to whisper slightly risqué ballads in your ear this man is the pinnacle of overflowing talent in every sense; im glad to be able to tackle such an intimidating discography from such a prolific artist, forcing me to dissect it on my own terms every song has its moments, and every performance elevates the tracks to give us something much greater than the sum of its parts

Off The Wall by Michael Jackson
Apr 21 2026

great bass sound and funky grooves, the production is immaculate but i feel it sacrifices emotion in favor of accesibility i cant point out specific things about the songs that don't work or that I dont like, however they feel a bit flat and empty mjs delivery is on point gotta givem that

Apr 22 2026

classic acid rock, jazz infused jams on this thing, the flute guy gives some dimension to it great tracks but nothing that stands out over the rest, kind of lost in the jamming while still being the most interesting part of the record

G. Love And Special Sauce by G. Love & Special Sauce
Apr 23 2026

wow never heard of them, except for a section of a song that played in american dad?, and i fell in love in love with this band already, what a record the kind of unusual flows and the cadences are sustained by an outstanding rhythm section, you get tasty jazz progressions over heavy funky grooves on the drums, gotta point out also the guitar parts that perfectly serve the songs you could say it doesnt try to get very far away from a certain sound but man they nail it, everything sounds cool af

Led Zeppelin III by Led Zeppelin
Apr 24 2026

while being the weakest zepp ive heard so far there is always something interesting going on, the folky vibe contrasts with the overflowing energy of their other works not saying it is bad, but it fails to provide the instant gratification my doomscroller mind is used to makes you want to pick the acoustic and strum the fuck out of it tho

Meat Is Murder by The Smiths
Apr 27 2026

i love the smiths, but i never found the time to spin this particular album. while it doesnt shy away from their greatest hits, it's a great collection of songs and a clear statement of their sound and ideology theres a lot that makes this album special, but it's the small imperfections in the mixes and even when morriseys voice cracks that make it sound so intimate and authentic

Bat Out Of Hell by Meat Loaf
Apr 28 2026

im not really into this kind of long haired, stadium rock, but I have to admit the band is locked in, the vocalist has a powerful voice and the backing vocals are used very well what i dont really fw is this maximalistic, hyper dramatic and epic musical stuff, too many things happening at once without trying to be delicate, i dont know if they manage to create a something greater than the sum of its parts another thing that prevents me from enjoying this type of music, without this album being a particular exception, is how all this musical greatness clashes with the superficial and even artificial way it treats supposedly great themes like love or youth feels like too much stage for very little substance

The Stranger by Billy Joel
Apr 29 2026

high energy story telling, great songwriting, very interesting song structures, the melodies are simple but emotional and catchy it is a great melodic pop record, even though the music doesnt really resonate with me completely; rhyming two words in the same sentence gets old really fast, the pseudo anecdotic perspective of the lyrics is the best part of it, makes it feel authentic

Dummy by Portishead
Apr 30 2026

easiest five strars of the list so far, one of my fav albums of all time i feel like all i can say about this is an understatement, it is an exploration of a unique sound that manages to stand out from its contemporaries; dark, emotional, and genuinely mind blowing eternally grateful for these almost spiritual exporiences and for the change of perspective they represent, this list is partly a consequence of that

Achtung Baby by U2
May 01 2026

not a big u2 guy as i think i stated but def fw this sound more than their previous work they do what they should have done and abandon not only their sonic direction, but also their kind of high horse attitude for a more honest and intimate one that plays on their favor imo i used to think that the edges sound was weird effects and a ton of reverb but he delivers some pretty neat guitar parts over a dirty tone on this thing, the production and sound desing also stand out with clear influences from their electronic and alternative contemporaries

The Chronic by Dr. Dre
May 04 2026

i feel like theyre making me part in something that has nothing to do with me, cant we guys just be fwiendz great production on this, the whistle synth and the funky grooves give the character of this sound; angry and busyt, the consistent features make the whole thing really cohesive, most of the best snoop verses are here and the other collaborators also bring the heat they manage to vividly paint scenes not only about the social context of the time but also about their personal situations and problems with people in their environment that, well, dont seem particularly safe

White Blood Cells by The White Stripes
May 05 2026

the songwriting on this is top tier, what a bunch of really powerful tracks, everything pretty straight forward but so cohesive at the same time keeps a high energy constant pace with the help of potent riffs and primitive rhythms choosing to sacrifice complexity in favor of immediate impact and, boy, it does work the rawness and imperfections that give it that lofi vibe are not only what separates it from its contemporaries but also what gives it that timeless character maybe being too generous with my 5s but who really cares

New Wave by The Auteurs
May 06 2026

great vibe but overall pretty inconsistent, could be boping to one tune and wanting to focus on other stuff to the next the band can really hold the beatlesque early 90s alternative sound but the project itself falls a little flat this non decimal, five stars rating system is not going to like it but this is what a 5/10 sounds like for me

Close To You by Carpenters
May 07 2026

really solid project, very emotional tunes supported by amazing arrangements and vocal performances the melodies flow so well, nobody is trying to do too much, the percussions keep simple and steady grooves and the brass and strings give some dimension when needed, but the sum of the parts achieves a truly accomplished sound

I Against I by Bad Brains
May 08 2026

high intensity post punk, great collection of songs, cant really say there are too many weak points on this but at the same time it is lacking that punch and edge that i expect from punk records the vocalist has a good range but i dont think that plays in favor of this record, killer guitar solos tho

Cloud Nine by The Temptations
May 11 2026

are we going to pretend this isnt about drugs? great vibe, some tracks are legit bops but i cant say something that really stands out here not really soul not really funk, i can see the influence this had at the time but for a modern day listener falls a bit flat 2.5

Darkness on the Edge of Town by Bruce Springsteen
May 12 2026

i owe you an apology i wasnt familiar with your game great storytelling, really painting pictures with the lyrics about characters on the edge in dark landscapes (getitgetit?), ig i connect with your shi if it is about working every day, very emotional vocal performances also the band walks the line between blues and introspective ballads pretty damn good, the minimalistic production plays in their favor, every element provides the energy the tracks need

Green River by Creedence Clearwater Revival
May 13 2026

paradigmatic american music, very direct and clear blues sound without too much artifice or pretension the vocal performance doesnt quite excite me and the sense of urgency created by such short and concise tracks is both their greatest strength and their biggest limitation

1999 by Prince
May 14 2026

idk how to put this to words but i respect prince more than i love him, third album on this list with under 50 generated and i want to like him more than i do like him he is ridiculously virtuosic, capable of expressing himself in a highly articulate manner across all genres, this is what gives this project its identity and, at the same time, in my opinion, what makes it emotionally distant

Channel Orange by Frank Ocean
May 15 2026

this album reminds me of a time when the world was still optimistic and i was still looking forward to summer the songs flow very well together, im not usually a fan of interludes or skits, but here they feel like the images you get when you remember happy but fleeting times the production is so warm but actually daring; in contrast to the pop of the early 2010s, it breaks many of the formulaic structures that made its contemporaries sound outdated and overproduced frank dips his toes in a wide variety of genres but from a careful and minimalist perspective, managing to sound sophisticated without being overwhelming; the intimate lyrics, about small details and memories, give it that vulnerable and human character that makes it stand out

Doolittle by Pixies
May 18 2026

primal, raw, weird, but at the same time approachable and catchy, really my gateway drug the tracks play very well with that weird dynamic tension, establishing a contained sound that eventually explodes, mixing primal emotions with moments of really technical musicianship the lyrics have a surreal, nervous, and impulsive tone and are capable of creating images that evoke animalistic and bodily emotions in a unique way, all this beneath simple, catchy, and truly accessible melodies

The Man Machine by Kraftwerk
May 19 2026

i understand its value as an influence and almost a premonition of the sound in electronic music, techno, synth pop and other derivatives, but as also happens to me with these genres, i cant find any connection with the music itself the songs keep adding and removing layers and playing with patterns and textures; again, i understand that this is the purpose of this work, to sound mechanical and artificial, but it seems to me that these machines are too far removed from the emotionality i expect in music so much repetition ans waiting for small variations makes it tedious to finish and difficult to enjoy, and my rating will reflect that

The Who Sell Out by The Who
May 20 2026

this album rides the wave of psychedelia and studio experimentation of the mid 60s; the concept of a London pirate radio station opened the door to the thematic possibility of creating a work around the same idea that the band would explore later sonically, one can also feel the response to the paradigm shift brought about by psychedelic music, especially by the beatles. the band abandons powerful riffs in favor of creating an atmosphere with less traditional structures and unusual effects in my opinion, the concept hasnt aged well, and i feel that the jingles and ads interrupt the pace and atmosphere that the songs achieve

The Coral by The Coral
May 21 2026

weird, ecclectic and daring sound, loving the dynamic and genre range of the band the album combines psychedelia, garage, and shifting structures to build a strange and dreamlike atmosphere, although its more floating and less confrontational approach may prove less immediate than other works of a similar spirit.

Joan Armatrading by Joan Armatrading
May 25 2026

really powerful and unique vocals really wide range and a perfect balance between funky soul and gospel folk the minimalistic production really lifts the which, despite being its strong point, does not overshadow the instrumental parts and manages to create a continuously interesting and enjoyable work

May 26 2026

The songs follow some of the clichés of commercial music of its time, but each one has a special vibe, an interesting storytelling about life in America of a distant past, even for this work. The western-type sound is what characterizes this album, enjoyable from beginning to end.

Ill Communication by Beastie Boys
May 27 2026

i dont really fw this, thank god it has instrumental tracks

Cheap Thrills by Big Brother & The Holding Company
Jun 02 2026

Blues in one of its highest forms, raw, vulnerable, and full of tension. The vocal performances steal the spotlight, with good reason, but they don't overshadow the rest of the band; hard hitting percussion and nasty guitar tones help maintain the album's high energy and emotional intensity.

Pink Flag by Wire
Jun 05 2026

a wild punk album that leaves you no time to process, presenting a huge number of different ideas while maintaining an almost hyperactive energy level with truly technical performances that are nonetheless capable of conveying a primal feeling four stars, almost five

Fragile by Yes
Jun 08 2026

started with a lot of doubts, but it gradually hooks you in as you listen. the sound might be a challenge at first, but i ended up really vibing to it well balanced mix of classic rock instrumentation, jazz harmonies and metrics, and classical structures that someone decided to call prog rock one of the rare occasions where musical virtuosity doesn't pose a barrier to my ability to enjoy it or connect emotionally.

Appetite For Destruction by Guns N' Roses
Jun 09 2026

can i evaluate without prejudice what ive been calling crap my whole life? theres always a first time for everything turns out i was: right i dont fw all this want to look cool by trying so hard to be bad vibe, the music dont really help either i just dont connect with any aspect of this and everything comes too uninspired to me, i dont think i will remember any of these riffs tomorrow, i was calling the drum fills as they happened and that mfrs voice irritates tf out of me i could keep going but that would be just mean, hope i made clear that i dont like this

Songs The Lord Taught Us by The Cramps
Jun 10 2026

a chaotic and eclectic reinterpretation of the sound of the fifties through a palette of post-punk and horror movie sounds a clear homage to the early rock and roll using simple but catchy riffs, lots of twang and steady grooves but with a punk energy and an exaggerated gothic aesthetic that give it a unique, raw, wild, slightly degenerate and fun personality

Red Headed Stranger by Willie Nelson
Jun 11 2026

as minimalist and compact as it is emotional and evocative a great storytelling piece about loss, despair, and redemption, told through lyrics that are vague yet clear enough, and vocal performances that use pauses, spaces, or enter out of beat, giving a natural, almost conversational feel this minimalism also translates into the economy of musical resources; a mix of guitar and piano with sporadic and soft percussion demonstrates that a simple melody and a few chords can convey more emotion than much more ambitious productions

Back In Black by AC/DC
Jun 12 2026

feel like i always go on too long about what i dont like, so we will keep it short i feel that the albums content, both musically and lyrically, is formulated to please the lowest common denominator; all the songs feel the same, and the constantly excessive high energy level worsens the experience discovering later that this was supposed to be a tribute to a deceased band member feels downright distasteful

Play by Moby
Jun 16 2026

you probably have already heard every song on this album really interesting approach to sample based electronic music, capable of transforming voices and sounds from the past into something contemporary, through hypnotic and contemplative grooves and warm textures of modern synthesizers really "simple" tunes, build around repetitive loops and accesible progressions, but with a powerful emotional charge, something very valuable to achieve with so few elements i wish i could rationalize what its missing to be a 5

So by Peter Gabriel
Jun 17 2026

this is another album from my "I admire it more than i like it" list i can see the influences of african music and non-western rhythms and how, in contrast to 80s pop, it manages to give it a more prominent role rather than using it as accompaniment really polished record capable of bringing gabriel's creative concerns to a more accessible yet sophisticated pop sound, and i believe thats exactly whats stopping me from getting hooked to it

System Of A Down by System Of A Down
Jun 18 2026

im not the most metal guy but i love the twist these guys can give to it maybe the instrumentals fall a bit repetitive but serjs performances compensate it; crazy over the top, eccentric and wild music dont know if their intention is more to make a statement or to entertain you, im more inclined to think its the former, and in the world we live in, maybe thats the most powerful form of protest

Jun 19 2026

really high highs but some weird ass lows manages to hook you with interesting compositions that give a sense of moving forward, only to completely change the atmosphere they have created through certain creative decisions and risks that, in my opinion, dont quite pay off

Amnesiac by Radiohead
Jun 22 2026

wish i could listen to it for the first time again when i didnt understand half the things thom yorke said t may not be the band's most experimental work, but it contains some of their most creative recordings, and i think it is a sonic statement that reflects the potential of the ideas they work with the choice of sounds, the production, and the influences shown in this album reinforce the feeling of uncertainty, of being lost, and of difficulty in putting together the pieces of a fragmented memory to achieve a clearer picture, a concept that works very well and that, despite being in the title, is often overlooked despite not being able to rationalize its flaws, i still feel it needs a little push to reach five stars

3 Feet High and Rising by De La Soul
Jun 23 2026

positivism, good vibes, some absurd humor and a contagious joy that does not depend on the aggressiveness of his contemporaries the production is the most outstanding aspect of this work; a collage of funk, soul and jazz sounds mixed with all kinds of samples in a chaotic but meaningful and purposeful way, sometimes resembling a surrealist radio station apping as such is marked by a carefree and curious tone; you are not dealing with the deepest lyrics or the most elaborate flows because the intention lies elsewhere. it is an equally valid and rarely traveled path; perhaps this was one of the first times, and it is clear the doors it would open for those who came after

Viva Hate by Morrissey
Jun 24 2026

rather than a break with the smiths sound, the album feels like an expansion of morrisseys creative concerns with a greater emphasis on his personality the lyrics are capable of alternating between brilliant poetic images and the most disconcerting eccentricity these songs rely more on instrumental arrangements, vocal melodies, and atmospheric sounds, in contrast to the interwoven melodies and sense of constant movement that marr brought; surely the formula that this work misses

Rum Sodomy & The Lash by The Pogues
Jun 25 2026

my galician ass is kind of fed up with all this celtic bagpipe music and dancing in circles vibe but lets acknowledge the spirit of restoring tradition through the cultural influences of its time the combination of punk intensity and traditional forms creates a profoundly human music, although its cultural imagery may be less immediate for those who do not connect with that universe, or less powerful having been constantly exposed to this particular tradition without having felt a deep cultural connection, as is my case

Groovin' by The Young Rascals

somewhere between the kinks and the early beatles, really enjoyable 60s soulish rock but nothing that really stands out great production and instrumentation, lyrics are a bit cheesy

My Aim Is True by Elvis Costello
Jun 29 2026

harmless punk with soulish and 50s rock and roll influences, ive been told to expect much more of him, so im trying not to get bored, but he could contribute a bit the band has a good grasp of the wide range of genres, but I get the impression that the vocal performances are a bit monotonous

Garbage by Garbage

really interesting exploration of the no longer so alternative sound of the nineties a mix of dirty riffs, rhythms with electronic influences and industrial textures contrasted with pop melodies and catchy choruses there are moments where the band really seems to be trying to explore its own identity, and others where you find good songs that could have been recorded by any other band of the time a work with a lot of personality that scratches my musical itch.

Exit Planet Dust by The Chemical Brothers
Jul 01 2026

two albums in a row from 95, electronic music influenced by hip hop, interesting production moments and sound palette, with glitchy touches contrasting with the drums and their organic beats, really good sequencing it plays with textures, dynamism, and repetition, prioritizing atmosphere and ambience over substance and depth, which can make the songs feel static while i cant say it sounds bad or that i dislike it, i dont feel much connection to the music. i feel its purpose is more utilitarian than emotional, which isnt a problem, but it is not what i usually look for

Jul 02 2026

kind of conflicted about this one, love the beats and the energy but i am a bit thrown off by the rapping, especially q-tips there are some really good wordplays and lyrics, but the flows and delivery just dont click with me; i feel like they end up being repetitive and predictable the album is ultimately sustained by the production and the choice of sounds, with samples of iconic melodies over hardcore funk beats

Teen Dream by Beach House
Jul 03 2026

cool indie from the 2010's, minimalist in instrumentation and intimate in lyrics truly creative recordings throughout the work, with moments of brilliant songwriting well supported by utilitarian, unpretentious but atmospheric and emotional instrumentals despite the good musicality, i find it difficult to find truly memorable moments and also to connect with the kind of intimate emotions it tries to convey

Tom Petty & The Heartbreakers by Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers
Jul 06 2026

fun and short rock and roll album with a well defined identity and without the sometimes unnecessary ambitions of many of its contemporaries three or four minutes song, clean guitars, good hooks, and no interest in proving they were the most virtuosic musicians on the planet it doesnt try to reinvent a language; it seeks to create a timeless sound that gives the feeling of having always existed

Abattoir Blues / The Lyre of Orpheus by Nick Cave & The Bad Seeds
Jul 07 2026

peak blues and gospel sound, intense, emotional, and with just the right touch of eccentricity; an exploration of a sound you already know, taken to a higher level. a fantastic band elevated by great production and a selection of sounds that gives it a unique personality and character. each element serves a purpose greater than its function; the choirs and organs enter like trains on tracks, building blues rhythms with guitar and keyboards, and certain exotic percussions result in something greater than the sum of its parts the biblical and solemn sound reinforces a songwriting that uses symbols from the religious imagination to construct a narrative with the tone of our founding stories against the backdrop of everyday life

Cosmo's Factory by Creedence Clearwater Revival
Jul 08 2026

The album's opening hints at an intention to take the folk sound down the progressive path that other contemporaries in adjacent genres were following, but from there that idea is abandoned and blues standards and folk progressions are explored; these are the language that the band knows in depth and uses to convey a message in which complexity is conspicuous by its absence and which aims to sound untouched by the passage of time.

Diamond Life by Sade

dont really get the hype, smooth pop songs about men with a nice sax sometimes

We're Only In It For The Money by The Mothers Of Invention

so many layers of irony i just dont know what to think, theres even a song about hating hippies performed by eric cartman?? i guess that if i was a hippie in san francisco in the sixties and i heard this in the middle of an acid trip, i wouldnt have started reflecting on how phony i am and zappa would have sounded like a jerk, but nice try

The Downward Spiral by Nine Inch Nails
Jul 14 2026

The lyrics detach me from any positive experience I might have. The concept is supposed to be a descent into madness, and it's supposed to deal with complicated, deep, and dark themes, but all the lyrics are superficial and very underdeveloped, almost childish, which makes it feel ridiculous considering the topics it wants to address. All the feelings of anguish and despair feel forced and performative; when they talk about sex, it makes me want to never fuck again. The music also doesn't help to generate the sense of descent that it's theoretically intended to create; the production choices are quite conservative for the industrial genre, the instrumentals are good but I don't feel that it works organically.

harmless good vibes synth pop; very repetitive, not very memorable, not very my thingy

Jul 16 2026

the most intentionally challenging album so far; i was really expecting something different when i saw byrne in the credits this work represents a break with the norms and the creation of a new paradigm; eno's experimental philosophy is combined with byrne's non western musical influences with the almost obsessive intention of answering the same question that, if we had to formulate it, would be something like 'are the lost voices of the past music in themselves?' one of the greatest exponents of the principle popularized by eno of using the recording studio as a musical instrument, despite the technological limitations of the time, they transformed the recordings into a musical reality that could only exist within that studio they are able to bring together worlds that do not normally coexist, such as funk, african music, radio recordings, or spoken word, in a chaotic mix as distinct as it is digestible, inviting you to walk alongside them even if the path is truly weird

Low by David Bowie
Jul 20 2026

funny getting this one three days later than young americans and two after life in the bush of ghosts, an accessible way to tackle two intimidating discographies the album has a very clear stylistic separation between its two sides; the first still maintains a certain pop structure, although many ideas are explored without being expanded, the songs remain short and are supported by hard hitting percussion sounds the b side is an exploration of ambient sound with long instrumental developments and slow melodies that aim to paint landscapes with sounds; this is where eno's obsessions take center stage, although this also follows bowie's pattern of mastering a language, such as glam or soul, and taking a new path when this language becomes a limitation for expressing his artistic concerns

Casanova by The Divine Comedy
Jul 22 2026

erhaps a bit too theatrical and cheesy for my taste, qualities that stand out especially in the lyrics and vocal performances enjoyable baroque pop, but that doesnt leave many memorable moments or align with my emotional sensibilities enough to not be overlooked.

Jul 23 2026

never a bad time to review your french lessons this is much more interesting than many of his american contemporaries so praised by critics, crazy good flows and rhyme schemes, cant understand half of what hes saying but the delivery makes up for it agnificent instrumentals with influences from free jazz, bebop, funk, african and caribbean music in a chaotic but balanced mix that should make many producers considered paradigms of the genre nervous

The New Tango by Astor Piazzolla
Jul 24 2026

Once again, I feel that the demonstration of musical virtuosity is the biggest obstacle I encounter when it comes to enjoying music. I don't understand jazz harmonies, I'm not familiar with tango in any of its forms, hell, I don't even know what a vibraphone is. I know where the notes are on the guitar and that this music is not made for me. For an untrained ear like mine, it's difficult to understand the structures, follow the motifs of the melodies, or even distinguish between tracks. My negative rating comess from a lack of cultural sensitivity and the necessary musical knowledge and training to appreciate and understand this work, which is far beyond my capabilities.

Out Of The Blue by Electric Light Orchestra
Jul 27 2026

too prog for the town of blues, too blues for prog city, i feel that trying to reconcile these two currents makes part of the essence of both a bit diluted an extensive collection of hits; towards the second half it starts to get moodier and more orchestral, and I think that's when it works best

Fleet Foxes by Fleet Foxes
Jul 28 2026

solid indie folk record that explores themes and sounds that aim to survive the test of time vocal harmonies, strings, and acoustic guitars are the canvas on which some great songwriting paints unconventional melodies and song structures

Bitches Brew by Miles Davis
Jul 29 2026

acknowledging the abyss that separates my ability to enjoy this from being able to understand it the longest and by far most challenging album yet, i appreciate the quality of the performances, which are unlike anything i've ever heard before. top tier musicians creating a new language in an almost telepathic way; the groundbreaking spirit that leads them to do more than just the next great jazz album, adapting the same spirit of contemporaries from different genres, from psychedelia to prog, passing through funk and everything that represented the new social and cultural reality

Debut by Björk
Aug 03 2026

one of the most unique and idiosyncratic artists you can find a heterogeneous collection of influences ranging from house music and trip hop to pop ballads that, despite being identifiable, do not give the feeling of having listened to a mixture of different genres, but rather a different experience that can only be reached through the personal vision and the artist's own voice the vocal performances are the most recognizable and perhaps most groundbreaking aspect of the album, not only because of the timbre of the voice, but also because of the unconventional way of accelerating, stopping, and breaking down the structures of the melodies organically in favor of the emotions they try to convey

OK Computer by Radiohead

pretty good but it is no ok computer

Aug 05 2026

Great sound design, especially the bass, and full of ear candy; good taste in samples; organic but repetitive; most of the songs take a motif; melody loops, bass lines, chords, and explore it through repetition and a layered production. These characteristics define this genre but make it difficult to connect with this type of music on an emotional level.

The Sun Rises In The East by Jeru The Damaja

good hip hop album from the nineties, halfway between conscious hip hop and gangsta rap good pseudo-intellectual and philosophical lyrics, intricate and elaborate rhyme patterns that focus on knowledge and on hip hop as a path to achieve it

Parklife by Blur

damon has to be one of the most prolific and consistent songwriters of the last 30 years, such a unique ear for melody and versatility across the different genres he explores this album is a satirical portrait of 90s england presented through a catalog of typically british characters and sounds; working class struggle and punk music, the rave scene and electronic music, strong accents and 60s garage music... The cultural language is constantly changing without losing identity because the story that is intended to be told needs to be expressed with those styles and that flexibility.

Aug 11 2026

One of the best opening track sequences I've ever heard, the first side of the first disc and the title track are much more than a huge collection of timeless hits; they are a statement of intent about what can be done with different influences without losing the essence, with the overflowing personality of the music being what holds everything together. Taupin's lyrics, full of metaphors and narratives of scenes with very different characters, use very concrete images to deal with much more abstract emotions in a direct way and without the need for explanations, and they fit perfectly with Elton's ability to interpret melodies that feel almost inevitable and that turn the extravagance of the lyrics into songs with the potential for success and that are truly accessible.

Birth Of The Cool by Miles Davis
Aug 12 2026

kind of a downer after listening to bitches brew this week, different on almost every level, and while this one is more accessible, I think I lack the knowledge and context of the music of the moment to fully understand its importance There are some jams that grab you from the first moment, where the musicians flex their virtuosity by exchanging phrases and improvising over dissonant harmonies at a very high tempo, and there are others where i dony quite understand where they are trying to go

Toys In The Attic by Aerosmith
Aug 13 2026

just not my thing, it seems like they took everything i dont like about the stones and brought it to america to make a band around it feel like my criticism of this type of music always ends up being redundant, so yeah; uninspired, superficial, underdeveloped and completely removed from the fundamental spirit of the blues

Aug 14 2026

these boys connected with the collective consciousness, and the universe decided to express itself through them, it's a shame that most of the songs are overplayed to the point of exhaustion blur still better tho

We Are Family by Sister Sledge
