mama used to play ts in the car, great folk tunes and some big hits, love the sound maybe a bit monotone
instantly resonates with a sound i always seem to be looking for, got to dive more into stevie, such great musicianship, loved the sound pallete and the dark minimalistic vibe, every tune has its great moment, just a pleasure to listen to, two seventies records in a row; completely different vibe, both bangers tho
not the biggest U2 guy, great dark vibe tho, again cant say this is bad but defo not for me
first album that ive already listened, gonna give it another spin but i know ts good
man sympathy for the devil has to be one of the best songs ever, not just just written but performed, those jams in between verses, everyone is in flow state goddamn
it might be a bit of a hanging matter mick, subtle foreshadowing as the kids say
anyways a banger of an album, these four stars might be a bit higher than the stevie album
shits so short but so powerful, what a voice, great fucking orchestration also, this musics peak, 4 a bit lower than Beggars and Stevie
dang the lyrics are def something, can tell she was 19 and it was the early century. on the other hand what a voice and what a woman
man, theses cats are swinging, man
i know people say this kind of music is a challenge for new listeners and stuff but i find it appealing at first glance, not a boring moment, enjoying all the 'wrong notes' the dissonance the weird trumpet sounds great great
i dont have the musical knowledge to describe what is going on but ts slaps
cliche here but it sounds like it could be made today, there was a complete silence during one track, i thought it might be a uploading error, but seeing the sonic risks they took from that point on, I'm going to want to believe it was deliberate.
i am thinking about giving it five stars but it bothers me to have the near certainty that I wont return to this album except in a context like this
idk this one doesnt resonate with me at all im not giving 1 star because it is listenable but i feel complete indifference about it, good bass sound and some synths here and there if i have to say something positive
weird and dark, there are a few stand out moments i love when they go unga unga
dont think this will end on my rotation but a fun listen
skipped one day cause of fathers day i hope i didnt f up anything, listening to this now and then the album for today
was expecting something different from what ive heard from rod stewart but so far loving the energy, the band is killing it and rod performs so freaking good
front to back high energy tracks very well performed, those drums slap, loved the bluesy vibe
top tier, this funky soul gender bending stuff is where it is at
tunes to dance to, to get lost in the bass lines and the little ear candies, the most produced album so far but in a good way, the sound selection is so great, fantastic track after fantastic track
you know when something is so good it makes you giggle? this album does it for me kinda weird i cant rate it until monday but i feel this is a 5 star
listening to rough mix or whatever that means cause youtube cant play an album without messing up the tracks
it just feels redundant saying anything about these guys but this is what being locked tf in sounds like, every member is just heaven sent they give everything the song needs, i dont know how to put it to words but no egos just top tier musicians creating something as capable of changing someone's life now as it was fifty years ago
i think ive said this before but imma forgive the brits for the cultural appropiation of the blues we are going to let that one slide
this walks the thin line between horny and weird as good as we all wish
this is a classic that ive never dedicated the time to properly listen to; you see, i say i like movies and I havent seen citizen kane
first few tracks are a bit of a weak start but from the beautiful ones it gets wild wild, it was great when the synth and his voice kinda mixed and followed eachother phrasings but from there the masterful guitar playing and vocal performances just steal the focus of attention on the next few songs
i feel like the singles are the weakest part of the album they feel like watered down for mass appeal, understandable being a soundtrack for a movie, cash rules, but i think i will find the better prince outside of this project
imma go against the waves here because, as a whole, the album didnt do much for me
oh god i miss dropping some acid
hate that you have to press save everytime you write something
crisp sound, huge drums, underrated vocals and timeless guitar tone, maybe a bit homoheneous, undeniable classic record
crazy synth bass wobwobobWOO
i love finding stuff that feels like was waiting for me, straight into rotation
yoshimi this yoshimi that the main character is the ride cymball
these lyrics had me near crying the whole time, im supposed to talk about the music but the lyrics are so powerful here, lovely imagery and characters that wed perfectly with eltons voice and energy
it loses weight as it progresses, but there isnt a significant qualitative difference compared to the first tracks, great listen from front to back
great guitar playing on this thing loving the soulish fills but everything else feels like a collection of cliches like they were only allowed to play three jams, dont think rating this the same as elton or so is fair, could be listening to it all day but doesnt feel too inspired, im not a dirty dancing guy so i dont connect to it trough that one song
yay reagge and politics everyones favorite i was like okay if the musics always gonna be bum tara bum ta lets check the lyrics, for my surprise just as monotone, two songs in they already butchered lean on me, one positive thing about this are the basslines
jammy, trippy, funky, great vibes very cool sound desing and glitchy grooves
feels like a mix between king gizzard and pink floyd, lots of very enjoyable moments but nothing too memorable
really overlooked guitar playing almost hypnotic rhythm, timeless vocals and delibery mf was like twenty and sounds like hes been trough his third divorce
i have always been intimidated by his discog but i feel this is a perfect introduction, i have to pay more attention to the lyrics because thats his strong point but this is the kind of music that inspires you to make music, so minimalistic but so emotional, raw and silly, this is what sounded in my mind when i think of american misic
i can imagine how it shook the world when it came out, but if youre a regular hip-hop listener, it's noticeable how it has aged
the flows are somewhat repetitive, and the rhyme schemes aren't very elaborate, although it doesn't seem to emphasize these aspects as much as the message, which may seem angry and over-the-top, but was necessary and the basis of the cultural language for a large part of the following generations
on the other hand the beats are still fresh af
having fun while we learn yay
an album that shouldnt feel any more foreign than the rest of anglosaxon music up to now, but it still does; despite living with this language just a few kilometers away, i understand less than I understand in any other english recording
these rhythms invite you to move, bringing your hands together at chest level and taking little steps. i find the pauses for explanations amusing. very good vibes, but it feels like the songs dont go anywhere. entertaining from beginning to end
wow, you never know whats going to happen next, from gospel ballads to smooth rnb to funk that makes you make the stank face
something more than a collection of songs, it is a statement fueled by the talent of a visionary, ironically, and a great selection of colaborators
def going back to this feels like it is more dense than what i can unpack now
caught a dilla sample here hehe
solid classic rock that dips the toes in the kind of psydelic kind of prog territory, knows very well when to be goofy, killer lead guitar and vocals
always great to be reminded to give this a few spins
george voice comes directly from heaven, hes always been my fav fab, the guitar toan on this is as warm as a hug from your mother
on the other hand there are a lot of cuts that maybe shouldnt have made it, im grateful that they exist but do we need backing tracks or first takes of songs already on the album? i get it you dont have to play the 3 discs every time but feels redundant
the moog synth gives a strong character to the sound pallete, great contrast with the folky vibe, also great collaborators on the closing tracks jams and an overall massive sound
imma be biased with the rating on this one
rightfully angry and powerful and it is shown on the abrassive production and the straight up lyrics
this really manages to paint a stark portrait, as uncomfortable to watch as it is humorous, of the social tensions of the time, trough statements that dont really need for metaphors or embelishments to prove its point over some of the most sample stacked beats ive heard
god this is great, godly deliveries and flows, ad libs and everything every verse is flawless, they make a great symbiosys or however you spell that in english
constant fine ass references and sort of pseudo intelectual lyrics that weds perfectly with the funny punch lines
the production knows when and how to keep it simple, they let the dynamic range to the vocals
the lowest points are actually the covers but still feel this is gonna get a five
second jimi album and he is going up in my vocalist rankings
everything i can say feel really redundant, great drums that give a racing track for the supercar that is jimis guitar sound, tape reversed guitar tracks > every other sound
the whole album felt like a blink of an eye
love the instrumentals and the production, it nails the bled between exotic and glitchy with them synths and the percussions, but the lyrics and the vocal performances make the project fall a bit flat for me
it shines more when it goes folky rather than jammy, nice discovery tho definetely some tracks that im going back to
great energy post punk, mad bass driven tunes, not the most diverse pallete but the sound they go for is immaculate, kind of ambient kind of weird ear candies, the vocalist sometimes reminds me of damon albarn
is that... is that taxman??
pretty horny but really tasteful, great grooves and excellent guitar tone
works just as well when it surrenders to funk rhythms as when it stops to whisper slightly risqué ballads in your ear
this man is the pinnacle of overflowing talent in every sense; im glad to be able to tackle such an intimidating discography from such a prolific artist, forcing me to dissect it on my own terms
every song has its moments, and every performance elevates the tracks to give us something much greater than the sum of its parts
