Excellent harmonies. Every track is great to my ears. Love the Laurel Canyon sound.
Classic
I loved Allison in a few songs, but it got kind of repetitive after a while. I am a fan of Elvis Costello‘s later work and I could see where he evolved as an artist from this.
There’s a few bangers on this album, but it’s mostly repetitive. Its impressive what they did with three or four chords over and over again.
I love the entire album. Radiohead is just a feeling..
That Helene band that I’ve never really listened to too much as an album band only on the radio. I definitely understand why they were a powerhouse in the 80s. Every song rocks. Panama is my favorite.
Now I see why Pete Townshend sang about him in you better you bet. Another one that I only heard the radio tracks, but this is a new classic album for me.
Reminded me of Mary J Blige but more cringey. Not too original but some good beats.
This definitely reminds me of my high school days, but it’s tough to listen to them knowing they are white supremacist or at least empathic to the cause. Some great riffs though.
Rough sounds and does a lot with simple riffs and rudimentary beats.
The early new wave is a sound. You hear the beginnings of what is to come, but nothing stood out for me. The synth sound is music to my ears
Love 90s rap. I hadn’t listened to Gang Starr in 30 years.
One of the best albums of the early 2000s. Great melodies and arrangements, and Glenn Kotche’s drumming makes every song.
Superstition is such a great tune. I never sat down to listen to this album. Some hits but also a lot of lesser known great songs.
Where it all began. Up on Blueberry Hill. What a voice.
Great vocals and cool beats. Reminds me of 80s New Wave but with a newer sound.
My favorite Bowie album (that Ive listened to). Mark Ronson brought so much to his sound.
Great retro hard rock that still sounds new. I never listened to any song beyond the one I believe in a thing called love, but there were some other good songs.
The Strokes are Sonic Youth 10 years later. Love the sound and punk rock energy.
Sounds like Beach Boys meets the Stooges.
Africano just slaps.
I see where so much of the 90s and 2000s bands got their influence. And they are Irish so that’s an extra. I may have to give it another listen.
I had a good month in high school when I listened to this on repeat. What Happened to You is so good. The songs are even better live.
Some of the beat Bowie songs in Changes, Oh You Pretty Things, and of course Life on Mars? Some weaker tunes on the b side buy still great in the context of the full album.
some nice tunes and I see where they influenced all of the 90s punk like Rancid. A bit too long for punk.
now I know where Jamiroquai got his sound.
I love the late 70s early 80s Elvis Costello and this had some remnants of it, but nothing really hit for me.
Master of puppets. What an influence on so many bands.
Never heard of them, but they fit in with the 80s sounds. Some great tracks on here.
Some great tracks and classic tunes.
great album. Was on repeat for me in 2010. Half Light I and Sprawl standout.
Fake Plastic Trees is such a great song. The album just works.
Amazing what they did before the technology was really developed. The beginnings of the techno and 80s sound.
It’s minimalist but I was expecting some mood changes. Didn’t really grab me at any point and repetitive.
I didn’t realize I’d like this album so much. I’m gonna give it a few more listens.
A great start to their sound.
Really enjoyed this and never heard of him. Reminded me of Nick Lowe’s later work. Old sounding but new.
What are the best unplugged album and there were many great ones. The meat puppets covers are classic and it’s capped off by the lead belly cover at the end.
Some great tunes and love the celtic influence.
There are some good lyrics and good production. But I need a few extra listens. Vanderlye is a great track
Perfect album for a rainy Saturday day. The virtuosity on these tracks are awesome..
Some of the classic Dylan songs, and the beginning of a great run of albums. Well, every song is great. Some of the songs aren’t as listenable as others.
Perfect album.
One of the best live albums ever. And it’s Johnny Cash.
I can see the influence. I probably need a few more listens.
I felt like I was listening to the in between of latter day Beatles and the Talking Heads.
Isley Bro collab was a highlight.
So many great tunes. I had this from father’s vinyl collection and loved it then. Stuck Inside of Mobile With The Memphis Blues Again is a highlight.
Brings me back to my 90s techno faze.
Every song works. I know U2 gets kicked around a lot but they were great in this era. Brian Eno produced and he is amazing.
Loved the Just Like Heaven cover. It was the beginning of the 90s sound.
Love the Spanish sound. Ive heard them in collaborations but never by themselves.
Interesting beats but she seems like such a terrible person it was a tough listen.
Not really my music, but I absolutely love disco bass lines. Great vocals.
One of the best live albums, especially the first half acoustic.
I never listened to them because Jack Black made fun of them in High Fidelity. Decent but a bit slow.
Some nice sounding Brit Pop
There are some good harmonies and some good melodies, but it’s just a little too sappy for me.
Some filler but even that filler is better than most. Dear Prudence is a masterpiece.
I never gave it a serious lesson when it came out, but this was really great. Well produced and great lyrics.
Some dated lyrics but still sounds new. Would have loved to have been at one of these shows back in the day.
Such great songs beyond the hits. Mother and Child Reunion is quite the opener.
Loved this record from my dad's record collection. Some weaker tracks but Peace Frog and Waiting for the Sun make up for it. And of course Roadhouse Blues. The line, "the futures uncertain and the end is always near" is especially forboding for Jim Morrison.
One of my most listened to albums of the nineties. I enjoy it from start to finish, even if Wonderwall is overplayed.
