1001 Albums Summary

This was a little outside my normal listening range so I don't know that it's fair to discount this on only one listen, but I didn't see much that would indicate this would grow on me if I listened to it more. Definitely get the "shoe gaze" classification.

3.5 stars. Definitely will revisit this one. My new found passion for Rammstein opens up the way for this. Meaning that I'm more tolerant of stuff not in English. No idea what they're singing about, but it's catchy!

Another 3.5 and an album that's worthy of further investigation. Don't care much for the autotune-heavy "modern" production, but it was a new tool around this time so was required to be used to death.

Weird. Nice to come across something from the Floyd universe I wasn't acquainted with. But weird.

Funky!

This is not what I was expecting! Robert Wyatt's "Rock Bottom" is weird in a recognizable way, but this album is weird in a way I don't normally experience. I did some computer work while I listened but still lyrics about "butt slaps" (more than once!) and "polka dot panties" found their way through. Not my cup of tea, but I can see why it might make a list like this.

Vocals remind me of Neil Young, which isn't necessarily a good thing. This isn't terrible but I'm rather surprised it's gotten so much acclaim.

What, I can't vote for this one? The first 5/5?

Spectacular! Not their best effort but one of the most consistent early albums.
