Hard Again by Muddy Waters
Jun 17 2026

Classic blues. I knew the first song but not the others. Its fun to know where the song will go even though they are new to me and to also listen to a full album. There's of "noise" that is different from my typical music so that is a fun difference.

Jun 18 2026

Wow! I am totally delighted by this album. I love the power ballads with "different" instruments. I'm so used to classic rock being either guitar hero/queen, ccr, led Zeppelin type bands, but apparently king crimson helped to launch og rock and be a subgenre new to me that is totally up my alley!

You Want It Darker by Leonard Cohen
Jun 19 2026

Not my style of music, but done really well. Beautiful deep voice

Boston by Boston
Jun 22 2026

I love those album. So many fun and classic songs. So glad this is a part of the project. The bass (along with all the other instruments ) in foreplay/long time is one of my favorites.

1984 by Van Halen
Jun 23 2026

This is fine. Jump is a classic, but there's nothing special about it. Not really memorable.

Marquee Moon by Television
Jun 24 2026

I liked this! Good ballads and fun instruments. Not as crazy as crimson king.

Hunky Dory by David Bowie
Jun 25 2026

I don't think I've listened to a Bowie album all the way through before, I just know the (many) more popular songs. It was done well!

Horses by Patti Smith
Jun 26 2026

I am pleasantly surprised at how much I liked this album. Each song further lured me into enjoyment. Reminds me of 4 non blondes. Creative lyrics (that I actually listened to!)

Power In Numbers by Jurassic 5
Jun 29 2026

Powerful words. I appreciated the different vocals and beats

Dookie by Green Day
Jun 30 2026

The first half of the album was very nonspecific. The latter half had more famous songs that were honestly just okay.

Wonderful Rainbow by Lightning Bolt
Jul 01 2026

I like music that has "noise" when it is energetic and purposeful. This is...music put in a blender. The amount of guitar screeches alone was nails on a chalkboard. There was one song that sounded like it had other instruments, and that was a very meh okay.

Talking Heads 77 by Talking Heads
Jul 02 2026

I enjoy talking heads a lot. I think this album really shows off all the different instruments (including the voice as an instrument). Ironically, I think psycho killer is the least talking heads-esque song. I haven't listened to this album as much as others, though.

Let's Get Killed by David Holmes
Jul 03 2026

This was fine. Background music that sounds like movie background music, so that fits the description. But not anything I'd seek out.

Nevermind by Nirvana
Jul 06 2026

Classic. Drums high quality. Voice high quality. Guitar high quality. Though the more famous songs were the more energetic songs that showcased things better.

Ready To Die by The Notorious B.I.G.
Jul 07 2026

I can see why this is influential, but it's just not for me.

Dirty by Sonic Youth
Jul 09 2026

Grungy. Middle school me would've loved this, but without the nostalgia it's just okay

Innervisions by Stevie Wonder
Jul 10 2026

I really enjoyed this. There's a lot more to Stevie Wonder than isn't she lovely etc. Easy to listen to (outside of the courtroom interlude).

Led Zeppelin III by Led Zeppelin
Jul 14 2026

I enjoyed it, but the songs got repetitive and the constant falsetto got old.

Endtroducing..... by DJ Shadow
Jul 15 2026

Background noise. But good background noise. I don't think I'd listen again, but I didn't dislike trying it out.

The Band by The Band
Jul 16 2026

Not bad, but definitely twangy and got old after 3 songs.

Jul 17 2026

It was background music to me, so I didn't listen that carefully to assess if it was "good" background music.

American Idiot by Green Day
Jul 20 2026

Lots of meaning, made into a musical for a reason. I didn't realize so many of the songs were paired together.

Are You Experienced by Jimi Hendrix
Jul 21 2026

I realize I don't like endless high pitch guitars and/or brass that sounds like there is something I need to tend to in the room or traffic. This album has both. Though I can't deny the skill and influence this has.

Blue Lines by Massive Attack
Jul 22 2026

I enjoyed this. I knew of massive attack from teardrop. It is good to listen to but I might not actively pick it.

A Wizard, A True Star by Todd Rundgren
Jul 23 2026

The flow from one song to the next. The instruments. Very dynamic sounds. I loved it!

Head Hunters by Herbie Hancock
Jul 24 2026

This is a jazzy, YouTube meme-ish, laser tag kinda music. But I still liked it.

OK Computer by Radiohead
Jul 27 2026

Maybe this is controversial, but it is just okay. There is a lot of mumbling/quiet that makes it hard to decipher good quality vs spaghetti on the wall. And it's either so mellow or occasionally active it doesn't jive together. But it is influential.

Nilsson Schmilsson by Harry Nilsson
Jul 28 2026

So this is where the lime in the coconut cane from. Nothing else to take home.

Quiet Life by Japan
Jul 29 2026

Start 80s new wave. Good.

The Nightfly by Donald Fagen
Jul 30 2026

This was fine. Eady listening but nothing to write home about.

2112 by Rush
Jul 31 2026

I'm torn. I love power ballads. Geddy Lee's voice belongs with Rush. But I don't think I'd choose to listen to a full album of it. Micro doses (even if the first "song" is 20 minutes) is preferable.

At Mister Kelly's by Sarah Vaughan
Aug 03 2026

I normally don't go for live albums. It was funny having the overview of the live recording at the start. I know the style of singing had to be a certain way to be captured on recording and that's what gives it the extra old timey sound. It was good and true to what I'd expect for this music!

Green River by Creedence Clearwater Revival
Aug 04 2026

I know this is an influential album. It was nice to hear songs outside of Bad Moon Rising. I thinks generally done well. It's just not my jam.

Get Behind Me Satan by The White Stripes
Aug 05 2026

I enjoy the white stripes. Do I think this is musically good? Not particularly, it has a loooot going on with minimal cohesion. But I like it so it gets 4 stars.

Yank Crime by Drive Like Jehu
Aug 06 2026

This album is true to what it is: punk, noise rock. There are aspects I find okay, but the occasional sound of my phone buzzing or loooong interludes of quietness is a real drawback.

1999 by Prince
Aug 07 2026

So horny. Delightful for all the energy.

Californication by Red Hot Chili Peppers
Aug 10 2026

The hits are good, but the rest just didn't lure me in.

Stephen Stills by Stephen Stills
Aug 12 2026

I disliked a song, I liked a song, I disliked a song, I liked a song. For a plain ish singer, it was impressive the number of different instruments used

Vanishing Point by Primal Scream
Aug 13 2026

I think this is the best "background noise" type album yet. I might also be influenced by being pleasantly surprised at the not scream-o. I still wouldn't choose it.

Foxbase Alpha by Saint Etienne
Aug 14 2026

This surely was 90s pop cosplaying 60s music. But that's not the genre I like.

Red Headed Stranger by Willie Nelson
Aug 17 2026

I'm not a country person, but I guess if I had to pick, I like the Willie isn't "truck and beer" or conservative country.

Songs Of Leonard Cohen by Leonard Cohen
Aug 18 2026

I think I rated the first album of his I heard higher our if novelty. Now, I'm over it and not into the poetic slow nature.

Life's Too Good by The Sugarcubes
Aug 19 2026

You mean this isn't the b-52s? I liked birthday. The rest was okay. I guess it is of the era, but not necessarily something I'd seek out.
