Classic blues. I knew the first song but not the others. Its fun to know where the song will go even though they are new to me and to also listen to a full album. There's of "noise" that is different from my typical music so that is a fun difference.
Wow! I am totally delighted by this album. I love the power ballads with "different" instruments. I'm so used to classic rock being either guitar hero/queen, ccr, led Zeppelin type bands, but apparently king crimson helped to launch og rock and be a subgenre new to me that is totally up my alley!

I love those album. So many fun and classic songs. So glad this is a part of the project. The bass (along with all the other instruments ) in foreplay/long time is one of my favorites.
This is fine. Jump is a classic, but there's nothing special about it. Not really memorable.

I am pleasantly surprised at how much I liked this album. Each song further lured me into enjoyment. Reminds me of 4 non blondes. Creative lyrics (that I actually listened to!)

The first half of the album was very nonspecific. The latter half had more famous songs that were honestly just okay.
I like music that has "noise" when it is energetic and purposeful. This is...music put in a blender. The amount of guitar screeches alone was nails on a chalkboard. There was one song that sounded like it had other instruments, and that was a very meh okay.
I enjoy talking heads a lot. I think this album really shows off all the different instruments (including the voice as an instrument). Ironically, I think psycho killer is the least talking heads-esque song. I haven't listened to this album as much as others, though.
This was fine. Background music that sounds like movie background music, so that fits the description. But not anything I'd seek out.
Classic. Drums high quality. Voice high quality. Guitar high quality. Though the more famous songs were the more energetic songs that showcased things better.

This is a jazzy, YouTube meme-ish, laser tag kinda music. But I still liked it.
Maybe this is controversial, but it is just okay. There is a lot of mumbling/quiet that makes it hard to decipher good quality vs spaghetti on the wall. And it's either so mellow or occasionally active it doesn't jive together. But it is influential.

I'm torn. I love power ballads. Geddy Lee's voice belongs with Rush. But I don't think I'd choose to listen to a full album of it. Micro doses (even if the first "song" is 20 minutes) is preferable.
I normally don't go for live albums. It was funny having the overview of the live recording at the start. I know the style of singing had to be a certain way to be captured on recording and that's what gives it the extra old timey sound. It was good and true to what I'd expect for this music!
I know this is an influential album. It was nice to hear songs outside of Bad Moon Rising. I thinks generally done well. It's just not my jam.
I enjoy the white stripes. Do I think this is musically good? Not particularly, it has a loooot going on with minimal cohesion. But I like it so it gets 4 stars.
This album is true to what it is: punk, noise rock. There are aspects I find okay, but the occasional sound of my phone buzzing or loooong interludes of quietness is a real drawback.

So many "waaaaaahhhhh". Very repetitive, some of the brass was fun, but I wasn't a fan of the other 95% of the components.
So this is what the wombats were referring to with "let's dance to joy division"?! I don't think this is my dancing music (I have looked up the background to that song and it is referencing the irony of dancing to a sad song). I enjoyed the 80s sounding noises and vibes.
I generally dislike live albums and was initially disappointed that a live album would be on the 1001 albums. However, this live album very much makes sense. I'm not a Johnny Cash person, but I thought this was well done and I can respect the impact. 3.5
I think it's hard for me to critique rap albums. Nothing stood out one way or the other.
I don't want to inflate my rating due to her passing; however, as someone who is not a country music music, I really liked it. You can hear the genuineness in the lyrics and the emotion she is able to convey in singing. My only dislike is that almost all of the songs end similarly and kind of abruptly, and her vibrato is a bit much at times.
Reminds me of Phil Collins. I like the 80s instruments, but there is too much vocals for my taste (even though the vocals were good). The sledgehammer music video was delightfully ridiculous.
I know I'm not a Radiohead person. But they need to pick a lane- either chill mellow music or chaotic energetic, or at least the same in each song, or maybe one flip/album. It's just jarring when it's multiple songs.
Additionally, either have the vocals intelligible or not. He sings as if it should understand, but you can't.
Live and acoustic. Ehhh, it loses the magic of that powerful drum and oh so fun guitar. Plus Kurt Cobain's voice gets old after a while. The songs sounded very similar.
I didn't like it but I didn't dislike it. I realize it had the nostalgic sound of DDR songs, but I don't think that's a compliment. While I appreciate some of the 80s style noises, they are sampled way too quickly to be good.

I really enjoyed this and all the variety/all directions. I also recently watched sinners which is very related.
If you don't like obnoxious vibrato and folksy this ain't for you.
