1001 Albums Summary

High-octane start to the scheme. Lots of the songs sound very similar but that doesn't really matter if the blueprint is a banger. Great album. Made me wanna sniff some glue.

Listened to the first half of this in a post-World Cup ketamine inflicted stupor, which, as it turns out, is absolutely the correct way to listen to this album as I enjoyed it quite a lot less on the second listen. Found some of the songs pretty tedious but some good ones too. 'Exit Music', 'Electioneering' and 'No Surprises' were the highlights for me.

I thought this would be a slog without the visual accompaniment of the film, which is a masterpiece, but I really enjoyed it. Film is still a better experience but the album is a good listen regardless and you can still get a sense of the story without the visuals.

Loved the song with Nicki Minaj and generally the production side was good. I just find his voice too annoying to enjoy it very much.

Was looking forward to this, hadn't listened in a few years and it was as good as I remembered. Only things stopping me from giving it 5 stars is that some of the best tracks weren't actually on the original album but were added in a reissue.

Great fun and totally unique, up there with my all time favourite hip-hop albums.

The second half was better than the first. There are a few standout tracks but not sure I would necessarily seek out to listen apart from as background music. Iggy Pop feature was fun. Would probably give a 3.5 if it was possible but I think it is closer to a 3 than a 4 star.

Starts off strong but quickly becomes dull. I can see the appeal if I was there in a smoky jazz club with a cocktail but sadly I am not. I don't know enough about jazz to say what type I prefer so the best I can go for is 'Ore No Ryomi 2 soundtrack jazz'. This was not that.

50% bangers, 50% misses. Much preferred the funkier tracks to the slower ones, some of which I found a bit dreary.

Quite the romp.

Couldn't make it through to the end. I hate it.

Potentially my favourite Beatles album, although this changes pretty frequently. Every song is fantastic. Some of the best psychedelic rock of the era from John and George and the most beautifully crafted love songs from Paul. Masterful. Only note: bring back the 95% supertax and stop moaning about it, George.

Perfectly listenable just not my cup of tea at all.

Pretty decent but didn't stand out all that much.

Thoroughly enjoyable apart from 'The The Empty' which irritated me. Varied with tongue-in-cheek lyrics. Regrettably they made a song to support Hillary Clinton called 'I'm With Her' which has some of the most genuinely horrendous lyrics I've ever heard. But I'm sure they were cool in the 90s.

Better than last Metallica album. Still a slog. Devastated to learn that there are another two of their albums on the list.

Pretty good but no songs I found outstanding. Will be listening again.

Good old fashioned blues rock.

It's all about Bootie Brown. Magnificent.

A bit of a mixed bag. Loved 'Chicken Bones' and that bonus track where he's doing a menacing German accent. Less keen on the first few tracks and the lyrics of 'Marz' made me shudder.

Groundbreaking album. Always a pleasure. I may never fly like Superman, climb like Spiderman, BEND LIKE BANANAMAN.

Not my favourite Bobby D album but still pretty damn good.

Hadn't heard of these dons before but wowzers my trousers what an album.

One of those albums that has really grown on me over the years, perhaps aided by Dub Side of the Moon (which is incredible). Can't fault it.

Unsurprisingly couldn't finish this as listening to the entire album would constitute a form of self-flagellation.
