I mean It's nothing special I take it back. This is awesome 5
I recently started listening to some Sturgill Simpson and loved hearing that country sound that Waylon and Willie pioneered being carried forward into the 21st century. This fit right in with that and I really loved it!
Competently done bluegrass style music. I'd say it doesn't sound all the special but I'd welcome more of this music on the list. But this ultimately doesn't do it for me. My personal rating: 3/5 My rating relative to the list: 3.5/5 Should this have been included on the original list? No
Yee haw ya idiots
Rating: 7/10 Best songs: Feathered Indians, Whitehouse road, Universal sound
One initially doubted his authenticity – seemed to check too many hillbilly boxes too perfectly to be legit – but if it's good enough for Sturgill ... It's solid top to botoom. "I got women up and down this creek ... run me ragged but I don't fret/ain't one slowed me none yet" is an all-time lyric, straight outta the holler. The fiddle + protest song record also deepened one's belief. Good stuff. Great choice.
Good pick !
Purgatory is a country album by Tyler Childers. I don't really like slick, modern country music, but this album stays on the good side of the force. If you are looking for something innovative or alt-country, this is not it. If you are looking for something decent and with integrity and you don't care about cheesy lyrics, this is a lot of fun. I saw Tyler Childers live (Once In A Blue Moon Festival in Amsterdam in 2019) and enjoyed it.
Cozy country
Country, bluegrass, honky-tonk, Appalachian, Americana, folk. Ni fu ni fa.
Decent country LP with a classic bent, solid listen but didn’t really blow my socks off. Think the lyrics leaned too far into pop country tendencies still, but the instrumentals were a perfect mix of old and new.
This is pretty good. Not exactly my cup of tea but I can appreciate it. 3 stars.
Solid old school leaning country music. A little heavy on the drugs and drink content, glad to hear he got sober.
Not bad
Country music that's not too special
No more country
