MY WOMAN

MY WOMAN is the third album of singer-songwriter Angel Olsen. It contains folky indie rock. She lost me in the second half of the album as the songs are slower and her nasal voices started nagging me (especially in Pops), the first part is more uptempo and a lot better. All in all a nice album, but not mindblowing.

The slower second half of this is less impressive than the first few tracks. Overall, it's a decent album with some cracking tracks on it, but it definitely ends weaker.

I definitely preferred the first half of the album, which has a more upbeat, direct style with some really catchy songs and a great balance of indie rock and pop. The second half is much more slow-paced and retrospective, which is quite a contrast and will probably take a few more listens to fully appreciate. Overall though, I really enjoyed this and can see it going into my frequent rotation. A great example of genuinely good modern music, although I suppose 10 years old now!

Kind of a haunting Lana Del Rey feel that really won me over.

Yea this front half is cool, though not really my aesthetic.

Didn't listen to all of it

Kinda your classic whispery woman pop but this time with fuzzy guitars. I liked the arrangements on a lot of these and enjoyed my time, but doubt I’ll revisit.

This was just alright for me. Nice voice, solid songs, but nothing really stood out to me. 3 stars.

This was good, interesting writing and well performed. I wish there was a little more going on instrumentally, and her vocal range is limited, but in both respects it gets the job done.

I liked that the vocal effects were a bit janky and broken but otherwise it felt a bit dull

I wonder about the sort of people who find MY WOMAN to be essential listening. I suspect I wouldn't find them very interesting. 2.

Pretty boring and unoriginal, but not actively bad. Probably scores a second star largely because of how terrible other albums on the list are! Far from essential listening though - just another sad American who knows 4 chords
