it's OK but completely forgettable
A great treat to discover! Yes, sometimes the songs tend to go on long, but it is still a fantastic listen overall. Best songs are "We Will Not Be Lovers" and "Soon as I Get Home"

fun pop-punk
Interesting idea but not great. something that would catch my attention at a restaurant or cafe
interesting but not for me
interesting and fun
love love love this album
Really good beats but OK lyrics
wow, that was unexpectedly fun!
good, fun music!
I was halfway through the album when I realized I wasn't listening to one long song. This is completely forgettable.
real talent, but not my style
mostly forgettable. Most interesting when he lets the backing singers and band get funky/bluesy. Best song: The Old Man's Back Again (Dedicated To the Neo-Stalinist Regime)
not a fan of her singing style on this album, but the pianos and lyrics are the tops.
I am thankful this is on the list. I definitively now know what I do not like.
I appreciate the talent, the historical significance, and the uniqueness. I appreciated the little lessons at the beginning and the music is genuinely good. I'd rather listen to the Beatles.
Hell yeah, a swingin' good time!
great example of 60's psychedelia, would be perfect if not for a couple of filler songs.
I was onboard until the last song, why did they include "The Toonerville Trolley"?! Seriously, just listen to every song before that one and you'll be fine
If you ever wondered what The White Stripes or Jack White would sound like if they made music in the '60's, well here you go
"Mom, I want to listen to Kate Bush" "We have Kate Bush at home" Kate Bush at home:
Is this my type of music? No. Is this good music? Also, no. Am I glad I listened to it once in my life? Yes.
that was just plain fun!
i don't understand it, but it's a bop
Space guitars and space sax? Hell yeah!
This is good, but John Martyn does it better (e.g. Solid Air)
it's fine, has flashes of good.
Not sure why but it just didn't capture my attention.
great sax
this was nice
Not my cup of team, but the production on this record is fantastic.
there's too much honky tonk on this list
I've listened to enough honky tonk on this list to know it ain't for me.
it grew on me
how unexpectedly good was that? Good grooves, good lyrics, good singing.
it's different, but that's not enough to make it good. It seems like background music at a beach bar.
I'm over honky tonk
The lyrics are sublime and what make this a good album
Sometimes a 3 is decent, but neither good nor bad. sometimes it is good with flaws. This time, it is a 3 because it is interesting, inventive, and not boring. I am glad I heard it but would never seek it out again.
I wanted to hate it. I wanted to like it. I ended up neither hating nor liking it.
fun but showing its age
just not good
Hell yeah, this is the good stuff. Definitely glad I heard this. Poly Styrene rocks and that sax is great.
A freaking fun freakout. Love the sax and the drums.
there is far better southern rock your should listen to over this album
well, that was boring
This list has helped me learn that, while Elvis Costello is good, there is only so much I can take
I felt like I was stuck in an H&M in the early 2000's for hours
Sometimes, a 3 means an album is good/decent just not great. There may be good songs, but there may be some faults to the album that keep it back. Other times, a 3 means an album is neither good or bad, just mid. This is mid. All the songs just blend together, nothing stands out.
Not my taste, but there is definitely talent there.
one great song can't make up for the rest of the album being mediocre, at best.
interesting, and can appreciate it as a historical snapshot, but not for me.
if you ever wondered what it would sound like if Radiohead imitated Tom Waits, now you don't have to wonder any longer. A poor attempt at imitating both, not a good song on the album.
forgettable
great soul
to quote another reviewer: "Probably a 3 really, but fuck him"
It was fine
Is this an album I must have listened to before I die? No. Was this enjoyable? Also, no. Should you listen to this, even with the knowledge that this album was a pioneering metal album? Well, no. Should you listen to this even though the drummer and guitarists are genuinely talented, and their talents shine through in this bad album? Nah.
The first half of this album fucks. The second half of this album sucks...
oh hell yeah!
Most of the songs are perfect, but a few are ok.
well, this is a pleasant surprise. My expectations were low, but damn, did this far exceed my expectations!
it's OK but completely forgettable
This is good, Loaded is better
while it meanders a bit, there is some really good music in there
nothing great but nothing bad, they have better records than this.
Nothing great outside the singles
I didn't enjoy it but I want to drive a trans-am now.
it's paint by numbers rock and blues. Nothing wrong with it, but seems to lack soul.
"How do you sleep?" is the best song. Nice to hear George Harrison play the guitar on so much of the album. Otherwise, a bit bland. My least favorite of the early post-Beatles solo albums (compared to McCartney, Harrison, and Ringo). Lennon was not a bad lyricist or musician by any means, but he needed the others to really shine.
certainly one of the albums of all time
The Gin Blossoms without the alcohol abuse. Third Eye Blind without the meth. Not a bad thing, I enjoyed the 90s vibes but other bands did it better and should probably be on this list instead.
neither the best Dusty album nor the best version of many of the songs on this album.
it's fun, but not a cohesive album yet the songs sound similar and run together.
Great beats, great flows, great album. Knocked down 1 point because it is too long, and has too much filler.
A great treat to discover! Yes, sometimes the songs tend to go on long, but it is still a fantastic listen overall. Best songs are "We Will Not Be Lovers" and "Soon as I Get Home"
The first half is a combo of Electric Light Orchestra and Paul McCartney. If you're expecting disco, you'll be mistaken. The second half is a bit of a snoozer.
I wasn't digging this at first, not the kind of music I seek out or particularly enjoy. However, the longer the album went on, the more I found myself enjoying it. "Joy" is the best song on the album.
honestly do not know how to rate this album. Is it good? Is it bad? It is certainly an album. I know I was entirely too sober to listen to it.
