Kero Kero Bonito (KKB) are a British indie pop band formed in London in 2011. The band consists of vocalist Sarah Midori Perry and producers and multi-instrumentalists Gus Lobban and Jamie Bulled. Their musical style has been variously described as indie pop, alternative pop, electropop, dance-rock, hyperpop, and bubblegum pop. The band's earlier work was influenced by J-pop such as Kyary Pamyu Pamyu, as well as dancehall, and video game music; while their 2018 EP TOTEP and second studio album Time 'n' Place was influenced by indie rock contemporaries such as Mount Eerie and My Bloody Valentine. Perry, who is of mixed Japanese and British ancestry, sings and raps in both Japanese and English.

Album #39 (1001 challenge extended): "Civilisation" by Kero Kero Bonito (2021) "Civilisation" is a compilation of EP's "Civilisation I" and "Civilisation II" by British indie pop band Kero Kero Bonito. Indie pop, alternative pop, electeopop, dance-rock, hyperpop, bubblegum pop, future pop, glitch pop and art pop are the Wiki-listed genres. The bandmembers included Gus Lobban (production, drums, keyboards, backing vocals), Jamie Bulled (production, keyboards, bass) and Sarah Midori Perry (Sarah Bonito) (lead vocals, keyboards). "Battle Lines" opens the album. Electronic beats. Glimmering 80's-sounding synths. Perry with layered vocals. A weirdness to the synths makes this sound rather fresh. The only single from the first EP "When the Fires Come" is slower. A piano and a whistle-sounding flute melody. Soothing, dreamy and about environmental collapse. "The Princess and the Click" is upbeat and poppy. A quirky glossy synth and electronic beats. The lead vocals are sometimes through a vocoder; I'm not a fan. A start-stop type of song and a nice melody. 80's-sounding synths. Electronic beats. The overall mood is dreamy, quirky, poppy and sometimes dance pop. Enhanced vocals are supplemented with the music. As mentioned, there's a weirdness to the synth sound that I quite liked and made this unique. Overall, this was a decent listen and at seven songs and 27 minutes flies by quickly. 3.5 out 5
Civilisation is an indie pop album by Kero Kero Bonito. Or to be more precise a compilation of the two EP's Civilisation I and Civilisation II. The idea of the band sounds solid, combining indie j-pop with electronica. This album also starts fantastic with "Battle Lines". Too bad the other songs are less up-tempo and also not as good.
Civilisation I or Civilisation II or both? The album cover is like "I" but the date is for "II". They were EPs so I listened to both as one album. Pretty good sound. Definitely listenable and I'd be happy to heard it again. 3.5
Heard of this band but never listened. I dug it. Should check out more of their work. My personal rating: 4/5 My rating relative to the list: 4/5 Should this have been included on the original list? No.

I like this more than I was expecting to. Upbeat, catchy and fun. Also, short and to the point. 4 stars.
Cool to see some Kero Kero Bonito on here. Personally would have gone for "Time 'n' Place" instead but it's your pick not mine. Something about their mix of indie pop, noise rock, and that chiptuney sound, or however you'd even classify their music, scratches some secret hidden part of my brain. It's very good comfort music. Makes me feel nice and I like that. Really no deeper analysis needed. 4/5.
Meh. I would call the genre boring 80's. Gets a star for being upbeat. It is fine but definitely background music, if you know what I mean. I just had The Birthday Massacre. And I guess this sharer has yet another submission after this. I'm not sure how I feel about someone submitting 3 albums tbh.
Interesting, gave me almost a Stereolab groove if the tended more to the rock side rather than electronica. The vocals got a little monotonous for me at length. I'd be interested to see where they've gone with this sound.
Not the KKB EP I expected to see on the list, but an appreciated add nonetheless. I was a little disappointed when this one came out following the smashing shoegaze meets twee era of the band, yet this fuller electronica sound ended up being a fun return to Intro Bonito territory. A bit of personality is lost in the straightforward lyricism compared to earlier efforts and I’m not sure all the elements work, but still a fun listen no matter how you slice it. Hope these guys are still kicking, this was the last thing they put out and it’s been a long 5 years since then :/

It is too recent, too short, and too generic for a basis for an opinion. It did not offend me.
I used to watch this cartoon after school when I was 11... cool, cool. 4/10 2 stars IMO: Belonged in the book? No.
Pleasant listen, but I think a bit too generic to have been released in 2021
If I didn't have special add-on filters for Spotify to block AI artists, I would have sworn this was AI. Definitely falls into the dislike listen category. Not enough to hate listen, as it's over way too quickly.
