I probably could die without having had listened to this. I can appreciate the experimental hip hop sound, but it's kind of all over the place

Jerry Lee Lewis
1/5
Can't overlook the fact that this dude was all kinds of fucked up
6 likes
Portishead
4/5
Such a cool and unique sound, so much anguish. Every song can be interpreted differently by everyone. There are some very sweet moments like Deep Water. Singing isn't the most controlled, but contributes to their authenticity

Buzzcocks
5/5
This band sounds like I would've heard one of their songs in School of Rock as a 3rd grader and then make them my whole personality.

Beck
2/5
too melancholy for me. every song sounds the same. 2 stars
Bob Dylan
3/5
more blues-y than his earlier albums. His voice has definitely improved. The songs are good and I can appreciate the writing, but none of these are catchy enough to make me want to listen again
U2 always reminds me of father. Really appealing songs
The Monkees
4/5
before listening, I predicted how they would sound. I was right haha. The more folky songs are so good. Forget that Girl is so nice!
Patti Smith
4/5
Such raw emotion. I love her
Kendrick Lamar
3/5
This was pretty good, but I don't listen to rap a whole lot so probably will not come back to this

4/5
Lots of low reviews for Suede but my emo/new wave heart likes them a lot. Nice to listen and sing along to on long drives at night. I do think the Dog Man Star album is better.
Talking Heads
3/5
I got excited for this album since I love new wave. cool experimental sound
N.W.A.
4/5
k.d. lang
2/5
she has a really beautiful voice, but will probably not come back to this. This is very much something my parents would have listened to in the car when we were young
Iron Butterfly
1/5
meh
Stevie Wonder
3/5
Super pleasant listen! I don't think anyone can dislike Stevie Wonder. It's good background music. But the album is soooooo long, I wouldn't be able to listen without doing something busy or else I would get bored.
John Cale
3/5
Hanky Panky Nohow?! masterpiece haha. This is actually a very pleasant listen while working
Motörhead
3/5
Carole King
4/5
Wow, I've heard so many of her songs in shows and movies and never knew they were all by Carole King - a name I don't think I have heard of...embarrassingly showing how young and ignorant I am
Nick Drake
3/5
this is really deep. But looking at the cover art, I thought this would be a rock album and was kind of let down.
Neil Young
1/5
I don't really like this
Frank Black
3/5
this is like, so bad that it's so good. It's a grungy mess but so fun to listen to
Supergrass
4/5
Ah yes, my vibe of alt rock. This is so fun!! I knew the original band of "Alright" was an alt rock band, but didn't know it was them! While these songs are all great, none of them stood out to me.
Tom Waits
4/5
"He sounds like a living cigarette but its pretty good." I like this a lot, it's super unique
R.E.M.
1/5
Boring. I saw that this was alt rock and got excited, but I actually do not like their style. I had no idea Everybody Hurts was by them

cool and sultry, but the backstory....yikes
Rod Stewart

The Undertones
3/5
cool upbeat punk album, but got a bit boring because all the songs sounded the same.
Santana
4/5
so groovy!
Portishead
4/5
Such a cool and unique sound, so much anguish. Every song can be interpreted differently by everyone. There are some very sweet moments like Deep Water. Singing isn't the most controlled, but contributes to their authenticity
Gene Clark
5/5
This was actually quite a good listen! I can't believe it was a flop when it was released.
Beth Orton
2/5
She has a really beautiful voice, but I have never liked this genre of music because it reminds me of being one of the last kids to be dropped off by the afterschool bus everyday - something that I always hated. It was always dark and quiet with this type of music playing.
Neneh Cherry
4/5
Buffalo stance...wow so good. Such a fun vibe, this chick can rap and her confidence oozes.
The White Stripes
5/5
The Flaming Lips
5/5
How is this only from 2002?! This album is so cool. psychedelic, indie, odyssey, experimental fusion. "Do You Realize" was the only song I really knew from them and it's so cool to hear how it fit into the rest of the album.
Lenny Kravitz
3/5
such a groovy one-man show. Didn't realize how much softer he was earlier on. Will admit though, none of these songs really stood out to me
Steve Winwood
2/5
James Brown
4/5
Pearl Jam
3/5
Grunge is always cool. For some reason, I didn't think Pearl Jam went this hard. It's pretty good, I can imagine hearing this album at like a basement party or something
Röyksopp
2/5
Not very memorable for me. The songs were not bad and super chill, but I will probably not listen again
Funkadelic
4/5
So cool! It's funk/rock/metal mush. You can just tell that this album breaks boundaries.
Bob Marley & The Wailers
3/5
Very chill. Not my usual go-to for listening though
Neu!
3/5
Most of this album is much more soothing than I was expecting haha. Probably will not listen again.
XTC
5/5
Mermaid Smiled is so good. Dear God is so great. Every song is different and kept the whole album very enjoyable to listen to
Bobby Womack
4/5
Bobby is quite the entertainer! Every song was great. Not giving it 5 stars only because I probably will not come back to listen again
The Disposable Heroes Of Hiphoprisy
2/5
Political hip hop is not really my jam. Spoken word at an open mic night - sure.
Green Day
5/5
Grew up listening to Green Day, needed to be a 5
The The
4/5
Great new wave all throughout, and you can definitely hear the experimental aspects. Being a huge synth pop/ new wave fan, I can't believe I have never heard of The The...maybe I am not as big of a fan as I thought I was
Beach House
5/5
I love listening to this kind of music while doing other things, like designing or reorganizing my home. It inspires me.
Grandmaster Flash & The Furious Five
4/5
In college I wrote a paper about The Message. It made me appreciate conscious hip hop
Ryan Adams
2/5
I am not much a fan of alternative country. It reminds me too much of being on the school bus after school - which I hated.
Ride
4/5
I was expecting nothing and was pleasantly surprised. This album is a nice listen while I am working on a rainy day, but I probably will not come back to it again
Pink Floyd
5/5
Woah. I was not expecting to really love this. This album is beautiful.

3/5
A classic, but not something that I would normally turn to.
Mylo
2/5
I had high hopes for this but found it kind of boring
Ali Farka Touré
4/5
Such a cool and interesting listen!
Richard Thompson
3/5
Nice sleepy folk album. Something I'd listen to on a rainy day while cleaning or something
The Auteurs
3/5
Although a god listen, I was slightly disappointed. I had never heard of this album so I was expecting something more 80s, and not 90s alt rock.
Faith No More
4/5
Very surprised this came out in the 80s. You can definitely hear their influence on future bands, as it sounds like the predecessor to nu meta and other sub genres. The instrumentals are awesome, not a fan of the vocals.
Lou Reed
5/5
This album is so lovely
Sugar
3/5
This is so 90's haha. I feel like I should be hearing this as an angsty teen movie soundtrack.
Mike Ladd
1/5
I probably could die without having had listened to this. I can appreciate the experimental hip hop sound, but it's kind of all over the place
Tom Waits
3/5

5/5

4/5
This must have been SO much fun to see live!
Neil Young
5/5
Green Day
5/5
My music roots trace back to pop punk. This just has to be a 5
Dire Straits
3/5
New Order
5/5
Good album. The incorporation of acid house and dance beats definitely leads into the 90's club scene
The Offspring
4/5
I use to listen to some of their top songs all the time, but am not a huge fan of this album as a whole. Come Out and Play and Self Esteem are awesome, but all the other songs kind of sound the same.
The Doors
4/5
Cool mash of blues and psych rock
Tears For Fears
5/5
I was SO happy to see this album pop up. IT'S SO GOOD!!
Happy Mondays
3/5
I love 80's music....but I did not like this very much.
Aerosmith
3/5
Good album, but doesn't sound different than other big hard rock bands of the time tbh
Talvin Singh
1/5
The story behind the album creation is awesome, but this is so weird. Way too experimental to actually sit and enjoy.
Aretha Franklin
5/5
I mean c'mon....listen to that wondrous voice
Jamiroquai
2/5
The tunes themselves are not bad, but like someone else commented, there definitely is a fine line between appreciation and appropriation.
The Stone Roses
5/5
Oh yesssss, my kind of music. So Moody. Makes me feel alive.
Kraftwerk
1/5
too robotic for my liking
The Human League
3/5
Aside from Don't You Want Me, none of the songs really caught my attention.

A couple good tracks, but all songs have the same type of flow - doesn't keep me interested for long
Sarah Vaughan
4/5
Someone else described this album as the warmest blanket on the coldest day, and I really felt that
Tricky
1/5
Not for me. I felt very uneasy listening to this...as if impending doom was upon us so we are all killing each other.
Scott Walker
3/5
Buzzcocks
5/5
This band sounds like I would've heard one of their songs in School of Rock as a 3rd grader and then make them my whole personality.

4/5
Very haunting
Blondie
5/5
Lots of well known bops
Randy Newman
3/5

10cc
3/5
Tito Puente
3/5
All the tracks kinda blur into one, but this was fun! If it were playing at a party I would want to get up shake my hips
Orbital
3/5
I was going to give this a 1, but so many reviews say that these sounds were so new and amazing at the time of its release - something I didn't think about.
The Specials
3/5
First song I thought was very meh, but the more I listened, the more enjoyable it became
ABBA
5/5
I think I only knew ABBA's hits, so I thought of them as super poppy, sing-along band, but still very talented. This was unexpected and such an enjoyable listen.
Supertramp
4/5
Good listen!
Iggy Pop
4/5
spoopy music
Dusty Springfield
5/5
Joni Mitchell
1/5
Man this is boring. Once again, this reminds me of the music I would hear on the after-school bus, an experience that I hated

Cream
4/5
Elton John
3/5
This was a very nice listen, but kind of boring
Kate Bush
5/5
This is such a fun listen! Watching the music videos definitely helped make the experience more enjoyable because you can see her weirdness and eclectic style come out. Houdini is the pop version of Western Emo haha
Chicago
3/5
Michael Jackson
4/5
There are a decent number of hits on this album
LCD Soundsystem
5/5

Violent Femmes
5/5
ohhh folk-punk, I like
Joy Division
5/5
I knew this album was influential but this is actually my first time listening. New Order is one of my favorite new wave bands, and it's mind-blowing to learn that New Order was formed by the rest of the members of Joy Division
Minor Threat
4/5
Solid hardcore punk. You can feel their youth frustration. Love the cover art and how short the album is
Steely Dan
3/5
This album was an easy listen, nothing to complain about
Steely Dan
2/5
Idk, with cover art like this, I would expect to listen to something interesting
Radiohead
5/5
There are times when I feel really sad and down, not for any particular reason, but simply because of how difficult the human experience is. This album fully encapsulates those feelings.
Manic Street Preachers
5/5
I can't believe I have never listened to Manic Street Preachers before!!! The first song had me hooked. The strings throughout are so good
Dizzee Rascal
2/5
Rap isn't my favorite, and this album was kinda weird. But pretty impressive that we was only 16 at the time.
Hüsker Dü
2/5
I can definitely hear their influence on other bands. But I didn't like this very much
The Kinks
3/5
Solid album! Although none of the songs were very memorable, it was a good listen.
Ray Charles
3/5
Beautiful songs
The La's
3/5
I had high hopes for this album. But it was fairly lackluster
Big Black
2/5
too abrasive for my liking
The Byrds
4/5
Various Artists
5/5
The Waterboys
3/5
Nice Irish folk/rock. Currently watching The Witcher, so I've got this theme going on in my life right now lol.
Neil Young & Crazy Horse
1/5
I'm starting to think Neil Young is highly overrated....He's all over the place - everything is hit or miss, and this one is a miss for me
Barry Adamson
3/5

OutKast
5/5
Outkast RULES

2/5
This is very telling of my age...but I did not know Pink Floyd started out as a psychedelic group before evolving into progressive rock. I enjoy the latter more.

5/5
Staple indie from my formative years.
Cue Schmidt's finger snaps: "Let's start an Arcade Fire"
Sam Cooke
4/5
Elvis Costello & The Attractions
4/5
This was a fun listen. None of the songs stood out to me, but none of them were uninteresting

The Cardigans
4/5

I was expecting disco, so when the first track played I was like "oh, very cool, they are starting out slow and going to speed up." When it didn't speed up I was like wtf, this is so boring. But then started enjoying it again after realizing just how versatile they are.
Dennis Wilson

Booker T. & The MG's
5/5
Is it just me or is one of the tunes in Nacho Libre?!?! THE Nacho Libre, pure Cinematic Gold.

I enjoy heavier music and it's not because I'm ignoring personal problems or don't have a healthy mindset. It's the same way anyone resonates with the music that they like; It makes you feel something. I'm a casual slipknot listener, but I know they changed the lives of many people during our formative years when I was growing up. They're one of many bands that made heavier music accessible to so many.
