Dire Straits
Dire StraitsGreat album, listened through again a second time. Tight sound for a first album and lots of songs I already knew. Really enjoyed and would listen again 8/10
Great album, listened through again a second time. Tight sound for a first album and lots of songs I already knew. Really enjoyed and would listen again 8/10
60s sound, did not enjoy and didn’t feel the need to listen to again like I did with other albums. Glad I listened as it’s an artist I haven’t listened to before but won’t be adding them to my to listen list 5/10
Extremely enjoyable to listen to, perfect for focusing and grooving. Had an immediate 2nd listen and will listen again later as well. Enjoyed the big band sound with the Afro-Cuban rhythms 8/10
Didn’t enjoy much, not as developed as other albums so far. Didn’t want to listen again. While I lie the singles, the album together didn’t do it for me 5/10
Always a banger. Instant transport to 1996 8.5/10
Pure perfection. Could listen all day 9.5/10
Love the 80s sound but this album didn’t do it for me. I will need to relisten to see if this album improves. Let’s hope so! 3/10
Ok, didn’t keep my attention. Will try to listen to again but not feeling interested in it 4/10
Lush and ethereal, transports me back to the 90s. Absolutely will listen again 8/10
Good, solid album with some sleepers I had forgotten about. So much nostalgia for the 90s here, definitely an album that defined a generation 7/10
Best massive rock album from the era! Very time I listen to it I just get so sucked in and can’t concentrate on anything else 9/10
Regae sounds from The 80s. I wonder if they were first with this sound or came out of the zeitgeist with the other same sounds from the uk at the time 5/10
Decent sound, see building blocks for future folk groups and some blues guitar. 5/10
I do t think this is his best album, I have enjoyed other of his solo albums more. Songs became more generic as the album goes along and I just wanted to swap to Lazaretto 5/10
Decent album and definitely a change from previous sounds I’ve heard from them. Enjoyable and groovy 6/10
Great album and sound. Very heavy on the synth but definitely make the sound one of their own 7/10
Sounds same same through the album. This may be one that needs multiple listens but none of the songs really grabbed me and made me interested 4/10
Beautiful, ethereal, lush. Amazing lyrics that are pure poetry. Forces you to sit and listen and cry cathartically. 9/10
Jazzy but folky and ambient at times. A unique album that definitely needs multiple listens 7/10
Good live album, enjoyed the r and b. Some sections blended into one another rather than having a distinct journey 6/10
Very shoegaze feel, melodic and introspective. I think it’s an Blum for when you are in the mood for that type of sound 6/10
Get up and go album but with some surprisingly tender moments. Good to relisten after such a long time 7/10
Lush and unique, always a pleasure to listen to this album
Tried so hard to get into this album, especially as I have enjoyed their more recent work. Just fell flat and I couldn’t tell you this would be an album worth listening to again 3/10
I’ve tried really hard to enjoy Prince. He is a massive guitar talent and writes good songs but I just can’t get into most of his albums 5/10
Great album, so pleased when it came up! Still sounds fresh and current
Found it a bit of a whine fest. Not really interested in listening to again. Very meh 3/10
Striking voice, some good grooves. Definitely worth a relisten 7/10
I am finding out I am not a fan of 60s American/folk/county music. I feel. No need to keep listening and forcing myself through was a chore. 2/10
Wonderful jazz esque instrumental album. Crazy, cool and just right when I listened. Discovering that I have enjoyed all the instrumental albums so far 8/10
Surprisingly good and really enjoyed. Love the minor Melodie’s throughout and realised on of my fav songs is on the album 8/10
Like a psychedelic garden party where the gnomes start jamming and then the mad hatter takes you on a tour of buckingham palace. Ridiculously English folky. 7/10
I just can’t do it. I’ve tried over and over to like Spirit and this is me giving up. I love art rock, I love guitars but it is always a constant mishmash going everywhere with no cohesion. It’s over. I vacantly confidently say I don’t like Spirit now. 2/10
Nothing too special. Good harmonies and guitar but feels meh. Maybe I’m over 60s ish folk rock 5/10
Those flutes! Those damn flute sounds that is the oxygen to any Jethro Tull album. They haunt my dreams. 6/10
Music is lovely and ethereal and all musical aspects I really enjoyed. EXCEPT I couldn’t get into Cohen’s spoken word attempt. I may be influenced by snick Cave’s spoken word album but I found Cohen’s voice distracting and disjointed as opposed to blending into a musical/spoken word piece. Wanted to enjoy this a lot more 4/10
R & B old school, my preferred form. Great album with no songs to be skipped. Can be same same at times 7/10
Nothing spectacular and wouldn’t listen again. No sound or lyric grabbed my attention and felt pretty same same 3/10
SABOTAGE!!!!!!!!! 9/10
It’s Green Day. It’s punk. I want I enjoy this more but men doing punk just isn’t my thing 5/10
British reggae funk, pioneer band for the period. Enjoyable and funky 6/10
It’s Van Halen. Classic guitar riffs and synth. I want to love them and this album but it’s enjoyable but not essential. 7/10
Classic psychedelic rock but also very one dimensional for my liking 5/10
Decent R and B Enjoyable but don’t feel the need to listen again 6/10
Haunting, melodic and utterly transcendent. Although, would it be sacrilegious to say it reminds me of build mode in the original Sims game? 8/10
Beautiful chords and immense lyrics. Love the rock tone tempered with that voice 7/10
How on earth have I heard so many song off this album and not know this artist? Fantastic grooves, loved listening, will be playing again 8/10
Clean rock where you can see the beginnings of the QotSa sound. Unrefined to their late sounds but still enjoyable 7/10
Traditional Dusty. Enjoyable but not something I would call exceptional. Not sure if I would listen again 5/10
I have to state outright I dislike Bob Dylan music. But, I was cautiously optimistic with the first two songs as they were quite reasonable. Then the full Dylan whine kicked in and now I’m in music hell trying to make it through this album 1.5/10
Well, that was……..interesting. Great voice but the whole album felt like a theatre person trying to sing their favourite songs their way. Extremely difficult to enjoy 2/10
Fish cakes! Fish cakes! Fish cakes! 7/10
Not my favourite Radiohead album but love many songs on this album 7/10
Enjoyable but doesn’t evoke the same emotion as their other albums 7/10
Much better than expected! I really enjoyed this listen and will definitely be listening again 7/10
90 minutes?!?!? There is absolutely no justification for the length of this album and really needs to go with the less is more approach. Generic country rock in so many songs, drowning out the decent ones 3/10
Interesting that this is not on Spotify! Hard to rate when you are not able to listen to the album in full but enjoyed the funk/prog/rock sound as beats. Would have been interesting to see how they evolved as a band 5/10
Good to revisit. Love Michelle, best song on the album 8/10
Still an amazing album. Rate this as probably their best 9/10
Very lyrical and melodic. Wanted more of those guitar licks though! 7/10
I just can’t. I can’t listen to Randy Newman’s voice. I can see how the songs themselves are good but I hear him and nothing but Toy Story fills my mind 3/10
First hip hop album I’ve listened all the way through. Great for working and focusing and was a great experience 8/10
Still an amazing album and just as exciting to listen to now as it was when I brought it on its release in the 90s
Brings back memories of the late 90s. I prefer the old Beck to the new Beck 6/10
Feels of it’s time but enjoyable! Unexpected rock always appreciated 6/10
Unexpectedly enjoyable, very sit and listen on a lazy Sunday afternoon
Ethereal and groovy, always a joy listening to this album.
Brit pop that goes a bit punk at times. Big songs from the 90’s, an enjoyable listen
Tried really hard but just could not get into it. I like heavy rock but this probably too metal for me to fully enjoy 4/10
Not my favourite talking heads album, missing that more intense aspects rather the more dreamy a d abstract aspect this is 6/10
First time listening to these songs as an album. Smooth transitions 7/10
How long does this album need to be? I don’t know if it’s of its time but seems less refined compared to other hip hop albums on this list so far 4/10
Smooth and easy. Reminds me of a polished Rodriguez 7/10
Decent 70s rock but not standing out 5/10
Avant garde was invented for this concept of an album. I’m still think ‘wot’ after listening. Sound engineering is amazing 7/10
Saxophone central! Groovy, mellow and easy 8/10
Classic and always an enjoyable listen 7/10
Pure perfection and genius. Still one of my favourite albums of all time 10/10
Oh god do I really have to listen to morrissey, one of the most insufferable people around? This may be a good album but the whole time I’m listening I cant remove the morrissey from the equation. 5/10
Always a good album to return to, love the start of the jazz influence starting here. 8/10
As an album I found the sound became bland and same same. I think they are best listened to by song
Classic for a reason. Huge juxtaposition between songs such as within you and she’s leaving home but somehow it works 8/10
Might be a seminal album for the funk genre but it felt kind of meh listening, like I’ve heard it all before. Also a little cringe, especially with family business 5/10
