The World is a Ghetto
WarIt was a really great funk album. Perfect song as I walk around and observe city living - the good, the bad, the ugly
It was a really great funk album. Perfect song as I walk around and observe city living - the good, the bad, the ugly
It was better than I thought. Sometimes the simplicity in the music just makes you feel good and it made the vocals stronger
This would be my first album - my mom always used to make me listen to Prince to the point I hated it growing up. I started to appreciate it when I got older and can actually listen to it on my own. Every song feels pretty epic with so much going on. Liked Songs - Let's Go Crazy, The Beautiful Ones, Darling Nikki, Baby I'm a Star. 9/10
It was super pop-y but I enjoyed it. It was good for a relaxed jog.
It sounded like a space epic at times which I liked.
Some of these covers are super vanilla and reveal the Caucasian nature of Willie Nelson. As long as there wasn’t a soul cover that is much better, I liked the song.
It def had that 80s ambient music going for it. Good background music for a walk
Good music for the wannabe hustler in me. It makes me appreciate old hip hop where we had different flows and sounds vs the same of today.
Really insane guitar solos during certain songs. I thought this was going to be a country album
I liked the album. It felt like a good alt rock album with a strong beat and good voice.
Def a good Halloween album and feels spooky but still has a clear rhythm and tone. I enjoyed it.
I thought it was good. Some of the guitar riffs were really entertaining. Not 100% sure if I like the lead singers voice, but I did in some of the songs.
It sounds like it was the creator of the original cell phone ringtones. It's like hearing the original cuts and what didn't make it on the floor.
It was a really great country funk album. I even enjoyed the cover they included of a Motown great.
Really enjoyed it. Didn’t realize it would be so funky
It was a really great funk album. Perfect song as I walk around and observe city living - the good, the bad, the ugly
Reminds me of when hip hop and rap had different flows and raps vs all mumble raps. Foundation of east coast rap - kung fu references, motivational speech and reminders of bitches aint shit
It was a chill hippie album.
Reminds me of just sitting and playing tony hawk just sitting and vibing off the punk energy trying to land a 900
I liked it. Really cool guitar riffs and stuff.
Man each song is literally a full blown concert. It’s kinda crazy but incredible too where you can just sit and literally feel like you're in a full jazz club session. I liked the idea of it more than the actual jazz music.
Really enjoyed this album. It was like pop house with some R&B roots.
It was a cool, ambient record. Good for a late night drive with Dylan
It was like the moody punk rock of the 80s. There were a couple of good guitar riffs sprinkled in there.
It was great country ballads. It reminded me of the righteous gemstones. I just like their use of lyrics and have that vagabond lifestyle I yearn for.
Great album. Could be the album for incels 20 years in advance. Just great songs
It was better than I thought. Sometimes the simplicity in the music just makes you feel good and it made the vocals stronger
I guess I do like the trashy type of pop rock. It reminds me of some broadway shows like Little Shop of Horrors where it feels a bit cheesy music
It felt like a fall music soundtrack. There weren’t many songs that stood out from a sonic variety but it was just a chill album that I would include as ambient music
I liked it. I feel like I don’t know who came first but def heard some Queen influences. It was a good hooky space opera rock album I think
Im so surprised I love this album but it literally has everything the commercial pop hits you hear ad naseum, heartfelt songs, guitar riffs and good lyrics. I can finally understand the Beatles hype with this album.
It was a moody indie album that still felt too cool to actually be upfront with its feelings and used OK stories instead
I really loved this album. Each song was a vibe.
The last two songs pretty much redeemed the whole album. It makes me think of the possibility if it was a bit more rhythmic vs experimental.
This is what happens when white people are left to their own devices and try to come up with music
It’s old white mans spoken word. It’s such a good soundtrack if you’re coming home from the factory to only go home surrounded by fighting and arguments, you eat the same bland meal and you have your one beer to fight the depression and after doing the usual you hop in bed your wife gently holding you but your lying on your back staring at the ceiling wondering to yourself what have I done, is this it? This is the soundtrack for whatever that is.
It’s like the Gorillaz if they went the indie rock/folk band rock.
It felt off rhythm sometimes with talking with music in the background vs. singing and sometimes I actually like it because it felt different but sometimes I just some regular on rhythm singing.
I liked it. Reminded me of old school funk rap where it had hints of black nationalism and just enough positive affirmations. Also helps the beats change through the album
It was a pretty good album. Like the guitar riffs
I really liked it. It’s crazy how it’s made this decade but has a 70s type of feel.
I could hear some of the Strokes within this album. A nice punk rock album but didn't really stand out to me.
I love a good generic 80s pop album it’s generic and such a light lift to listen to
It was cool. Her voice is def eerie but I liked some of the songs . Nothing life changing.
It personifies the struggles of an early 2000s black woman - being independent but still looking for a daddy while still hating on his other woman. I was debating 3 or 4 but then the dangerously in love put it over the edge and the shade of the last song to the two former members of Destinys Child is amazing and makes me laugh.
It feels like he would be in a random park making up these songs while watching strangers or picking out random autobiographies at the library. It felt comforting like a weighted blanket.
Loved this album. It makes me want to have a powder blue church suit with a handkerchief waving in the air, wiping off my face as I listen to the gospel of love and heartbreak. This gurl can sannnngggg
I love me some African funk. Feels like a soundtrack to an 80s cop movie including high speed chase scene - song 1, cop walking into seedy bar - song 2, and stake out - song 3. 4/5
It was a good rock album. I can’t say anything stands out about this one but I enjoyed it.
I thought it was going to be more of a punk album with the name like the kinks but it was really nice guitars and melodies. I enjoyed it
This album was so good. I knew from the first song Genesis it was going to be a great album. It made something as mundane as a morning stroll with my daughter an epic adventure. The timing was perfection as I was pushing the kid in the stroller up the hill and stress came on it felt like Sisyphus pushing the rock up the hill (thank you hades the game for that reminder). Can’t rate highly enough
Dam. What an emotional punch in the gut. I always thought Nina Simone was singing about the plight of black woman which I wasn’t ready for but this album weaved it into an album and the intensity of love and loss. I got teary eyed just listening to her sing that’s all I ask as a woman who was ready to give up everything at a moments notice if a guy just gives her attention. Loved this album and made me realize I can appreciate albums with emotional depth.
It was a nice Little Rock album and I appreciate the use of the saxophone in the songs and solos.
It reminds me of early trap music where the beats were basic but the energy just felt different. It makes me want to watch top boy to see what this London trap is all about.
There’s a certain levity I appreciate with this album compared to bitches brew. I really like this jazz album. Makes me think of a smoke filled jazz club getting drunk and listening throughout the night even with a little dancing. I’m not the biggest jazz guy but I get it with this album.
It reminds me of the CW superhero shows where either the main hero goes through his "dark side" phase when its a bit more emo, a bit more aggressive but its ok or where they have an argument at homecoming/prom/winter formal.
You can definitely tell this band was made by guitarists. I recently watched Niles Rodger’s tiny desk concert and didn’t realize he produced so much music. This was a good disco guitar album and you can feel the coked out dancing of the people listening to the same chorus for 1 minute straight. Def wish to be this level on guitar or bass.
I kept debating whether it was a 4 or a 5 but bumped it up to 5 because it was the absolute right soundtrack for the mood I was in. It was cloudy with sprinkling rain and I’m walking Dylan after she’s been in a fussy mood. It just felt like a day where I really hated the surburban life and felt like I got tricked into it.
I tried to listen as unbiased as possible even though I hated Marvin Gaye because my mom would play it over and over and over and over again. I really enjoyed the album it feels like a timeless album of being a black man in the city. My only knock is the first six songs sound literally like one extended song for better or for worse
I loved this album. Makes me wanna be on a stakeout or drop kick a jive turkey. I loved the song no thing on me (cocaine song) that just felt like black boy you with cocaine. In the words of Rick James cocaine is one hell of a drug
The first four songs are straight head bangers, the next few start to feel like the same and I was ready to rate this a 4 and then nothing else matters provides a complete 180 and then back to head bangers.
I was honestly debating whether it’s a 3 or 4. It starts off pretty weak to me and didn’t have that signature Queen sound until you get Ogre battle and it’s like OK they definitely switched to a higher gear. All the songs after Ogre battle redeemed this album and bumped it up a star. Except White Queen I liked that one.
Judy blue eyes Is that Americana rock that reminded me that everything has changed now since I have a kid and it will never be the same. I liked the album it does have me reflective with teach the children and the relationship with my mom but I think after a while it feels kinda boring. Could be for a road trip when you want to zone out and be left for your thoughts
I liked it. Good female led pop rock group where the melodies are good enough to tap your feet to
Really good album, great guitar playing and loved the energy you get from the audience. An amazing 30
Good soul/funk/gospel album. As I’m up late hearing my literal baby crying for the third hour thinking about I wish I was lonely while listening to you think you’re lonely now. Great break up album
Driving to the valley during sunset it felt like a good city album. I miss old producer Kanye who was the sample king that made unique beats and rhythms. Common was great too and felt like a reflection of Chicago culture and all.
Really enjoyed it. It’s like the perfect cooking album and even have some love songs like Buono Sera that makes me imagine me and Cela on the Italian riveria.
I thought it was pretty good. Lyrics are honestly better than some of the songs. The 2nd half of the album just sounded too similar from song to song to get me excited.
Loved this album! From the jump it’s an immediate energy booster as I share all the pain, anger and just general head banging of this album. It felt like the perfect album as I navigate my kids temper tantrum for the 42663636363 time and feel myself slowly turning insane like the shining
