Amnesiac by Radiohead
Jan 10 2024

A lot of experimental tracks, doesn't seem to have any noticeably consistent theme or flow. As much as I like being pretentious and enjoying pretentious music, I can't back this album as a "oh you should totally listen to this, but you might not get it" to friends. Maybe I can be pretentious by being too good for this album. I do not understand how 'Pyramid Song' is the most popular on this album, was it used in a movie or something? 'You And Whose Army' and ' Life in a Glasshouse' were good, slower songs that I could see throwing into my mega-playlist and enjoying when they show up, if only to be able to keep saying "Yeah, I listen to Radiohead". 2/5 or 55/100

Fear Of A Black Planet by Public Enemy
Jan 11 2024

Solid, exactly the kind of tracks you want out of a 90's rap album, including a song raggin on the police. Got a little weaker later in the album, but still had the right tempo, beats, and attitude. This white boy says "Yes!" 4/5 or 84/100

Green by R.E.M.
Jan 12 2024

Nothing stands out very much with this album, and while I can appreciate it probably was potentially inspirational to the future of alt-rock music, it seems so bland and non-provoking that I would not listen to it again, and will likely not think of it again. 1/5 or 21/100.

Ill Communication by Beastie Boys
Jan 13 2024

I love the Beastie Boys, and I know I love the songs in this album, but I had never actually sat and listened through the album fully. I'm so glad I did, and I can have an even greater appreciation for one of my favorite groups of artists. Sabotage really can't be beat, and there are still a handful of songs in here that will make you feel just as cool in so many ways. 5/5 or 94/100

xx by The xx
Jan 14 2024

Very milquetoast album, nothing that sounded bad but played it way too safe and didn’t do anything interesting.

Nevermind by Nirvana
Jan 15 2024

Love this album, love Nirvana, my only issue with this album is a lot of the songs sound the same and don’t have a lot of variatio. That said, they’re still good songs and I really appreciate this album for what it is. 4/5 or 81/100

Yeezus by Kanye West
Jan 17 2024

One of Kanye's most experimental albums, and it was a great attempt at adding in a distorted, grungy attitude to his typical work. Definitely not the Kanye albums I love ("I miss the old Kanye") but something that is different and fun. 4/5 or 85/100

Porcupine by Echo And The Bunnymen
Jan 18 2024

Nothing that stands out, but nothing that offends. I guess when you have 1001 albums, you'll have some that just seem very bland. Maybe there's more behind this that I don't know, but my ears just tell me it's an okay album that I won't be revisiting. Just below a 50%, because it's just nothing in it that makes me think "this is just maybe good", rather that it is not even "okay". 2/5 or 46/100.

Sheet Music by 10cc
Jan 19 2024

Did not have high expectations for this album considering all of the mid-tier 60/70/80s music that I have experienced so far in this list. What started as a pleasant surprise lead to me discovering what seems to be a hidden gem. Baron Samedi and Oh Effendi aren't just fun song titles to say, but sound like they should be classics you hear on throwback radio daily. Wish every album on the list was this surprisingly satifsying. 4/5 or 86/100

Smash by The Offspring
Jan 20 2024

Solid album with some punk rock vibes, was really thrown off by the ska vibe of "What Happened to You" interrupting the fast pasted riffs and strums of the rest of the song. There are definitely better songs to rock out to, but I definitely would have had a couple of these songs strewn amongst songs for my teen angst. Album cover is very cool, as well. 3/5 or 71/100

Van Halen by Van Halen
Jan 22 2024

It's Van Halen, who doesn't love it?

Parsley, Sage, Rosemary And Thyme by Simon & Garfunkel
Jan 23 2024

Honestly have not really taken the time to listen to Simon & Garfunkel, and I extremely regret that I hadn't before. Big fan of Fleet Foxes, and this music really falls into that camp. Throwing a bunch of these songs into a bunch of my playlists, and really look forward to enjoying this album in the future. 4/5 or 85/100.

Jan 24 2024

Not the kind of music I would seek out and listen to, but had a long morning drive on a rainy, cloudy day when I listened to this and it perfectly fit the mood and was a real enjoyable listen. Not necessarily something I’m going to listen to often, but nice to know it’s there and to know I’ve heard it. 3/5 or 63/100
