D.O.A. the Third and Final Report of Throbbing Gristle
Throbbing Gristleits all noises? I can respect the boundary pushing but its just not even listenable as an album. Also using nazi imagery to be provocative and edgy is gross.

meh
Lou reed is peak jazz rock. Walk on thr wild side is GOAT
Crime of the century is PEAK rock along with breakfast in america
boring
trying to sound old skool but its just bad
not bad but I cant get behind the fucking tambourine playing out of tune
Not a fan of boomer rock
test
Mile davis will always be king of improvisational jazz
I hate pearljam with a passion
a classic
nope
peak rock
Its hard to make boring electropop yet here we are
I hate music that repeat itself
pretty boring but catchy I guess
a classic of psych rock, Season of the witch MVP
Rock operas are mankind's greatest achievement
soul jazz for my jazz soul
Knew a couple of songs but never really paid much attention to this band. I am now its great.
This is fucking awesome bayou witch music. the kind of chaos that sooth the adhd riddled brain
Was going to call it cliché but can you really call something that invented the cliché that. Im sure I woupd have loved MJ back in the day but this genre was so overused by everyone after him that I cant enjoy it.
I absolutely love some of muses songs, but most of the time its what I call microwaved music. It's the kind of music you listen in the backround and forget it's on. Not bad, but it lacks personality. 3/5 neutral opinion.
Didnt know rock could be gentrified but yeah, here it is. I try really hard to not be a music snob but I draw the line at Paul Simon. This guy saw 80s folk rock and decided to strip it of all its meaning and essence to market it to a bigger audience with a horrible "world music" vibe. Usually when that happens I try to focus less on the message and more on just the music itself but even them idk what happens but it sounds like shit. The recording sucks, the instruments sucks, his voice sucks, the whole thing mashed together sucks. fuck off
very soothing and relaxing. Voice is great, instruments blends really well together
First time hearing closely that type of music. Which is like, experimental 80s pop, soft new wave? Anyway, the combining soft instruments leaving all the place to the mediocre voice kinda ruins the whole thing and the lyrics arent that good. Still, some songs were pretty heartfelt and some short segments are actually 5/5 when the music and voice picks up. Was gonna give it a bad rating but the weirdness grew on me 4/5
Was not ready for the toy story dude to drop this much slurs. what a ride. This made me realise we need to bring back working class country.
Elvis is a classic. Gets annoying quick tho.
gotta love good ol hip hop. lyrically good and musically catchy
Not a fan of late 80s rock because they always have weird echoey voices and slow percussions. The guitar riffs are really good tho
I really loved this album. only knew their popular songs but the whole thing is a work of art. Each song is basically a singed poem with pretty intricate and smart lyrics. A lot of the songs are really political on the condition of african americans in America, which makes the whole thing even more powerful.
This album has this weird paranormal psychological effect of entering one ear and leaving the other instantly. Would love to rate this better, but my psyche is not strong enough to focus on the song. I also realised halfway through that it was the frontman of The Smiths and it made me sad what he became. Would rate 2/5 I guess? But this dude is a pretty big fascist and I cant wait for the guillotine to be back in fashion.
🎺🎺🎺 I'm a sucker for jazz but this one was particularly great!
I like noisy stuff. It's pretty unique and catchy but noise can't just be your whole thing without another gimmick. Also what's up with the sound mixing????
David is a true artist and one of my favorite. his lyrics and vocals are great. each story he tells in songs is great
this gave me a big headache. the bass is also creepy
wtf this is so fucking good. why have I never heard of this? The mix of irish folk and ocasional punk outburst is so good. will def listen to more of them
I always loved this album so much. Take me out is literally peak indie rock
usually not my style but this was pretty funky!
cool kinda grunge thing? I dig it but it's nothing special 4/5
some very good folk! I vibed the whole time.
high as fuck cowboys make the best kind of country. Love this guy and his music.
generally not a fan of pop and she got a very generic voice and she does not hit those notes... Redeeming thing is that some brief jazzy parts are alright, but the rest is bland.
what a snoozefest. this is what Cash would have done if he did nyquill instead of coke. Quote from marianne
Dreamy and soft but nothing groundbreaking. Good background music
Huh. Was about to rate it 0 and joke about how ska is just the gentrified child of reggae and punk but this is actually decent. It's the old school british punk rock voice that dows it! 3/5, which is a lot from me for ska.
eh, maybe im just not in the mood but it felt too aggressive. lyrics and sampling are pretty good tho!
I only knew Heads Will Roll, first time hearing the whole album and I really dig it! Post-punk is one of my favorite genre but oftentimes its woefully underrated/unoriginal a lot of the time. Not this album, the punk voice with the heavy rock tune mixed with the whacky electronic noises makes the whole thing masterful!
Never really digged Cyndi Lauper. This album was probably very innovative when it came out, and I would probably have loved it in the 80s but new wave, and lauper especially, has been milked to death. If this album came out today, it would be branded as yet another unoriginal pop artist who wanted to feel cool by adding punk elements to their songs. One song is alright once in a while, but a whole Lauper album is TOO MUCH.
Rating it 5 because this is the first album where the music is truly unique and took me off guard. life is life cover killed me
its all noises? I can respect the boundary pushing but its just not even listenable as an album. Also using nazi imagery to be provocative and edgy is gross.
REM is one of the quintessential of rock, always nice to listen to and very cozy. It gets a special mention for Everybody Hurts because I always loved that song.
Hey Morissey is back, this time its before he went insane! Never really got into The Smiths but they have some pretty good and original songs here and there! Not in this album tho. Its pretty uninspiring post-punk which is actually surprising because its hard to make a couter-culture genre boring. Barbarism Begins at Home is actually pretty good because it has that disco bass riff that makes it original, but I guess the inspiration ran out after that because the other songs are meh. The title song starts very weirdly and that gave me hope, but it devolved back into another unoriginal track. Not the worst but im giving 3/5 because it makes me angry that they were so close to sounding great and chose mediocrity.
Not bad, but not good either. Each songs have their own style but it never improves. It starts and end the same, no bridge, do drop, which makes the whole thing pretty underwhelming. The low monotone voice of the singer doesnt help their case either. indie rock is supposed to make you feel nostalgic/emotional but it felt cheap. Others have done it better
ça a faite son temps
pretty funky
I'm sad that I cant stand this kind of music. It was milked wayyy too much by all the fucking radio stations throughout my life to the point where I cant listen to it anymore without feeling a bit of anger. I'm also not the main audience for simplistic music where they talk about personal issues. However I will acknowledge that she has a really good and powerful voice.
finally some good fucking music on this forsaken website.
10/5, don't even need to listen to the whole album because I already do pretty often. They basically popularised heavy metal and will always be the goat of early heavy metal in my heart. Each song is really unique, good riffs, insane voice. always refreshing
At first I was worried it would be too "proto EDM", as in it would be really basic and repetitive like a lot of 90 electro is. Turns out I really loved it! The beats are indeed simplistic compared to modern edm, but in this case I found it to be a good thing because it perfectly balanced with the eclectically changing beats and the unique sound sampling. It made me realize that a lot of modern EDM is actually very oversaturated with noise and that sometime a more refined beat is better.
I was curious why people go so insane for this album when to me, it sounds like boring elevator music. Apparently they strived for musical and recording perfection and it took a shit ton of effort to make and is thus hailed as the holy graal of sound engineering. But i'm not a musician, I dont have a musical ear and I listened to it on a shitty speaker so all i'm earing is boring elevator music... 2/5
Hey, I was sure I was going to hate it when I saw it's modern hip hop but it's actually pretty refreshing! The use of a large array of instrument instead of just relying on sampling was a great surprise. The songs are also pretty diverse and original from one another and the fact rhat they're all pretty short and its only a 30 min album allow things to stay pretty fresh throughout the listening 4/5
Used to be really into psych rock but its the first time I hear about Neil Young. After listening to it I know why: its pretty boring. It got some country elements that I find cool but its overla not bad, but not memorable
Some songs are pretty boring and repetitive. Overall it sounds pretty archaic. Some beats were pretty good and would be pretty hype coked up on a dancefloor. Others had some sounds that caused mysophonia and were torture.
Hey that was actually pretty original and good! Fhat piano was on fire. The singing was pretty great too!
Usually not my style but this was pretty soothing
This is album is universally apraised as THE quintessential hip hop album. If you don't like it, it probably means old school hip hop is not your style. I'm pretty biaised because im a big fan but this is an easy 5/5
If you consider it a big irnonic shitpost it's pretty entertaining I guess.
hell yeah! this is some raw music and im all bere for it. Loved most of the songs but im giving 4 because some songs sounds like elvis prestley from hell
Don't even need to listen to it, I already know it by heart. This album is peak rock guitar technique and one of the greatest everything
Yeah its just the same 5 second beat over and over
This would be a 2.5 because I never really got into afrobeats and the songs are pretty long and repetitive. But this is a big political album agaisnt the nigerian government that resulted in the military persecuting them and killing his mother so im giving 4 as a political message and concept album
boring rich people hippie music for people that I imagine are too afraid to order something different than what they always order at the restaurant they go every friday. All the songs there had the potential to be good but it feels like they gave up halfway. Should have focused on quality over quantity instead of making a pretty long double album.
Good shit
First few songs were aight, but I cant stand a whole album of these songs parodying old rock and roll a cappella
Hey this is actually good. I was scared it was going to be pompous but the rock with folksy vibe is pretty good and relaxing. The electro addition keeps thing fresh too.
Digged the first piece. but improvisational piano gets boring quick when there's no sudden change in tone
90s fuckboy music. I tried many times to get into that genre but alas, it is irredeemable.
Expected some boring rock but it ended up being an amazing fusion of post-punk and electro pop. Only downsize is the really bad singing
When I started dating Marianne, I told her I was a huge fan of Nirvana even though I never listened to it. To my surprise, it was one of the best thing I ever listened to and started my life long love for anti-consumerist music and low fidelity recordings.
Music is not bad per say. But it's pretty unoriginal and feels more like a jam session with stoners too high to come up with good ideas.
Huh. This one is weird. I dig the grunge parts, but it constantly switch between being pretty good grunge and boring pop rock. I even got some boomer country vibes from it, I think? These songs would be pretty good to listen to on like College Rock Station in the Sims 2, but irl its not my style.
The more upbeat songs have all been played to death on the radio and are pretty boring. But the more mellow and melancholic songs are really good. Especially I Spy. so good.
Absolutely boring.
I hate Steely Dan. Their music is vapid and boring. It's too clean, clinical. I'm pretty sure it's the go to album for a psychiatrist somewhere in the world to calm their patients.
BOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOORRRRRRRRRIIIIIIIIIIIINNNNNNNNGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGG
I love depeche mode, they were my introduction to post-punk and goth related music. Go to album to ponder on your life while it's raining outside.
Finally some good music after a long series of exceptionally boring and pompous music. I love Motorhead and Ace of Spades is my favorite album. All theses songs are super RAW and im all here for it
Last album I rated from her I said I hated her generic boring pop voice and boring instrumental and was ready to trash on her again. But this one is actually pretty good and unique!
MY BOY VAN HALEN WOO. insane guitar and timeless pieces.
I really loved this album overall. Soul in general is not a genre i'm used to so this was a nice change of pace from what I usually listen to. The album kinda goes everywhere tho and walks a fine line between really original and artsy songs with rich instumentals and songs that you would find in a bad summer romcom movie featuring Adam Sandler. Would have rated 5/5 but the very few songs that sounded like really bad pop ruined it for me.
I should like this album, I usually love everything punk and grungy. But this is just so generic and boring. Wikipedia says its noise rock and that its supposed to be minimalist. But idk, if you want to do some counter culture stuff, be more daring! more angry! Like its a mix between punk and prog rock? prog is technical and original, punk is raw and noisy, you cant just mix them together and expect something good
I like the vibe, but it gets pretty boring always hearing the same thing
I'm glad we got this, I know a bunch of people who are OBSESSED with Kanye but I never got around to listen to him because he always gave me bad vibes. Well, time proved me right and he ended up being batshit insane and I have a huge problem of not being able to separate the art from their artists. Trying to be open minded and understand why a lot of people consider this album "the best ever made", I listened to it twice and spent a lot of time interpreting the lyrics and focusing on the songs. But I cant... The lyrics are just him being self indulgent with half assed rhymes and the sampling is very boring and repetitive. There's even a few times I thought spotify was being buggy because the sampling were just repeating weirdly. Some songs get pretty hype but it either repeats ad infinitum, or abruptly stops and you never hear it again, no balance in between. Some guest artists were pretty good too, but as soon as kanye start spouting shit, it gets ruined. Overall, the music is also not really intricate, but I guess its decent compared to most of modern hip hop, which is not saying a lot tbh.
I dig it
meh, 80s slop
