so close to 1 star. metallica is the ultimate drag
one of my all time favorites<3333
The songs I already knew were great, but otherwise only Map of the Problematique stood out. I also thought Hoodoo sounded a lot like Jeff Buckley, just a few years later and less raw and exciting.
Made me think how well jazz and food go together. Like black coffee and french pastry enjoyed slowly; or craft beer and a flower salad. Never had that thought so vividly before. And then it expands into enjoying other arts, and even nature. The ambient sounds of drinks clinking and people murmuring emphasize that sense of jazz as an overlay that contours and dances with the rhythms of living. Not surprising coming from a guy who played with Davis and Coltrane. Really enjoyed.
urgh metallica is just like if you took all the swagger out of its punk precedents. like, "no jazz or reggae or latin and mediterranean beats, please. i want to see nothing but an infinite unchanging grid in my mind's eye." grooveless. and way too late in the game to claim much inventorship of hard rock sounds.. perhaps my view will change with time still, i liked the final two tracks, orion and damage, inc. pretty well, good songs to zone out to. and i admit that i agree about that episode of stranger things putting master of puppets in its right context. it is what it is!
fuck DB
Hard respect to Mr. Waters but that blues/motown sound is not really for me. At this at this time....
a little disjointed and unfinished feeling. amidst all the chaos it still didn't sound very original to me. better than a lot of music, but i probably will not return to this.
right up my alley babey
I definitely heard the bob dylan influence and thought of kurt vile before even reading the wiki. I agree with the idea that they merge a lot of rock genres. Some really beautiful songs.
A little underwhelming. Nevermind is better. I feel like Nirvana is for people who don't often dwell in the realm of alt rock, classic rock, grunge, psych rock, punk, etc.
Creative lyrics, though they did seem like the type I would have written in middle school. Some moments took me out of my comfort zone and I appreciate that. Probably won't return but glad I listened.
every time a song started to make me think "4 stars," something would happen that changed my mind ☺️
woof, did not enjoy this almost at all. this album was the reason i didn't get into rh sooner. the last couple songs were the best!
Ol' Otis was all over Sam Cooke's booty. Funny that every cover on this album is worse than the original, and then Aretha's Respect cover was so much better than his original! The production seemed a little rough and rushed, not the best of his recordings, albeit impressive.
unbelievably derivative, never left the 80s and wasn't even original then. you'll never be wipers you'll never be pink floyd. the lack of any creativity actually kind of pissed me off
Pretty unremarkable! Gosh 5 star system is rough.
What a journey. It's no E.B., but it was a great soundtrack to my day of walking and cleaning and driving. I love u CAN even if your absurdity sometimes makes me laugh
ugh took eternity to get thru this short album. i can hear that cyndi influenced a lot of later singers so props. but soooo boring and not my style
so close to 1 star. metallica is the ultimate drag
i love my boys so much
duh!!!
the mii channel, the sonic racing soundtrack, modern hip hop, and daft punk would be nothing without disco. that said, I've heard better disco, and I was incredibly bored for most of this album, despite the superhit freak out.

i heard sinead o connor's faith and courage here.. apparently he did not produce on that album but they were flatmates for time (!!). I'm convinced he did some sneaky work on it. Cool to know about this guy even though I didn't love listening that much
I heard all kinds of songs hidden in this album that were probably inspired by the monk. Fly me to the moon, in other words, etc.! But kind of boring compared to some jazz albums like mingus or bill evans
gosh, that tori amos kate bush alanis sinead voice was huge in the early nineties. absolutely adore a couple of these songs, and therefore slightly disappointed with the album as a whole. still dope though
Kinda knew I would like this and I loved it. Feeling 4 stars on the first listen but I can easily see it going up with time <3
not bad musicianship, but as a fan of many similar singers, i didn't like the lead singer's vocal choices. instead of creating pretty discordance, it just sounded incongruous
one of my all time favorites<3333
there's simply no denying this album is amazing but I can't give it 5 because page and plant are demons
pretty boring, but i see what mandela was talking about. good music to fall asleep to
way better than i would have expected
i recognize that there's a lot of artistic merit here but DM is and always has been astoundingly unappealing to me
YAWN
1.5 rounded up. this 45min album felt like 3 hours!! like if depeche mode were even more boring zzzzzz. not the worst album ever fs, there were like two brief moments where i almost enjoyed it zzzzzzz
was incredibly bored for the entire first half, but enjoyed a few songs in the second half. i've always thought ff were overrated and this album did not change that perception
close to 4 star, but not quite. my type of music but not the best of its genre. will want to listen to more albums from then, since i was only familiar with singles before
with how much mth influenced and were influenced by major artists i love, i expected to like this a lot more. maybe on a future listen, or maybe a different album by them will be better
