Bad
Michael JacksonGroovy as hellll. A lot rockier than thriller but I really enjoyed it. Favorites: Smooth Criminal, I Just Can't Stop Loving You, Speed Demon
Groovy as hellll. A lot rockier than thriller but I really enjoyed it. Favorites: Smooth Criminal, I Just Can't Stop Loving You, Speed Demon
I listened to Purple Rain Instead bc I aint reading all that, one of the best albums I've heard in a while. So full of life and energy, and unbelievably groovy. Love his voice and vibe. On first listen perfect I think lol Fav songs: Let's Go Crazy, The Beautiful Ones, When Doves Cry, Purple Rain, The Beautiful Ones
WOAHHHHHHHHH Title track is INSANE. Love the buildup with the flowy jazz and then the rich singing. It's just so melodic. I really want to listen to his other stuff bc of that. Second track I thought was a little slower, but still really damn good. Learning about the history and aftermath of this album was also very interesting, made me want to learn more about Nigerian history.
Super smooth and rocky soul album. Loved the elements of prog rock and psychedelia in there, and simultaneously surprised I hadn't heard more about both Michael and this album. Lowkey deserves a relisten bc I was driving while I heard the majority of it, so it would benefit from me paying more attention to it. it's something special for sure though. Fav Songs: Hero, You Ain't the Problem, Final Days
Was expecting to hate this, but I was really enjoying it. First bit is really really nice, but gets slower in the middle lol. Still I love the angry guitar rips and whoever tf is singing. Really catchy for being whatever it is. Will be revisiting! They are stupid in a cool way Fav songs: Battery, Master of Puppets, Welcome Home, Orion
It's about time I listened to this album. I was shocked at how much I enjoyed this, especially because I haven't enjoyed rock very much when I'd listened to it previously. I really like the tracks with Nico, I don't even know how to describe why. The instrumentation with her deep voice is just awesome. I thought the last two tracks as well as Venus in furs were a little slower than I like, especially for a rocky album. I liked this album a lot. Fav Songs: Sunday Morning, Femme Fatale, Run Run Run, I'll Be Your Mirror
I was pissed when I saw this bc I thought it would be some random tedious rock album, but I was pleasantly surprised. I found all of the songs really really catchy, and although they weren't anything special I enjoyed them very much. Reading about the history of the band was very interesting, I wouldn't know this album was lacking some perfect frontman. No offense but I get tired of the dude's voice, still very fine though. YAY Fav Songs: A Design for Life, Further Away hmmmdsammdafsmmadfs idk whether to give it a 3 or 4 have a 4 bc of further away
Don't make me mad John Cale. what even was that. I mean it was fine but it sounds like a record you'd find at a record store for a dollar and then pretend you like because you spent money on it. Kinda forgettable too. Fav Songs: Paris 1919
Sounds like three best friends got together one day in a studio and made this. Also happens to sound awesome. Love the beats, love how groovy and upbeat they are. I did find some of the lyrics to be kinda awkward and I thought the interludes were a little annoying at times but still damn good. Fav Songs: Jenifa Taught Me, Say No Go, Eye Know, Buddy 3.5/5
My third Velvet Underground adjacent album in like a week 😭Way different from self titled, more abstract and noisy. Layering of vocals and instrumentation still there tho. Lowkey too noisy at times but I respect the vision. Fav songs: The Gift, Sister Ray
Very fun. Felt like some of the tracks were annoying but some standouts. Could see myself playing this in the background while doing just about anything. Fav Songs: I'm Gonna Sit Right Down and Cry, Blue Suede Shoes
Really, really nice. Don't think I am versed in jazz enough to know why exactly this album sounds good, nor have I ever heard a jazz album that I didn't like, but I don't think that's necessarily a bad thing. All I know is that it's incredibly calming and pleasant. Makes me feel like a 80 year old feeding pigeons in a park in the fall with the wind blowing around me. Heat. Fav songs: Idk they all melded together, really liked the first track tho
WOOOOOO!!!!! Fav Songs: Nighttrain, My Michelle, Sweet Child O' Mine
Felt like a lot of the tracks were pretty grating. Too avant garde plus his voice made me want to smash my head into a table. Rest of it was aight. I feel like I liked the idea more than how it was arranged. Fav Songs: Rue des tempetes, Crier les chiens
Emmy Lou Harris carried. Great harmonies and pretty cheerful, playful stuff. Nothing special, but done well and very comforting. Fav Songs: Return of the Grievous Angel, Love Hurts, Hearts on Fire, Ooh Las Vegas
FIRE. I think a great introduction to Bowie. I just love how he can take like barely any instrumentation and turn it into a genuinely interesting sound. Found the middle a little dull but it picked back up and the beginning was peak as hell. Fav Songs: Life on Mars?, Changes, Andy Warhol, The Bewlay Brothers
I really really don't want to listen to this album so I'll give it a three for the benefit of the doubt 😭😭 Sorry
Some of the greatest production on an album ever. Amazing lyrics, GODLY creativity, literally not a skip on the album. I love every song for a different reason. Thank you kanye Fav Songs: All of them, but especially On Sight and Blood on the Leaves
Weirrdddd. I liked autobahn a lot but I thought the rest was just beige electronic music. Vocals kinda sound like bladee lol. Sucker for long songs so I'll give it a 3 Fav Songs: Autobahn
Ethereal lush goodness. So beautiful. I don't even know how to describe it. Fav songs: Heaven or Las Vegas, I Wear Your Ring, Frou-Frou Foxes in Midsummer Fires
Nice samples, rhymes, lyrics, vocals, and goofy as hell. Nothing to complain about. Fav Songs: CREAM, Method Man, Tearz
Damn was this nostalgic. Reminds me of road trips growing up. Harmonies are so beautiful bruh, some songs are kinda filler-ish but still so beautiful and doesn't take anything away from the other stuff. Fav Songs: Bridge Over Troubled Water, Keep the Customer Satisfied, The Boxer
Right now feels surreal. I think I should get some sleep. This album is pretty good though, so fundamentally different from OK Computer. So different but everything makes sense together. Peak minimalism. 100 emoji Fav Songs: Nude, Weird Fishes, Jigsaw Falling Into Place, Reckoner
Kinda annoying tbh sorry Iggy. It's giving wailing in the garage. Made me feel cool for listening to it tho lmao. Fav Songs: Raw Power
Lesbian country lorddd 😩 😩 Jokes aside she has such a beautiful voice and its like Spanish influence and everything is so smooth, straight fire. Fav Songs: Western Stars, I Wish I Didn't Love You So, Tears Don't Care Who Cries Them
I feel like this is exactly what the 60s sound like. No other notes Fav Songs: Alone Again Or, The Red Telephone, Maybe the People...
Fye. Bro is pissed. Great voice, super catchy, some songs are more forgettable than others but still a very VERY strong album. Queen behavior Fav Songs: You Oughta Know, You Learn, All I Really Want
Omg this was so bad 😭 Literally none of the instrumentation worked well together, his voice annoyed me so much, and some of the lyrics were so random that it annoyed me. I genuinely don't know why people love this album so much its so off-putting. The title track is where I realized that maybe this wasn't going to be as good as I thought it would, what the actual hell is the intro. It doesn't get better either, the "I'm a blackstar" interruption was so grating. I get that this album's whole thing was that he was dying, but at least make it sound good damn. Fav Songs: Lazarus I guess?
WOAHHH SO BOPPY!! Some tracks were harder to listen to if I listened to the lyrics, but crazy grooves, lit samples, and a lot of fun. Fav songs: Statik
What a voice. Not a thing wrong with this Fav Songs: Change Gonna Come, My Girl, Rock Me Baby
Idc that this is generic pop, she has something special. Her voice is so beautiful, and the songs that hit, hit. Some songs were unfortunately pretty boring, it was really all or nothing for me lmfao. Still, ily Adele. Fav Songs: Rolling in the Deep, Set Fire to the Rain, Lovesong
I kinda hate this lol. Didn't know they did tainted love tho so good for them. Definitely picked up towards the end, but still kind of just wailing. Being British and talking about sex is not a personality trait I believe. I liked them better when they weren't being obnoxious and during more calmer songs. Seedy Films made me want to die. Fav Songs: Tainted Love, Secret Life, Say Hello Wave Goodbye, Sex Dwarf WAIT THIS IS KINDA GOING HARD I'll give it a 2 Album Art (Gonna start doing this now bc I saw another guy on here do it): These guys look like they're about to sell you the worst joint you've ever seen. Oh wait wtf is he holding is that a cut of meat or was i right about the weed I want to punch them i like the effect and the titles and background thats cool thats nice
Huh. I was expecting something completely different because of the diva on the front, but I'm pleasantly surprised. Really impressed by how it's almost ambient at times instead of just typical 70s 80s rock. No wonder Brian Eno produced this. Guys voice is cool, instrumentation is cool, like two songs are a bit annoying but other than that super evil, super dank album. Fav Songs: Beauty Queen, In Every Dream a Home a Heartache, The Bogus Man, For Your Pleasure Album Cover: Cannot get cooler than this. I mean she's holding a jaguar bruh
Idk I liked the vision of some of the songs, but others I thought were kind of weird. When he wasn't being experimental for no reason it was super nice Fav Songs: You Can Call Me Al, Graceland, Diamonds on the Soles of Her Shoes
I turned on the first song and hated it. Once I started paying attention to the music, I thought it was the best thing I'd heard in my life. I'd definitely sit at that damn with a slice of pie and some tomatoes for times he won't shut the fuck up. Fav Songs: Eggs and Sausage, Warm Beer and Cold Women, Putnam County
Sprawling and epic. Corny as all get out but that only makes it better. Absolutely love how every song is a completely different genre but it's still so seamless. Goes SO hard. Fav Songs: Bat Out of Hell, Heaven Can Wait, For Crying Out Loud
I mean it's alright? Very quirky and very experimental. I think sometimes the instrumentation tries to do too much. I also wish it were a little more refined because it definitely sounds like a jam session. Fav Songs: The Curse of Baba Yaga
Peace. Fav Songs: Viorar Vel Til Loftarasa, Staralfur
1 2 THREEEE REPEATER Yeah really nice angry album, very enjoyable. Fav Songs: Repeater
How can EVERY song be so catchy I don't understand. Idk I'm really rocking with this one. A couple songs are a little bit annoying, but damn is this good. Fav Songs: You Are the Sunshine of My Life, You and I, Superstition, Big Brother, I Believe
This genuinely had no reason at ALL to be an hour. Full of the worst vocals you've ever heard and the worst, most random background music going on. Really really hard to listen to. This does not deserve its spot on the list. Fav Songs: This is Hell (don't you love it when a song describes the album)
Weirdly like it. I feel like I should hate everything about it, but the lead singers weird lisp situation is kind of charming. Songs have very nice melodies and instrumentation never does too much. Also really fond of some of the experimental bits like on Electronic Renaissance. Yeah, good stuff. Fav Songs: The State I Am In, Electronic Renaissance, Mary Jo
Oh my god. This album created the best and most consistent atmosphere on an album I've ever seen. Down to the album art the music is just so solemn and frosty. Also every song was beautiful in its own way, the shorter ambient and electronic tracks added so much depth as well. The highlight is The Cure's trademark guitar and Smith's wailing vocals. I liked how on some of the tracks the vocals were pulled back, giving more attention to the instruments. Jesus. Fav Songs: Play for Today, A Forest, At Night, 17 Seconds
Liked the production far more than I liked his vocals, but he sure was able to make an interesting, atmospheric album that was a total vibe. Fav Songs: Big Muff, Small Hours
Love this. Hardy guitar, silly ass vocals, banging songs. Love the little guitar licks, cool percussion, not much else to say except this is crazy tough. Can't think of any reason to not give this 5 stars. Goated Fav Songs: Green River, Bad Moon Rising, Lodi
Was NOT expecting to love this as much as I did. Super grungy, psychedelic, LONG songs with often some cool harmonies. This type of music often has like 4 minute songs so it was an awesome surprise to seem go past 8 minutes, even to 10 at one point. Fav Songs: Over and Over, Love and Only Love
I have heard a lot of opinions about Eminem, but I don't even care this was so fun to listen to. I think a lot of it was nostalgia, I listened to My Name Is like 30 times when I was a kid, but the lyrics are so random, beats are awesome, and man can he create an environment. I think some tracks were a little boring and it ran too long, but there is no way I can give this less than a 4. Fav Songs: My Name Is, Brain Damage, Just Don't Give a F
Noisy as hell, definitely annoying, but deserves to be on this list. Felt like a lot of the same thing over and over but it was so atypical that it would be hard to get tired of it. Extra points for the cover Fav Songs: Mouth for War, This Love, Hollow
I'm so mad because these were some of the catchiest songs I'd ever heard but the lyrics were actual dookie. The entirety of Stupid Girl I just couldn't stop laughing. I don't think in good consciousness I could give this above a three. Fav Songs: Paint it Black, Doncha Bother Me, Going Home
Super glad I listened to this. I wish I was high while it was playing, super trancey, but super simple as well. Something about listening to a foreign language sing is so beautiful. Loved this. Fav Songs: Maacina Tooro
Heard an Irish accent and a harp and immediately got mad and turned this off. I'm sorry but I'm not in the mood. Fav Songs: N/A
I freaking LOVE this. Every track goes a different direction but they're all so seamlessly put together. Drums in the back are awesome, and whatever tf he decides to do with his voice always pays off. The word gruff is a great way to describe this Fav Songs: Devils Haircut, Minus, High 5 (Rock the Catskills)
Yeahhhh good shit. Groovy like no other. I love you fela kuti Fav Songs: Black Man's Cry, Ye Ye De Smell, Egbe Mio
Funky electronic album. Singing seems like it wouldn't go well with it, but it makes it work. Really liked this one. Fav Songs: Motion Sickness, Let Me Be Him, Always Been Your Love
I don't think I've ever heard something this groovy before. First half was incredible, definitely slowed down towards the end. If it was just the first half it would be an easy 5, but I was pretty bored with a lot of the later songs. Fav Songs: Shake Your Hips, Sweet Virginia, Loving Cup
Something about hearing people sing in other languages is just so lovely to me. Youssou was able to get in some great harmonies, super fun instrumentals, and make feel like I was in on the conversation without speaking a lick of Wolof. Fav Songs: Taaw
Very nice, but it's unfortunately giving planet fitness playlist a little (especially towards the end). Still, love the spacey and laid back production, would fall asleep to this Fav Songs: Crystalised, Islands, Shelter
Every song sounded the same but that was a good thing. All By Myself might be the worst song I've ever heard Fav Songs: Welcome to Paradise, Burnout, Basket Case, When I Come Around
This was super dark, super vibey, kind of like a scary version of the cure. Regardless, I loved this, some songs were a bit too spacey/annoyingly repetitive for me but some good, industrial stuff. Fav Songs: Requiem, Primitive
Felt like this was kinda hit or miss. Wish it had more instrumentation sometimes, but decently groovy. Fav Songs: Lively Up Yourself, Revolution
This album made me feel so calm and comfortable. I feel like these guys would be so fun to play dominos with. Fav Songs: La Bayamesa, El Cuarto de Tula, Y Tu Que Has Hecho?
Meh. Fav Songs: Hanoi Rocks
Merry Christmas! Fav Songs: The songs with the ronettes
I tried so hard to like this but idk it seemed so childish. Doesn't feel like punk. Fav Songs: Do I have to?
Love me some rocky, bipolar, prog rock. Sounds like a combination between Queen and King Crimson. Fav Songs: I've Seen All Good People, Starship Trooper
One of my favorites. Somehow this album manages to do everything and make it sound not only good, but cohesive. And the cover is just fantastic Fav Songs: 21st Century Schizoid Man, Epitaph, The Court of the Crimson King
Now THIS is a rolling stones album. Every track deserved to be there, and something about each one makes it a total standout. Good stuff. Fav Songs: Dead Flowers, Wild Horses
Nice little album! I felt like there were exactly two standout, really really good tracks, but aside from that it was just decent. Was surprised by the other elements in this album, because I was expecting just rock. Fav Songs: Yoshimi Battles the Pink Robots, Pt. 1, Do You Realize??
Frickin perfection. Ventures into every style you could imagine flawlessly and at full speed. Naturally SOYCD are the standout tracks, but the middle stuff it also perfection. Damn. Fav Songs: All of em
