The Velvet Underground
The Velvet UndergroundLiked it more than I thought. Some weird songs in there. Not perfect singing but I like the cozy and intimate feel of the recording. Especially love the first song.

Familiar sounding, even aside from all the popular songs on the record. I’m listening for musicality but I think it is a lyrics heavy album too. Obvious political references and grievances that still hold up today (unfortunately). Melancholy, ironic, and at times intense in tone.
More soul and blues than I realized the Rolling Stones were. Lyrics and concept seemed more accessible to me than previous records this week. A very listenable album, I’d listen again
Easy listening, with a lot of recognizable songs, and interesting too. Loved this one.
This was a very interesting listen. I found the complex, layered jazz to be so attention-catching. It wasn’t background music, it was music that made you listen hard to it. I loved the unexpected tempo changes and how the same melodic lines at different tempos gave such different vibes. I also liked the individual instrument solos including the flute and out of left field Spanish guitar. I finally understanding the term “crooning trumpet.” It sounded so much like a human voice I had to stop and make sure I wasn’t heaeing an actual voice!
I did not care for this album. It was a difficult listen for me. Too off the wall and weird. Their sound effects were cringey. The use of nursery rhyme-sounding lyrics that devolve into psychedelic cacophony was off-putting. This one was not for me.
This was good, very nostalgic of Florida and the bars there tha played this kind of music. Not my favorite but it brought up some memories. Could t help but notice how bluesy it is and how appropriation-y that is.
Two first songs are the best, rest was somewhat uninteresting to listen to for me. I’m not used to MJ songs being boring.
Loved it, a nostalgic and comforting listen. Interesting rock.
Enjoyable listen, I really appreciate the soul influence. They do it well, it’s so unexpected of a mid-century band of white guys from the UK.
