Bitches Brew
Miles DavisHas to be one of my favorite albums yet. I mean, what a stacked lineup. Miles Davis, Wayne Shorter, Bennnie Maupin, Chick Corea, Joe Zawinul, Jack DeJohnette, Dave Holland... holy shart

R.I.P. Brian Wilson... his true masterpiece is this album.
It's two genres that were never meant to be combined. Surf rock and punk are too different. But(thole haha jk im so funny) I do give them credit for trying. just doesn't work out in the end
It's a great album. Don't get me wrong. It has that slight disco feel but still scratches that minimalist edge that you don't really get with many albums from the seventies. It's original, it's creative, it's unique, it's talking heads, but unfortunately, after 3 or so songs, they don't really know what to do with themselves. The pressure to release another good album after their previous hits were high and they didn't take that time that they needed to really carve out and perfect every track. They keep that original feel throughout the album but they don't use it properly; and you eventually get tired of it. For someone who likes this kind of style, it's a great album; but if you're looking for fresh and interesting music, you might get bored with this one. 3/5 stars
I usually don't write long and legitimate reviews either because I don't have the time or patience or the album was so monotonal and boring that there wasn't that much to say about. When I do write a long and well thought review it's probably because I have a special connection to the album or it had some ups and some downs. This album is neither. I came into this album thinking that it was some kind of landmark in hip-hop. I had heard a lot about the Beastie Boys and knew a little bit of there later albums. When you listen to their individual songs, they are a refreshing listen that feels good and is enjoyable. Some find they're voice annoying and I see where they are coming from. But as I said, individual songs of theirs are nice. and this brings me to my first point. Each song individually is nice, but the album as a whole is repetitive and and the same sounding songs drag the album. Which is surprising to me, because this album's era was the era of concept albums, which are supposed to bring ups and downs, each song a piece of a bigger puzzle. And you can tell this album is intended to be a concept album. Songs flow into each other some are short. However there are no ups and downs, and all the songs don't make an image; if they did, it would be distorded and rather boring. My point is that this is a failed attempt at an concept album. but there's still a lot of great points in this album. The beats are very groovy and never let down, even though they can seem repetetive at points in the album. The lyrics are very good and they all tell stories. At least that part isn't repetitive. That brings me to yet another point. The vocals are not... great. They aren't unique, they don't bring anything new to the hip hop world, and they are not pleasent. It doesn't matter what the lyrics are, if it's hard to actually enjoy the vocals, you can't pay too much attention to the lyrics. There's no harmony in the vocals, there's nothing musical in the way they sing, and it's just not creative. If this is such a revolutionary album, then why do the vocals not add anything? What makes an album revolutionary is if it brings something new to the table. Some musicality would be very original but it seems like they just don't care. And god halfway through the album and you are already tired of their groaning type singing. Please, SINGGG!! Even in rap there should be some musicality in the vocals. There just isn't! Besides the vocals, there are some creative moments in this album. 5-peice chicken dinner isn't that long but it was a sudden changed and it kinda put a smile on my face. I wish there was more moments in the album where there are sudden changes to escape the eternal monotonal singing of whoever tf these rappers are. There are also some riffs that I can't mention because I don't remember what songs they were on but it was pretty refreshing when they had some pitch to them. but they were usually samples anyways :') i'm not saying that the beastie boys are racist or anything but I feel like this was created for people who are afraid of black rappers. I don't think that they did this intentionally but I can't imagine a black dude listening to this. It's very white culture. So... yeah. If you love painfully boring vocals with interesting lyrics, cool riffs that are usually sampled and groovy but extremely repetitive drum beats and a goofy ahh cowboy song about chicken and dinner, I think this it the album for you. For me? nah. I'll stick with the black rappers, thank you very much 2.5/5
AMAZING! All the songs are good and well refined. just quality all around
It's the most emotionless piece of shit I've ever listened to
It's Van Morrison
It's a great album. Don't get me wrong. It has that slight disco feel but still scratches that minimalist edge that you don't really get with many albums from the seventies. When I started listening to this album, I already had "More than a feeling" stuck in my head. It's one of those songs that when you start hearing the melody, you know it has that attracting flare that makes rock music so good. And after having a chance to listen to this album, I can confirm that "More than a feeling" is not their only good song. Before I listened to this album, I kind of thought that Boston was a one hit wonder. So, I planned on listening to the first song on the album and then listening to the same classic rock beat. However, I can confirm to you that musically, their is a lot more than classic rock in this album. Boston uniquely dives in to country and pre-progressive rock while keeping the same sound elements of a classic rock band. One song that stood out to me well was "Foreplay/Long Time". The beginning sounds like a intro to a Dream Theater concert, with the piano riff and the sudden jerks of the low distorsion guitar. The constant modulations in the first two minutes also makes it seem a lot more progressive than it is. Seriously, I would think that this it was a dream theater song. That is until you realize that dream theater wasn't formed until 20 years later. Another song that really stood out to me was "smokin'" which has a country vibe that keeps their own style. There are other songs/things that I would go into depth, like "Let Me Take You Home Tonight" which is a very soothing song that I really love, but I won't write any more. My only complaint is the distortion sound. It's not bad but they use it on every goddamn song and it becomes very painful after two or three. A lot of songs would do much better with a clean, softer guitar sound. Musically, however, this album is great and I really appreciated it. 4/5 stars.
Wow. What an album. Deservedly the second ranked out of all the albums on the global ranking. Each song well refined, well recorded, and well thought through. In the midst of nearly killing each other, they managed to somehow all shine through, pitching in a piece of their creativity into each and every song. It refrains from being repetitive but still has that nature in which it weaves together into one large project. Based here, but my favorite just has to be Dreams. Such an iconic song. I won't be surprised if it has a resurgance in popularity with teens (if it hasn't already) just like Iris by The goo goo dolls. 10/10.
bit biased here, but not my cup of tea tbh
Wow. I usually don't like or listen to rap, however this hits hard. It blends in jazz through samples and that really appeals to me. I hope there is other rap out there like this because it's great. Ham n' eggs is great. That horn riff will be stuck in my head for a while now ngl
When did repetitive, boring, monotonal, wanna-be rock win 3 grammys? In 2010. This album has no creativity whatsoever. It doesn't create ideas, it just riffs the same one on the same instruments for 15 fucking songs. Like what the fuck is this one of the worst albums i've ever listened to. 0 stars
classic oldies album. good stuff
Not her best album (Post is, go listen to that one plz). It's not bad. But it's not good. She develops GREAT ideas. I really love the orchestration and the rythms. I'm an avant-garde kinda guy, so I love Bjork's work. It's just this album.... she creates all these potential-high ideas, but she doesn't go anywhere with them. They are just... ideas. 6/10
only good coldplay album
tooooo heavy
Feels like trying to talk to a delusional on-drugs and alchohol creep but everytime u try to say something he interrupts u. but instead of interrupting u he interupts the music. the lyrics and the music are fighting lol. unlistenable. 0/5
Not nearly as good as Rumors partially because they didn't have any real reason to make this album the best; they just needed to make an album. 3/5 stars
I'm sorry I just don't like the rolling stones. This album feels like they're trying to be the beatles without plagarizing them
not bad, not good. reminded me of when a lemon fell on my head and i stepped on an acorn at the same time. it's just that kind of music
no thank you
Not sure how I feel about this They were trying to be something that they weren't. They played with style but didn't add their own emotion to it. 3.5/5 stars
You can understand why he wasn't a big hit. His music isn't necessarily mainstream, it's more dark and unique. The album as the whole misses that little smack of excellence that makes artists like Pink Floyd, the Beatles, the rolling stones, ELO, and tons of other artists popular. However, that doesn't mean that there isn't certain moments in the album that catch you. American Gothic is full of those little sparks of magic that make it a good album. If you don't have the patience to listen to the less attractive and more contemporary, you're not going to pick out the feel-good classic rock moments. David Ackles knows what he's doing, but the audience he's intending it for isn't exactly a large population. American Gothic, the title track, is one of these contemporary songs that may not be easy to listen to but it has that interesting, dark aspect that takes a different perspective to understand it's brilliance. If you look at the lyrics you can put yourself into the shoes of the character being described, and suddenly the music kind of surrounds you and puts you into a complicated, dark, somewhat somber, but creative world that Ackles creates. Love's Enough is the main moment in the album. I would've made it the title track but that's not my choice. It's a sobby ballad but it has that harmonic center that's unique but mainstream enough to be a feel-good song. Very ahead of it's time in a way but still great. Not much more to say. Just a nice song The next two songs were an interesting listen. They were kind of similar in a way but I apriciate the uniqueness and while others may not like it I found it pleasing. That's just personal taste. Oh how I wish that Oh California was a longer piece. It's another moment that's worth listening to, something I'd play again. It's a bit more groovy and I live in California so that's a W. It's a happy atmosphere that gives a break from Ackles' relentless somber feel. Good song in general as well, it's very inspired and satisfying. Another Friday Night just felt off a little bit. sort of misplaced in the album and it kind of felt like what you were thinking about last friday. eh Family Band had a kind of reminiscince and nostalgic feel to it. Enlightening in a way that makes you feel bittersweet. It's a very evoking piece, that's for sure. Midnight Carousel was interesting to say the least. It was weird, simply put Now I loved waiting for the moving van. It was similar to Love's enough but different enough to not sound repetitive. It creates an atmosphere while still having a relatively normal tonal center. It took a tone of harmonic twists that weren't jolting but rather pleasing. feel-good is the best way to name it blues for billy whitecloud is a blues. no more explanation lol Montana song was great but just a little long. I absolutely adore that orchestration though I'm tired of writing. You get my point. It's not a great album but it's not a bad album. 4/5 for uniqueness and captivatingness (not a word lol)
Short enough that it doesn't get repetitive. I love the message abt military. music with meaning!!
It's like eating a piece of cold bread, sort of enjoying it but not really, and then looking down at the bread and realizing it's blue and moldy except instead of bread it's the rolling stones album called "aftermath" and the blue and moldy is the misogynist af lyrics. 1 star
Didn't hate it, didn't like it
Can't Buy a Thrill is personally one of my favorite albums on this list, and Steely Dan is unarguably one of the most iconic bands from the 70's. Their fusion of rock and jazz is impeccable creates a style like none other. Can't Buy A Thrill is their best album for many (I prefer Aja, but that's personal preference) and it's clear why. They choose understandable lyrics and licks while fusing in a little jazz every now and then. The production is immaculate as well. Every instrument can be clearly heard and the sounds are very clean, which adds this clean rock feel that you find in so many Pink Floyd, Fleetwood Mac, Beatles, etc. albums. What's the most interesting to me is that they covered up the repetitiveness of typical rock music unlike most other bands do. Instead of forcing an awkward form or purposely creating dramatic changes in order to hide the formulaic rock that was so common. Instead they use great production and jazz harmonies to cover up their rather formulaic style. Great album, 5 stars.
It's two genres that were never meant to be combined. Surf rock and punk are too different. But(thole haha jk im so funny) I do give them credit for trying. just doesn't work out in the end
who knew african music was so good
It's classic heavy rock and all, but really it's kind of cringe if you think of it from a 21st century perspective.
cringe ahh pop synth gahhh
If punk rock was the 90's and the 00's and the 10's were pop, The White Stripes would be the gap. There music is new and innovative and therefore mainstream but at the same time takes influences from the rock n' roll era that make this such a great album. My only complaint is it was a bit too long and started to feel repetitive. Otherwise it was a great album, 4 stars for me. I am now a white stripes fan!
it lacks any creative edge. unidentifiable when compared to other heavy metal music unless you really really love the genre. I wish there was something unique about them but there isn't that much to highlight. also i'm just not a fan of heavy metal
never make me experience this hell again. costello's voice is so bad he was not meant to be a musician. no creativity or flow at all. ugh
it's like rap music before it was boring annoying and all sounded the same. great stuff
I've always loved Stevie Wonder. and this is one of his most fine albums. It's short enough that you're captivated the entire time and it has some of his best grooves and licks. His best album? I think so. Love it
that was absolutely disgusting. very uninspired and repetitive and annoying . I'm very much surprised that it made it onto this list.
Really just too noisy and uncreative. Not willing to listen to that again, lol
Wow. What an innovative album. Full of ups and downs and twists and turns that keeps you on your edge of your seat. It's not their best album but it's still great. They didn't have that much expectations to live up to and under the circumstance they COOKED. 5 stars
It's like the transition phase between rock and modern pop. We had no idea what to create and where we were going so we created this shit
Great album. I usually don't listen to that much indie because it all sounds the same. Each song was different and unique in it's own special way. Definetly one of those secret finds that I've never heard before. I really liked In the Morning of the Magicians, was very inspired and just a bop all around. 5 stars!
it's really deppresing
Punk rock but it actually feels genuine. They're contributing to the genre without being obnoxious in order to make a statement. Very enjoyable, would listen to again. Favorite songs would probably be Elevation and Torn Curtain. bangers

If I woke up tomorrow and this album didn't exist, I don't think much would change. It's not that it isn't good music, but it's entirely forgettable. Doesn't add much to the music scene for me
It's trying to make a statement too much. Too much anger in their sound, not enough refinement and what you would call a "work in progress". I did like some of the ideas in the songs but they weren't executed with expertise and therefore lacked attention grabbing skills. I'm not a big fan of metallica
I love jimi hendrix
Ooh. this was the kind of album I was looking for, something unique that I wouldn't have found on my own
Better than the other Beastie Boys album that I had to listen to, but still why so jarring vocals? Please, kendrick lamars style is literally more enjoyable than this, tired of hearing these white kids scream as if that was a form of music
I've never been that much into cuban music as it all sounded quite similar: relaxing in the sun enjooying time on the beach... all had that groovy minor feel and it just didn't feel intriguing. This felt different though. More creative and expasive, opening my lens to a really unique cuban culture that is so heavily unappriceated. I love this album and certainly one of my favorites that I've listened to. If you're leaving a negative review because you don't understand what they're saying, wtf bro? This music wasn't intended for you to understand, appriceate the fact that it's not attaching itself to the dumbass american culture that is your love language. Just enjoy the music lol
I feel like this album had such a cultural impact for those exact reasons. It's an album that doesn't have to really have a deep meaning, and it's just about being catchy and a good listen. I can see why people would be tired of the Nirvana-esque music of the 90's - that sub-genre is just about being angry and loud. So when RHCP's came along, it must've been a sigh of relief and a extremely refreshing album. But it's not just the intention of the music, it's also the execution that makes this album great. Every song develops in a intriguing manner. Every song for me is catchy and full of great music.
I always avoided Green Day because I thought they were like hippie punk rock with no meaning. This album really opened some doors for me, really creative and interesting and no I'm in a rabbit hold of Green Day albums. Entertaining stuff
Has to be one of my favorite albums yet. I mean, what a stacked lineup. Miles Davis, Wayne Shorter, Bennnie Maupin, Chick Corea, Joe Zawinul, Jack DeJohnette, Dave Holland... holy shart
"no"
Blunderbuss is the debut solo album by Jack White. But it doesn't feel that way at all. It feels like an album by an experienced solo musician. It expertly features so many different feelings and styles of music. Yet it just feels like a list of singles because there is absolutely no connection between the songs. Each song could be for a different band to play and it feels like a bit of a compilation.
Queen is great! I totally understand why this was their breakout album, amazing stuff
I know a little bit of french and I can guarantee you this album has nothing special. It doesn't say anything, it barely tells a story. It's just a middle aged pedo telling a 15 yo how much he loves her 7 times. like bro what? create stories out of music not crime scenes dammit 🤦🏻♂️
I'm a fan of Neil Young but not a fan of him trying to be a "must see live" performer
Can we stop with the clashy unnecessary punk music? Fun to listen to 15 seconds of each song and then instantly boring and repetitive. Music no one really asked for
Never heard of this guy or his music. But I'm a huge fan of jazz and I love some good soft organ, so this was really relaxing to listen to. I'll be comming back whenever I feel angry that there's not enough jazz anymore
Best Talking Heads album? I think so. Really defines what they are as a band and very creative as well. Their peak album for sure.
Trying too hard to be edgy rap, not relaxing at all
R.I.P. Brian Wilson... his true masterpiece is this album.
Have you ever watched a show or a movie and the subtitles say something like "wet squelching" and you immediately plug your ears because you don't want to hear goddamn wet squelching? That was me when I saw "Metal/Hard Rock" and "Hanoi Rocks" appeared on my screen. Absolutely disgusting
Definetly OutKasts best album. They are undeniably the best rap duo in history, their chemistry is so perfect. Some of my favorite rap out there and I'll be coming back to this album again
One of the few progressive rock albums that actually has a sense of genuine to it, a sense of human. It's not edgy just for the sake of being edgy, it's not full of bs music theory that requires a certain level of insane mental tolerance to actually understand (sorry Dream Theater), and not existing primarily to mean nothing. And im all here for it 5 stars
More yes! Yes please :D
Dinner music if you were hosting a 80 yo white southern military veteran who liked country music. Relaxing but very american and boring, as every American thing seems to be these days
that was good
