Every song was beautiful yet gritty. Cohen's voice is unmatched. No skips
Production on this is great

3.5
Again, not huge on rap, think it’s limited as a genre. That said, Ms. Lauryn Hill is very talented, she has creative rhyme schemes and interesting lyrics. Production is cleaner, but keeps the rawness. Good variation in the themes and melodies and lyrics. Ended up liking this a lot. 4.5 imo
First song his voice sounded retarded. Second song better but why listen to this when tom waits exists? Ended up being not great. Some interesting songs, overall probably a 1.5.
Not my favorite white stripes but still great
Solid project definitely some value here. Ahead of its time and ambitious, I just didn't particularly love any songs, they're all just pretty interesting and/or sonically pleasing. 3.5
Not super listenable but thats okay. Very unique and overall a solid project. Very interesting experimental stuff on here. I think 3.5 or 4... there are better sonic youth projects but this is still great
3.5, it’s great but not elite by cohens standards
Here's what I'm never gonna do: listen to Joan Baez sing House of the Rising Sun when the Monkees did it perfectly, listen to Joan Baez sing I Know You Rider when the Grateful Dead do it better. She's got a decent voice I just don't like it. Also the mixing on this is way too heavy on vocals. I understand that's intentional, I just don't like it or want it. Vibratos are overkill is kind of annoying.
Not on spotify
Its decent, for some reason ive just been struggling to enjoy it. think i just need more time with it
Not on spotify, listened to the first song on youtube, dont think im missing much
Can't stand the vocals
would be disingenuous to rate this a 1 or 1.5. I never really like the like pop singer over a piano music. i cant stand that tiny dancer song but the others are alright. but the production is solid and its not as corny as some other Elton John
excellent album. the type of album where 5 seconds into every song you can tell its quality. Joplin with legendary vocals.
Pretty solid, only a few songs that really stuck with me but its all solid. Easy listen, probably a 3.5
definitely one i'm gonna need more time with. seems dense lyrically
Solid 3. She has a good voice and i like the minimal production. easy listen. doesnt touch eva cassidy though
Fucking love this album
tough one to rank. the songs that i recognize im kind of sick of, and but the ones i dont still sound good. i can definitely see the integrity of the album. if i were listening to this for the first time it would probably be blowing my mind but it was just so overplayed in high school and i didnt like it in high school. it really is a crazy innovative blend of r&b, hip hop, and pop with great production.. its quality
Good amount of versatility in this. Decent voice. at times feels like a soulless impression of genres rather than a genuine attempt. but it is cool that it goes from like bluesy soul to ska-ish. lyrics are meaningful. i mean if youre talking records about a breakup, this is infinitely more personal and ambitious musically than someone like T swift or olivia rodrigo.
nothing im really gonna revisit on this tbh. Marley is a legend but whatever
liked this one a lot. interesting and experimental, amusing lyrics. good stuff
its great. great voice, good quality. i just prefer no voice i think, like the bill evans record. this is beautiful though
we in wakanda? described as an epic storyteller but idk what he sayin. feel like i gotta have some connection to the culture to enjoy this
This was pretty sick felt inspired by the electronic stuff from Radiohead
was surprised i hadn't already listened to this all the way through. what an incredible record. little wing cover is mind blowing no other way to put it
Some great jamming on this album. clean production and definitely quality
nothing super special its decent
Great album, surprised it was only the late 60s. the production is great the way it layers in the orchestra and makes a full sound. totally reimagined walk on by. 4.5
So much good variety, no skips
Pretty great album, tempted to give it 5 stars. yeah, its 5 stars.
just feels deflated and weak
can't stand born in the usa (the song). overall the album got 80s-ified compared to his old stuff so not my favorite of his albums but the non hits are the most enjoyable listens. always love a clarence clemons solo though
the opposite of timeless, feels so corny and i hate the production. don't mind mccartney's singing but i dont like the song because jackson's singing is so annoying. theres a couple okay songs (baby be mine, pyt) but only billie jean is really interesting.
