Arcade FireAn absolute pleasure. Such a creative album packed with great songs! Slightly biased as I discovered the album in my teens, but always a 5/5 from me!

What is this? Just a solid NOPE from me. A real tough listen, unsure why it’s made the list, but there we go.
The amount of classic songs on this album is ridiculous. A double album that doesn’t feel like a double album. The Beatles at their creative peak. Not sure how this can be rated anything but 5!
Not my usual genre and not something I’d usually listen to out of choice. However, it does capture the essence of São Paulo really well and you can imagine being there and listening to the music in the bars. The musicianship is also intriguing and well executed. Very interesting.
My first time listening to a Hendrix album as I’m not really a big fan. I respect his talent and the way he uses the guitar, very creative. However, a lot of it is just noise and no real melody. As a double album this was bloated but some highlights thrown in. Burning of The Midnight Lamp’ was a highlight but the rest just merge into one.
Always wanted to listen to this record as it’s often cited as an influence on many bands that I listen to. Previously dabbled but never listened to the whole album. Great listen, the easiest album so far on my quest.
A very long winded record for me personally. I like a bit more structure to songs. These all sounded the same and went on for far too long!
Another hour long record. It’s not bad but noisy and repetitive! All the songs sound the same. Wouldn’t listen again.
Very funky from Stevie! A good listen, particularly picks up in the B side. Would definitely listen again.
Hmmm… Jazz…! Not for me, there were some element that I enjoyed, but they were for about 6 seconds before the song changed again! Creative but no structure imo!
I like punk and props to this album for being 34 mins long. However, I prefer melodic punk, and this ain’t it! Still, not the worst I’ve heard but I wouldn’t listen again.
Jazz again, however this was more enjoyable! Still no traditional song structure, by then again, it is Jazz. Chilled vibes all around, keen to explore more Davis.
A staple in the ‘Dad Rock’/‘Classic Rock’ genre. Easy to listen to, even if it most of the songs sound the same. Not as bad as I expected. Great riffs and catchy tunes.

A tough listen. Cringe, bad man rap for small minded gangster wannabes. Nothing else I can say. Apple Music ranked THIS as their No.1 album of 2016… sheesh!
Not bad. I find Disco a bit bland and cheesy to be honest. I’m sure this was a vibe back in the day, but I’ve heard the songs at too many middle aged functions.
Although an easy listen, I’m unsure of why it was included. A few good songs but nothing groundbreaking.
Not sure how many times the N word needs to be said over the course of this record. No need. Again, it’s gangsta wrap that I find cringe. There are some good beats in the songs, but no real melodic songs. Although that’s to be expected.
Another long album. The songs seemed to drag on a bit. The good songs were good, but the others were meh! I’d say 50/50 good to filler ratio.
Big band music that makes me think of NYC in the 50’s. Highly energetic and on the better side of the big band/jazz movement. I’d listen again, but it does have a time and a place 😅
A short, easy listen. Hardly groundbreaking and more background music. There’s good vibes in places but not something I’d listen to again.
I fitting tribute to a legendary composer and songwriter. Some classics on this one and a revolutionary album, although not appreciated at the time. 5 stars in respect to Brian Wilson.
This album has the lyrical depth of a puddle, but it goes to show that not everything needs to be deep. Catchy riffs and dirty vocals, what more do you need? A rock ‘n’ roll classic!
I didn’t listen to it all so I can’t rate it fairly. But the fact that I didn’t listen to it all goes to show that it wasn’t enjoyable. Music for teenage girls and I’ve never enjoyed the album track even after hearing it for most of my life. I might revisit the album to give it a fair rating but I doubt that will happen. Dated late 90’s, early 2000’s pop…
Pleasantly surprised by this album, unsure of what I was expecting but it’s a good collection of country songs. Nice melodies and instrumentation. Easy to listen with chilled vibes. Will delve further into Gram Parsons’ discography!
A great start to the day, the sun is shining and Bob is singing through the speakers! A great album with chilled out vibes to make the hour long commute to work a little more bearable.
That was very annoying to listen to. It came in relatively short at 31 minutes and I still found it too long! Screaming isn’t singing, wouldn’t know when to listen to that record. Too much noise, not enough substance 🤷🏻♂️
I got into this album pretty heavily in 2020 (must have been lockdown depression). At the time I thought it was great. ‘Disorder’ will always be a great song and an unreal way to open your debut album. I also like the industrial sound the album has with the harsh spacial reverb. However, having not listened to the album since then, my opinion has changed. It’s actually a tough listen if you’re not in a moody mood. Again ‘Disorder’ kicks arse and the bass line on ‘Insight’ is immaculate, but other than that there isn’t much that’s enjoyable on a sunny day in June. I’ll re listen in the depths of winter and perhaps my opinion will change again, but I can’t help thinking a bit of New Order would be a lot more enjoyable!
What is this? Just a solid NOPE from me. A real tough listen, unsure why it’s made the list, but there we go.
Hailed as the greatest live rock album of all time? Hmmm, I’m not too sure about that one. Perhaps for the time this was but I’ve listened to a few that are better. I’m a big fan of ‘The Who’ though so as expected the instrumentation and vocals are on point. Townshend’s guitar sounds dirty and sharp, that was a dream to listen to.
Again, I have no idea how this album has made the list? Maybe in ‘93 this was an influential album, but I’ve never heard of the record or the band as it goes. It’s just bland in terms of vocals, lyrics and musicality. It’s inoffensive and emotionless landfill brit pop. It’s only spared a spared a 1/5 due to the guitar work.
Can’t find the album on Spotify so I won’t be listening to it unfortunately. I heard snippets on YT and it’s definitely not my bag, but I can’t rate it fairly at the moment.
‘Pink Moon’ is a classic record. The stripped back instrumentation showcases Drake’s attention to melody, and that, he does well!
Currently on holiday so I haven’t listened as detailed as I’d like to. But it’s all jangly 60’s guitar music, nothing too special.
A smoothly glowing album to listen to in the Italian sun. I’ll listen again as I feel it may be a grower!
Holy shit, the synths on this album are soooo smooth! It’s like melting away into nothing, pure ecstasy. I’ve always been a fan of ‘The Cure’s’ hits but the album tracks here are on par with the rest.
My first ‘Beatles’ album in this list! An exciting day for any fan. Personally, I think this is one of their weaker albums due to the fact they are still attempting covers and haven’t yet hit their creative peak (and oh boy, do they deliver). However, as it’s the fab four I can’t give it less than 4 as this album undoubtedly includes some of their classic hits!
Album #37 and the easiest 5 stars so far! A lot of albums get hyped up to be something they’re not, however ‘OK Computer’ deserves the hype and then some. I can only imagine what it was like to hear this back in ‘97 and ‘Let Down’ is such an ethereal masterpiece of a song. So yeah, 5/5!
I always knew I wasn’t in to hip hop, but this challenge has definitely confirmed that I’m not! I’m not saying this album is bad as it’s a lot better than some of the albums I’ve been given so far. But it does all sound the same. The samples are well utilised, such as the use of Lou Reed’s ‘Walk On The…’, however I would much rather listen to the original song.
Pretty basic country songs. Not as bad as some reviews are making out, but hardly exciting enough to make the list either in my opinion.
Neil had a great run of albums around this time and this is one of his finest. It’s just not as good as ‘After The Gold Rush’.
This challenge finally gave me the time to listen to this album in full. I’m pleasantly surprised by the melodies on this record. The first thing I noticed was how similar the melody in ‘Fight Test’ sounds to Cat Stevens’ ‘Father and Son’ and having Googled it Stevens has a 75% royalty contribution. All in all a whacky album that deserves another listen!
This is where Radiohead kind of go too far for me. I can’t deny the creativity but I’m more of a ‘The Bends’ / ‘OK Computer’ kind of guy. I like the hits even if Thom Yorke doesn’t! Still, there’s sonic beauty throughout this record.
The Pixies doing what they do best. Edgy, quirky, guitar driven indie tunes. An enjoyable listen that would have been fresh to hear for the first time back in ‘90.
‘America’ is a top tier tune. The rest of the album is good but doesn’t reach the same heights.
Excuse my ignorance in never listening to this album. I’ve been missing out. I think seeing Amy in the media constantly back in the 2000’s put me off listening. Fair to say I’m pleasantly surprised, and in fact subconsciously knew most of the songs. I shall listen again!
A fitting tribute to Ozzy. There will never be another like him. I’ve never listened to this album before, ‘Changes’ is my favourite on the record.
I’ve listened to Wilco before but never this album. And what a great listen it is. I can’t reason with the one star reviews but of course, everyone is entitled to their opinion. The record is a double but doesn’t feel like it to me, a good mix of songs that doesn’t feel boring over the hour mark.
A classic punk record. I have to be in the mood to listen to this album, but no doubt that when I am, it makes me want to riot.
Smoooooth as! Although it’s quite daunting seeing 4 songs stretch over 45mins, it doesn’t feel like it once you start listening. ‘One Woman’ is a tune and a half.
This album needs no introduction. Dirty, gritty rock’n’roll at its finest!
Well that was a pleasant surprise! I’m aware of The Stranglers by their hit singles, however I haven’t delved into their albums before. This is a fun album that doesn’t get boring. (Get A) Grip [On Yourself] is a banger, so much groove in one song! After a few more listens this may get the 5 star treatment!
The amount of classic songs on this album is ridiculous. A double album that doesn’t feel like a double album. The Beatles at their creative peak. Not sure how this can be rated anything but 5!
I can’t deny the woman can sing, but sheeesh it’s a little boring! I like sad and slow songs, but not a full album of them! Still, there’s some good lyrics and melodies on this record. ‘Sweetest Devotion’ is a tune.
First time listening to the album beyond the singles. I can see why it’s considered a classic, amazing riffs, vocals and rhythms!
Hmmm, a lot of screeching vocals on this backed up by mediocre indie riffs. Not one song is memorable in my opinion.
A great debut album by the Foos! Not my favourite of theirs though, but you can’t deny Dave’s talent to be able to record all the instruments, even if he is a cheating little liar 🤷🏻♂️
Creativity is off the charts with this one! Jeff Lynne is a power house in creative melodic song writing and structures. 17 songs does make it a long album but the songs are so fresh and different, it never feels like a chore. If only people still wrote songs like these!
So ‘Take Me Out’ is an all time banger. The riff is one everyone’s heard or would definitely enjoy if they did! But none of the other songs match this level unfortunately. There are other good songs on the album but they do tend to sound quite similar. Back in 2004 though, I imagine this was exciting as it has them choppy guitar licks and hooks with toe tapping rhythms.
A slow listen to be honest, would suit them chilled vibey days. Unfortunately, yesterday was not one.
