To Pimp A Butterfly
Kendrick LamarNot a fan, but preferred this to KL’s more recent output. He sounds less like a cartoon character. Production crisper.

Needless to say I’m a Sabbath (and Ozzy) devotee. I’d pick any of the 3 following albums over this one. But it’s still a banger. RIP
Top drawer. Lindsey Buckingham is underrated as a guitarist.
Some interesting stuff going on, but not enough for a second listen. Once the album finished Spotify played the far superior “Something About You” by Level 42.
Okay. Sounds like a mixture of other bands, not always in a terrible way.
Bonnie Raitt? Bonnie Shaitt more like
Enjoyable, listening to it after a long long time. Only criticism is maybe Albarn’s vox are a bit lame here and there
A bit of harmless fun.
They're the AC/DC of first wave punk. Fun up to a point.
Some great lyrics in here.
The way she sang the line “down at the Men In Music Business Conference” immediately made me think of Jermaine Clement singing “Team Building Exercise ‘99”. Couldn’t take it seriously from that point onwards (about 30 seconds into the opening track)
OK as background music. For Starbucks or the lift.
The songwriting is brilliant. I just can't get past Lennon's hippy egomania and the annoying personality cult around it.
Genius.
I started out thinking "it's OK, wouldn't listen again". A few tracks in, that'd changed to "actually I quite like some of this, still probably wouldn't listen again". By the end of the album I realise I'd happily listen to it again. Which was nice.
It’s for the background of Gossip Girl or similar American TV teen dramas. Hard for me to treat it as music in its own right.
I didn't hate this as much as I expected, but wouldn't choose to listen again. The production / sound is awesome though
Our own decisions
I feel like I have to give a 5 due to its seminal status. Rounding down to 4. Much bluesier, rock-and-rollier, Zeppelin-er than their following albums; a product of the end of the 60s rather than the start of the 70s
A pleasant enough listen
I would buy this record
Fretless
A gem
Yeah, go on. It’s quite pleasant
Iconic, atmospheric, and maybe even a little homoerotic.
I like it, but feel underwhelmed…
Didn’t mind this AT ALL. Might even re-listen. Yet, I’ll err on the side of three stars.
I realise, hearing it again after a fair few years, that this album means a lot to me.
I wouldn’t consider myself a VanMorrisonhead, but enjoyed this more than expected
Sounds like more off-the-shelf flowery psychedelia at first but with an enjoyable darkness, edging it over into ‘bad trip’ territory… IN A GOOD WAY
Not the shitty 80s pop I was expecting at all. Pretty good actually
